Any updates on Sam?

I just read on FB that on March 7 they were talking about organizing some searches for Sam.

Wanting to break off in to groups and retrace some of the hiking trails she liked to hike.
They don't think anyone took her.

No updates after that...

Her vehicle was never found, correct?

Yeah, it hasn't

Hopefully whomever is organizing searches has some good rationale behind searching trails, but it seems like the best approach here would be trying to find her car first. Driving slowly or walking (if safe to do so) along the roadways where she was thought to be travelling and looking into any wooded areas from above before all the trees leaf out this spring. My thoughts are with all those willing to go out and search and I hope they can bring her home.

I read on FB that a search team is being put together for April 23. They want to try to search every wknd.
Looking at the trails Sam used to frequent.

Anyone can join.

Yes, April 23rd. We are trying to round up more people, so if you are local and would like to help us bring Sam home, please message me for details.

From what I understand the last phone ping was at Friant Rd. and Washington. We don't have a lot to go on but we will start from there. Still no sign of her car.

Wow, I'm shocked about that being her last phone ping at that location. They couldn't catch anything further on down the road anywhere?

So, may be her battery died or she turned it off...

Read on FB:

As of an hour ago, her father is saying they've found her car. (in the mountains)

That's all I will say till there has been confirmation of other news.

Thank you for sharing that. It's just amazing it's taken this long to just find her car. It must've been a remote area. I hope her family gets the answers that they need.

FSO Search & Rescue Team Finds Skeletal Remains of Missing Fresno Woman
On Friday, May 6th, dental records of 37 year old Samantha Tomlinson of Fresno were compared to skeletal remains found near Shaver Lake. The examination confirmed the identity to be that of Samantha Tomlinson. She was reported to Fresno Police as a missing person on December 3rd, 2021 after she never returned home from a shopping trip.
Shortly after the report was filed, the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue (SAR) team, Forest Service rangers and the California Highway Patrol checked spots within the Sierra National Forest and Sequoia National Park due to Tomlinson being an avid hiker who enjoyed visiting these locations. Crews were never able to find Tomlinson or her car.
On May 2nd, the Sheriff’s Office received a report of an abandoned 2002 Honda Civic near Dinkey Creek and Rock Creek Roads east of Shaver Lake. Deputies responded, checked the license plate and discovered the car belonged to Samantha Tomlinson. It is believed the car was previously covered in snow, which is why it wasn’t found sooner.
Approximately 20 SAR members were deployed to the area to search for Tomlinson. This included deputies, volunteers from the Sheriff’s Jeep Rescue Unit, Mountaineers and the California Rescue Dog Association. They worked around the clock combing the forest for any signs of Tomlinson. On May 4th, SAR members found bones in rough terrain about a half mile away from where the car was parked. The bones were taken to the Coroner’s Office where Tomlinson’s identity was confirmed. No foul play is suspected in this case.

Many thoughts go out to the family, her father, mother, and brother. God Bless them all in this difficult time. Sammy was such a sweet girl and will always be remembered. Damn.

RIP Samantha. I wonder if this was an accident and she got stuck up there right before we got hit with a bunch of winter storms in mid December to early January or she went up there with an ulterior purpose in mind. Either way, this is devastating to her family and friends. My condolences.

Storms came in soon after she went missing. The car was covered in snow so no one could find it. She left a note.
