Just found this story today.. I'm in Georgia and I haven't heard a peep about it! I agree that it would be a much bigger story if organ harvesting was actually suspected.

What I'm getting from just the organ trade wiki page is that about half of illegally harvested organs come from victims of human trafficking. I wonder if Ryan was at risk for falling into something like that—the entertainment/modeling industries and its "contracts.." However, US patients seeking illegal organs (about 30-50 a year) generally go abroad to India, Africa, or the soviet bloc.. for obvious and sad reasons. Professional organ harvesting seems to take place within a more organized and discrete infrastructure, often mafia run and working in tandem with countless corrupt physicians. Transactions are arranged online, just as they are by individual voluntary sellers (who are persecuted more frequently than the crime rings).

Maybe for the sake of my nightmares, maybe just for Occam's razor, I think "animals" is more likely, but should harvesting become a serious possibility as determined by autopsy/external agencies—though would they release that info to the public? flashbacks to early 2000's urban legend chain letter hysteria—checking out the phone/internet activities of whoever he was with in those three states would be of definite interest, moreso than his activities even.

Something else to consider, based on the highly hinky transplant page like, is that even if Ryan wanted to become a legal voluntary donor (ie, sans compensation) he wouldn't be allowed to. Per the FDA, gay men are still banned from donating blood or tissue.

For organs to be viable for transplant they must be transplanted within a short window of hours. So i would assume they would not have been harvested out in the desert as the heat would make that widow even shorter. This is if the organs were taken for harvesting. Are there any private medical facilities near to where he was found?

The sad thing about this is the focus from people in my our circle keeps focusing on the "organ harvesting" aspect. Which is a null issue, based on decomp etc. I've fought this tooth and nail to have them not focus on this and now...they look stupid.

Mystery in Death Valley: Few answers in case of Atlanta man found dead in California desert

http://www.foxnews.com/us/2013/11/2...ad-in/?cmpid=edpick&google_editors_picks=true

Two months after the body of an aspiring writer and filmmaker turned up in the California desert, his family is desperate for answers and certain foul play was involved.

Ryan Singleton, a 24-year-old former model, flew from his family's Atlanta home to Los Angeles in July for a short vacation. Once there, he rented a car for a trip to Las Vegas, but things apparently went awry on the return trip as he drove through the desolate Mojave Desert on July 9. Near the tiny southeast California town of Baker, the car broke down and Singleton called a friend from a rest stop.

It was the last time anyone would hear from him. Tight-lipped investigators have released little information about any progress on the case, and Singleton's family knows little more than they did when he was initially reported missing.........

Investigators trying to reconstruct Singleton's final hours have told his family they believe he was picked up by a Highway Patrol officer after his car broke down and driven to the rest stop in Baker. Once there, Singleton called the friend who lived three hours away, and asked to be picked up, according to the family. But when the friend arrived and could not find Singleton, he reported him missing. ........

Singleton's spouse, who asked not to be identified, said the "lack of answers" from authorities has led him to question various theories: Was Singleton the victim of an organ theft ring? Or was the 6-foot, 4-inch man, described as "kind and gentle," the victim of a random abduction and murder -- with his body dumped in a hot desert for wild animals to dismember? Finally, given Singleton's sexual orientation, he wonders if the openly-gay man could have been the victim of a hate crime.

Singleton's spouse said he was certain of one thing -- that the 24-year-old did not simply collapse and die in Death Valley.

"I believe that he was taken from there [Baker] and later put back there," his spouse said. "I just don’t think he passed out there and was there for two and a half months."........more.....

I wonder why he didn't call the rental agency. Wouldn't they have had to bring him another car? Did someone kidnap him from the rest stop? Or did he get a ride with the wrong person?

Sorry RANCH, I did not look at previous page and see you had already posted this article.

Ryan didn't leave that rest stop after getting another ride.
He would have called his friend to let his friend know not to drive 3 hours!

A tribute made by one of Ryan's acquaintances. Although I vehemently oppose the reason behind the video (IMO), it is touching to see who Ryan really was.

I love this kid, how awesome was he?

Some of his statements are so eerie now, it's sad.

I certainly hope he gets justice. :please:

It's bee a while since i've been on this site. Still need to do the whole verification thing. However there aren't any updates. This whole situation with his passing has caused a lot and I mean A LOT of craziness. It's funny how quickly the media will sensationalize things without having all of the facts at hand first. It's a really bad round of the game "telephone".

I haven't read through the whole thread yet. However, this makes me think of Steven Koecher who went missing near this area (about an hour and a half away and several years prior). May not be related, but just made me think of him.

This story showed up today on my local news feed. Several videos and pictures, also shows the autopsy report

Same here, was just coming to post this same article.

It's odd that he said, multiple times (snip from the article) "I've done a lot of things to hurt a lot of people" and "Something bad is going to happen to me isn’t it?

Someone in his circle should know what he was alluding to?

Timeline snipped from article:
June 2010 – Leaves home in Georgia for New York to become a model. He later heads to Los Angles to pursue film production.

December 2012 – Leaves production crew in Los Angeles, returns to New York and marries Kythe Brewster - a celebrity stylist.

April 2013 - July 2013 – Returns to Atlanta, separates from husband.

July 2013 – Tells mom he is going to Las Vegas to try out for football team. (She said she later realized that wasn't the case.)

July 9, 2013 – Ryan calls his mother in the morning asking her to send him $100 via Western Union to Nevada.

July 9, 2013 - Mom receives call from Kythe, Ryan’s estranged husband. Mother tells Kythe that Ryan is on the West Coast. Kythe tells mother that Ryan called him and it seemed he had been drinking. Kythe tells Iris that Ryan’s life could be in danger.

July 9, 2013 – Mother speaks with Barstow Co. Detective who told her Ryan was seen walking down the highway at 2 p.m. by CA Hwy Patrol. Ryan tells deputies his car broke down. Deputies took Ryan to look for the car but couldn’t locate it. Deputies took Ryan to the closest town, Baker, CA where they dropped him off at convenience store. Deputies said Ryan made a purchase, walks out of store and vanishes.

July 10, 2013 – Ryan's car is found in Barstow County a few miles north of where deputies and Ryan initially searched for the car.

July 11, 2013 – The case was assigned to another detective who informed the Iris that her son was receiving money from multiple people.

Sept. 21, 2013 – Ryan’s body is found by two joggers/hikers with his organs missing about two miles from the convenience store where he was last seen. This is within the 5 miles radius that authorities intensively searched.

The autopsy report lists the cause and manner of death as undetermined.

From the autopsy report. http://content.11alive.com/document_dev/2017/05/24/FULL Ryan Singleton report_9546326_ver1.0.pdf

The autopsy report gives alot of details on his final days. He was low on money and had his friend in LA (the one who went to pick him up) wired him $60. His skin color was unable to be determined, and his body weighed 50 pounds, nearly completely skeletonized (skin on feet and legs heavily mummified). They were able to identify him as being of black ancestry because of his hair type. No shirt and what could have been athletic shorts were found on him (assuming animals got to them), along with socks and converse sneakers. It specifically states that his eyes were removed likely by animals/insects.

Brain examination showed possible hemorrhage, and a skull fracture which could have happened during autopsy (determined to have not occured prior to decomposition)

This case breaks my heart in so many ways. One thing I have always heard is to be very careful in the desert areas of Cali. Lotta meth and a lot of scary, dangerous people there.
