im glad they are working on this! santa clara county sheriff has some good officers though. one even took a walkabout from work to travel 5 from Mexico to Canada trying to find leads on who Karla Doe was (killed by Jespersen)

Just saw that Kacie Smith is on the rule out list

Have you guys reported these profiles that haven't been removed to the Namus coordinator for that page?

For Emma, it sounds like they aren't sure who made the post to her Facebook. That doesn't establish that she was alive, only that someone had access to her account.

that's also true.

I have not, I am not sure how. emma byrnes and megan dipiazza are still on there though.

I asked my friend from Santa Cruz about homeless camp sites & he said

I haven't been there in a good decade, but down by the San Lorenzo River was good, so was over by derby and in Capitola

If someone local to this area where the UID was found wants to put up posters of her, it might help. I'll hunt down some fb groups & post to them about the UID.

edit to add- I know someone on fb who used to be a homeless teenager in San Jose but she's currently suffering from some mental health issues so I don't want to bother her with this kind of thing. Let me ask friends who have more direct ties to Santa Cruz & San Jose.

there is a "homeless shelter" for runaway teens right down the street from my job. I really should take a pic of here over there. but I don't know if it has a public entrance? I will try and report back.

Yeah submitting you also this profile please? ;) however namus regarding disappearances in any cases solved is not updated. For example, Megan DiPiazza profile is in the database but her remains were found in ravine.

Just confirming I did not submit Victoria Joy Tatro. I looked again at her photos on social media and I really can't see her being the same person as the Jane Doe in regards to pant size, bra size, etc. If anyone else feels she may be a match then obviously please feel free to submit.

I live in this area and have never heard of this case! It certainly hasn't been well publicized. The area where she was found is a lovely remote drive above the town. It consists of a windy road that takes you to a breathtaking view of the Silicon Valley, through hill towns such as Felton, and then on to Santa Cruz. It's a well traveled path for weekend motorcycles, cyclists, and roadsters. It's beautiful, but I've always found it a bit creepy too. I've often thought that more than a few missing persons ended up in car wrecks over the side of one of those steep mountains.

As far as the Doe in question, I wonder if she is an au pair? I've always looked at these young foreign women living as domestics as "at risk" employees. I know this isn't a popular opinion, but I wonder how many of these young women are approached by the husbands of the house holds? Doesn't seem like a good idea to me. Stick with the Mrs. Doubtfire types. : )

Oh! I've driven that road! There's a ridge where you can see the valley on one side and glimpse the ocean on the other?

I was thinking about that angle of her being foreign - I saw that there had been some arrests in the area for human trafficking around that time which got me wondering. The only thing that put me off that idea was that every item of clothing she was wearing appeared to have been bought in the US, I thought that if she were foreign then she'd likely have at least one item from her home country. However that idea applied more to my human trafficking train of thought (i.e. she wouldn't have had the money nor opportunity to buy new clothes and lingerie in the US). But an au pair maybe might have more opportunity.

It's an angle to consider I think.

It's so interesting that you haven't heard of the case. I found a few articles online but they appeared to be fairly cursory reproductions of the press release that the police did recently rather than any kind of major article or investigation.

Someone on /r/gratefuldoe with the username -mlc- suggested Nova Cierra Awe, missing since May 2014 at age 15.

I don't know if we're allowed to link it, but here:

If that doesn't work, here's what they said:

https://identifyus.org/en/cases/14683
http://charleyproject.org/cases/a/awe_nova.html
https://www.findthemissing.org/en/cases/27006/49

Unidentified body is estimated between ages 15-24, Nova was 15 when she went missing. Unidentified body was found in December 2014 and estimated to have died between April 2014-December 2014, Nova was reported missing on May 1, 2014. Unidentified girl was reported with brown colored hair, Nova's hair is also brown and in the photo on Charley Project is appears like the ends are colored almost pink and blue so it's possible the hair was dyed all brown if she is the unidentified girl. A lot of similarities in this case, the only things I see against this would be the height. Unidentified girl is reported to be an estimated 59 inches, or 4'9 and Nova was 5'4. It's possible the body could be estimated incorrectly? Also, there's only one photo for Nova so it's hard to see if it's physically identical but the pictures look somewhat close. Nova was reported to be a runaway and seen to be leaving in a red pickup truck so it's possible she could have run away to California where the unidentified body was found and run into trouble which caused her death

I personally think it's very possible (which is why I'm suggesting it here) but I wanted yalls input on it before I tell them whether to suggest it to law enforcement or not.

Thanks rats for the post; you submitted this for a match?

Nope, wanted your opinions on it before I told the person to submit it or not. Do you think it's worth it?

Speculation Alert: if this girl is barely 5 foot tall, measures 36 inches around the rib cage, and wears size 0 pants, I think we're looking for a missing swimmer or gymnast.

Long ago in a galaxy far away I worked in a bridal store. I do NOT want a woman with those measurements to come in to shop & much less for a fitting!

I think it's worth submitting. The height is off like you say but if either of the girls reported heights are off by a few inches then they become quite close together. Height is the one thing I find is so often mis-recorded.

Her pic also looks close to the UID's profile. FL is a long way but it's not impossible!

Ahh. Cassie is on the rule-out list. Should have checked that first. The similarities between her and the recon are crazy though.
