Estimated PMI is 1992 so possibly up to 6 weeks in the water.

The article posted in the images/documents section reported a vast difference in height/weight as opposed to the actual measurements. Wonder if they re-ran the publication with the correct information.

Also noted that UID only had Nike socks.

My thought was that he had trunks and/or sandals on that were pulled off by the current.

He could have been wearing loose-fitting pants w/ or w/o a shirt when he went in the water, and getting jostled around dislodged his clothing until only his tight socks were left. Another possibility is foul play, ofc.
With respect to PMI, I would estimate (with my limited knowledge of decomp!) that he couldn't have been deceased more than a couple weeks... enough time that his hair/scalp could slough off (as hair color is unknown), but not enough time so that his body had started seriously breaking down in terms of disarticulation, large quantity of soft tissue missing, etc (as his height and weight were still measurable).
Wonder what lead the article was referring to? It must not have panned out.

It doesn't say if they have DNA on him (as far as I can see). Old newspaper articles might shed light on who the missing person was who he was thought to possibly be, unless that's the last article on the case. This seems like a long forgotten case that just recently got online.

This is the only person missing from that county within a year or so of the UID’s discovery. He fits the demographics given in newspaper articles but nowhere near the ones listed in NamUs. I couldn’t find any follow up on the missing man they thought this could be.

His remains may have been partially eaten by aquatic life, if he was floating face down his fingers could have been too damaged to take prints.
