If he is where I think he is referring to, that is where the hot springs is (used to be a swanky resort there many many years ago). There is also a power plant (Childs). We've hiked/fished/camped in there on numerous occasions over the last 30+ years. It's a beautiful & serene location, I can definitely see someone trekking out there to blow off some life steam, although he was quite unprepared for the trip according to his family/friends.

I could be wrong of course, considering the update was not too specific, but that's my uneducated and long-time local opinion ;)

I’m wondering why they didn’t search that area when they did the searching in the beginning? I mean it seems like a good place for someone to go, I was able to look it up online so I’m sure it isn’t too hard to find or to get to even without being a great outdoorsman. I hate to say this but I feel like with the amount of time he’s been gone and the resources he was believed to have had with him at the time he disappeared it’s hard to believe he’s still alive somewhere. He’s not an outdoorsman so he doesn’t know how to start fires, clean water or catch animals to live off the land so to speak so he would have to have either brought provisions or had to go back into town for food and water. I have so questions that maybe someone here might have an opinion about;
Why didn’t they search this area?
Why did they say maybe he ran out of gas? Wouldn’t that be something that would be known when they turned the car on what the gas gauge showed?
What are the thoughts about him last being seen on 9/14 but his car appearing at the rest stop on the 9/23? Where was the car all that time? Why didn’t forensics go over the car instead of letting his parents take it?

Saw this today, hope its not him but it's not entirely that far away
from where his car was located.

CCSO investigating homicide after a body was found in the woods north of Flagstaff
Yes, the only thing that gives me pause is the fact the unidentified is approx 6ft tall (he’s reported 5’9”) and between the ages of 35-55. We’ve seen these approximations to be wrong in certain cases but that jumped out at me.

the article (as far as unidentified remains) was pretty detail-rich, I wish we had any indication of what he was last seen wearing.

That’s what stood out to me too. It sounds like it could be if the remains had been of someone shorter. For that much detail I think they’re probably right about the height.

MOD NOTE:
While many recent posts have been well-intended, a number of them have had to be removed because they are not in compliance with Websleuths intentionally stringent rules.

Here are some important TOS items to note:
- info may not be posted from ANY social media page unless it belongs to the missing person/victim OR is an official Law Enforcement (LE) or mainstream media (MSM) account.
- info regarding family members or friends may not be posted as that is considered sleuthing them which is a violation of TOS.
- any info posted MUST have a link to MSM or LE substantiating that info. If not it is considered RUMOR which is a violation of TOS and may be removed.
- IF you are close to this case as a family member or friend and want to post inside info without the required MSM/LE links, you must become a Verified Insider in order to do so. Click HERE to learn more about the process.
- PLEASE do not reply to/respond to/quote posts that you know to be in violation of TOS. That perpetuates the problem, and often requires a thread closure to clean it up. Instead, please REPORT the posts and moderators can manage it.

There are many other places on the internet where “anything goes”. Websleuths has a higher standard to protect the family and friends of missing persons and crime victims. THANK YOU for your efforts to help us do just that.

THREAD IS NOW OPEN.

Faithfully,

<modsnip> Shane’s been missing over a month now with what appears to be little to no clues where he could be at this point. As for the body that was found in Flagstaff it still hasn’t been identified or at least not publicly.

FBI Assists In Search For West Covina Man Missing Since September

The FBI is involved Tuesday in the search for a West Covina man who has been missing since mid-September.

Shane Michael Rollman, 31, was last seen in West Covina on Sept. 12. His white BMW has been found at the McGuireville Rest Area near Rimrock, Ariz. On Sept. 23, according to the FBI.

FBI coming in- that's both great news and sad news, I hope they are able to find him along with the answers of what happened to him. Fingers crossed

What does it usually mean when the FBI is involved in a missing person adult case?

What does it usually mean when the FBI is involved in a missing person adult case?

I am no expert, but to me it means that the case is located in a rural and/or poor area where the local LE don't have fancy search technology nor personnel to spare to focus on a case.

Sometimes it can mean the situation crosses state lines or has a federal component to it (like something involving the mail) but I think that is less common than the FBI stepping in to assist rural LE with specialized gear and people.

In this case, I think it has to do with an inter-state investigation. Happy to see the FBI is involved! Hopefully they can get to the bottom of this and find Shane.

As the holidays are coming I just think it’s especially sad for his parents. Seeing his mom talk about him on the news was heartbreaking... I’m praying that they find out what happened soon.
