GUILTY CA - Ryan Chamberlain charged in deadly toxin case, San Francisco, June 2014

There is no doubt in my mind that if Chamberlain wasn't caught searching the 'Net for those toxic chemicals, there would be a lot of dead people via explosions in the not-so-distant future.

People don't make bombs to commit suicide.

After reading the docs, he was still a danger as he kept the items he purchased even after his "dark" period, right in his kitchen! The alledge assault on a minor in 2009 didn't go over too well with me either. His purchases weren't even 7 months ago.

The system successfully stopped a disaster that could have harmed many. If a person is suicidal they don't try to make WMD. He had a gun and could have easily taken just himself out. His "dark" period included others.

Glad to see he will get a mental examination as well. jmo

Updated 7:55 am, Friday, June 13, 2014

(06-12) 18:33 PDT SAN FRANCISCO -- San Francisco political and media consultant Ryan Chamberlain was indicted Thursday by a federal grand jury on charges that he possessed a destructive device and a gun with its serial number removed.

The indictment seeks the forfeiture of any bomb-making components a well as a .22-caliber Derringer pistol, "serial number unknown," along with 42 rounds of .22-caliber ammunition.

The indictment replaces a criminal complaint issued this month alleging that Chamberlain, 42, possessed bomb-making materials at his Polk Street apartment and had sought "illegal toxins" on a black market website.

Chamberlain is to return to court Monday and Tuesday for a detention hearing and arraignment. He is being held at San Francisco County Jail.

Jodi Linker, an attorney from the federal public defender's office who is representing Chamberlain, has said that a mental health evaluation conducted by one of her experts conveyed a sense of "urgency for the need for further treatment."

This is an article from July 2014. I could not find what if any mental illness his attorney thought he might need treatment fir. I am also wondering if he was making money illegally. Where I grew up a consultant job implied under or unemployed. But he had 2 apartments in SF and was buying I assume expensive illegal materials on the Dark Internet. Strange story. I wonder if his family has money? Have to wait on sentencing now I guess.
