Being that tattoo is SO distinctive, I’m wondering if the photo exists to be seen, maybe by looking for instance we could discern that it could say “Colvis” or “Doris” or “N” Instead of “M” initial for instance.. i wonder how clear and sure that is.

I am having no evidence of someone named Cloris M. Isaac ever existing, but I have found a Floris Marie Isaac.

She passed in 2007, and her husband August Samuel Isaac passed in 2011. She had two sons, Daniel Wayne Isaac, and Keith Isaac. At first, I could only find a death certificate for Keith Isaac who passed in 2017 (and Keith's son Joshua who passed in 2007). Since I could not find a death certificate for Daniel, my assumption was that this john doe was Daniel Wayne Isaac. That was until @Lwieckowicz was kind enough to help me look into this further and was able to find a gravestone which included August Samuel, Floris, and Daniel. Seeing as this gravestone has a date of death for Daniel, I continued looking into her family tree.

Floris didn't appear to have any brothers, and I find it hard to believe that her father would have tattoo'd her married name onto his chest (he also doesn't appear to match the age range of this john doe).

So now I am at a standstill. Who could this John Doe be? Maybe there really is someone named Cloris M. Isaac? Any genealogy sleuthers wanna take a crack at this?

Below is her grandson Joshua's obituary. Looks like he followed in his grandfather's footsteps and went into the military.

Lance Corporal Joshua David Isaac USMC, age 23, of Peachtree City passed away on July 7, 2007 from injuries received June 30, 2003 during a water training accident with the United States Marine Corps.

Josh was born June 11, 1984 in Kansas City, MO. He was a 2003 graduate of McIntosh High School in Peachtree City, GA and had been accepted at the University of South Carolina where he planned to major in Criminal Justice.

Josh was an Eagle Scout and a volunteer firefighter with the Peachtree City Fire Department. Josh was the 2001 Georgia state representative to the FBI National Academy Youth Leadership Program in Quantico, VA and the Vice-President of Finance for the FBINAA Youth Leadership Alumni Association. After his accident, Josh was made an honorary member of the Georgia chapter of the FBINAA.

Josh is survived by his mother, Malia Brooks Isaac; and his sister, Jillian Brooke Isaac of Peachtree City; his father and step-mother, Keith and Jennifer Maichel Isaac of Moreland, GA; paternal grandparents, Sam and Flo Isaac of Moreland, GA. Josh's maternal grandparents were the late G.T. and Justine (Dukes) Brooks of Morganfield, KY; and he was the great grandson of the late Rebie and Ruth Dukes of White Plains, KY.

That's a great idea. I guess the next thing to do is think of possibilities of what the name could be, and then try and look into family trees to find out who this John Doe could possibly be.

This is odd? Am I seeing that right now death date on the headstone for her husband? She died in Humboldt county that’s only like 5 hours from SF where John Doe was found.

@Lwieckowicz by golly if this isn't a match. I am going to submit this, if that is okay. Feel free to do the same.

This is a great find, where did you find this?

@Lwieckowicz and I have also been PM'ing about this case and when they found this photo and info, I inquired about her husband since dates of death were found for her brothers and her sons.

Then @Lwieckowicz found this.

I was looking for a gravestone without a date of death but for the wrong Isaac family.

I am guessing that there is a missing persons case for him but it isn't in NamUs. I have noticed that to happen a lot with Does. That is why I asked @Lwieckowicz to use look into it because of their access to ancestry.

I have spoken with Humbolt Law Enforcement. They are going to give me a call shortly about this. I have also been in contact with the Medical Examiner as well today.

I agree that’s such a coincidence if not a match ‍ keep me posted!

if the tattoo is "indistinct" or faded, I could totally see some fonts losing the leg of a capital "F" and looking kind of like a "c"

I was able to get an update.

Hello *****,
It appears that Mr. David L. Isaac died on 07/05/2011 and was buried by Pierce Mortuary in Eureka so I don't think our John Doe is David. However he is probably related to this family some how owning to the tattoo. I will try to contact Pierce Mortuary to ask about other family members who might have gone missing in 1978. By the way, our case number for this is 1978-0377, John Doe # 28.
Thanks,
Hmm, back to the drawing board. I do find it strange though that his name isn't on her gravestone.

What if it is Cloris & Isaac or Cloris ‘n Isaac.

It is a bit unusual weird to have a full name, with a middle initial, tattoed on.
