Case History: This skull, designated "Undetermined Doe #03-98" was found along a desert roadside near Lucerne Valley. The skull is that of a juvenile, probably between 8 and 16 years of age. The maxilla (upper jaw) was missing and no mandible or post-cranial remains were ever found. Sex, race, stature, weight, cannot be determined. Identity can only be established using head X-rays or DNA. Samples were submitted to CA DOJ-MPDP (Reference #BK-02-000450), but no nucDNA profile could be developed, only mtDNA. Therefore missing person comparison samples must be submitted from the maternal side of the family as well

Just looking at some old, dormant cases and this one made me sad with the age listed as 8-16 yoa - I came across this little one:

Jesus Carillo
http://www.findthemissing.org/en/cases/11485/4/

He was only 10, went missing from the town of Hesperia, CA which is only 28 miles or 40 minutes west of the location of the bones/UID ... not much else to go on since the UID wasn't found with anything (clothes, etc) - also he was missing about 3 months before the UID was found ..

Here is another young man missing from the same area, about 70 miles southwest of the location of UID in Bloomington, CA:

Daniel Carver
http://www.findthemissing.org/en/cases/2655/36/

He was 15 when he went missing one year before the UID was found ... not much more I am finding about him

Here is a list of thirteen individuals missing that have a connection to San Bernardino. Any of these that have DNA available would be good places to start:

EDIT: One of them, Jack Phillips, is ruled out.

No updates in Namus since 2018 - given the notes about DNA in the first post, does this mean all comparisons would be manually triggered (ie: no auto rule outs)?

I definitely think Jesus Carillo should be checked out. He vanished only a half hour away from where the remains were found and the time of death fits in the case
