So far, she hasn't been found. Yosemite National Park has just asked people to tell them if they might've seen Sandra earlier in the month and to be on the lookout for her or for abandoned gear.

The car and the campsite being 5 miles apart is a red flag.

Yosemite Officials Seek Public’s Help In Locating Missing Hiker

UPDATE:
This week, Yosemite officials are asking members of the public if you have any information about Sandra Johnsen-Hughes or if you have been in the area south of Merced Pass and Buena Vista Crest during July, even if you did not see her or her abandoned gear, to email or call the desk officer.
A sleeping bag matching her recent REI purchase was found a few days later, off-trail, 2.5 miles north of the accident scene, and just inside the Yosemite National Park boundary. Her original campsite with most of her gear appears to have been abandoned.

Yosemite officials add, if you are out in the area and find belongings out there, do not touch them, Instead, take photos, note the exact location, and report it when you return from your outdoor activities.

California’s law enforcement and search & rescue teams leave a lot to be desired! Where is the body heat laser and chopper? Anyone forming volunteer search parties? She Likely had a head injury from the car accident, Coupled with being left to the elements, wildlife and Wild humans doesn’t sound good to me

Was hoping for news of Sandra today. Was anyone else under the assumption from how the report was worded that the witnesses who saw her bruised and barefoot saw her near her car? I’ll have to go back and look but I got the impression they either saw the crash occur or saw her by the car and asked if she was all right, etc?
She was see n at the trailhead. And from motorist passing by crashd car

Search for woman missing since July 4 in Sierra National Forest | Daily Mail Online

But then I come across this...
•Hikers reported seeing Hughes on July 4 and said she was barefoot and had a bruise on her face.
•found her campsite near the Johnsons Meadow section of the forest in disarray on July 5.
•The following day (July 6) officers located Hughes' silver Saab in Chiquito Creek to the north of the campsite.

so I wonder how long the car had been then before officials found it July 6?

I feel like they all dropped the ball. And so did the media.

Madera County Sheriff's Office

Last update given by MCSO was on July 20 stating she was still missing.
I am unable to find a more recent update.
Yosemite National Park posted an update 4 days ago. One thing mentioned was a sleeping bag found 2.5 miles up the trail matching a description of a recent credit card purchase from REI. Not confirmed hers.

I watched all videos I could find this week. Her case seems to fit the criteria. These documentaries really scared me

She's a friend of mine
Worth noting it was not the forest service or madera sherriff that found the car. It was a volunteer non profit. 775 Offroad & Recovery, a 501(c)(3) organization, Public Page found the vehicle in a ravine. Search operations being handled by US forestry and Sheriff's. They called the authorities
Madera County Sheriff's Office

I wonder if the campsite LK mentions in the comments was Sandra’s or someone else’s?

After closer look. Her case meets the exclusion .....but it's pretty disturbing how many go missing

The books are quite eye opening. Some of the cases had me shaking my head asking myself how is that even possible.

Given the proximity to Yosemite, which has the largest cluster of cases, it's hard to not go there in your mind. There's a small cluster to the north of Yosemite where three people have went missing at the same spot and no trace of them has ever been found outside of their vehicles being found at or near the spot.

Edit: if you have Amazon Prime Video, Missing 411: The Hunters talks about those three cases and others that have happened elsewhere

I haven’t seen anything that seems like foul play in this case. Except maybe someone or something trashing her camp. That could be thieves or animals though. I also haven’t seen any mention of psychological problems with her. Did I miss something?
As for the missing 411 theory, I’m trying not to factor that in yet due to the unexplainable nature of it. It muddles things up for me. Although I have studied that phenomena for years, and consider it an undeniable presence in and around National Parks.

I went there in my mind. It's hard to wrap the brain around someone vanishing.

That's the one reason it should be factored in, especially considering the proximity to Yosemite.

What I mean is that once I factor that in, There is nowhere to go. It’s unexplainable. Unprovable. So I’m sticking to clues that actually lead me somewhere, since that is now a dead end.
