victoriarobinson642 any chance he resembles the Skip O you found in your searches?

Don't know anything about this case, but I recall that in my high school, there was a kid who went by "Skippy". His real name was Andrew, and our yearbook would only list him as Andrew. (I am not suggesting that my acquaintance Andrew was the victim here; he would have only been a little kid in 1979). My point was just to say that I don't know if Skip / Skippy is typically a nickname for certain formal names, but if not, it seems like searching for "Skip O" in yearbooks could be like searching for a needle in a haystack. Many times yearbooks wouldn't even list this type of information.

It seems really sad that they couldn't ID this young person. His photo looks like he should be easily identified.
I will also mention that this park (Gompers Park) is in the "rough" part of San Diego -- higher crime area with drug issues, gangs, etc at least from the 1980s onward. Don't know about 1979 but it was probably the same.
It's weird that the Medical Examiner report doesn't mention a cause of death. Was it murder, overdose, suicide, or ???
