Are there any updates on this young man?

The death of his dog and his experience of that must have been awful. This is a very worrisome case and I can't find any updates.

It looks like Shane was making movies and very creative. His one short features outdoor footage and an archaeology them, so I wonder if he went to that part of AZ for its cliff dwelling ruins (near where his car was found).

Could this be a desert misadventure? Did he run into a bad actor? I wish this case had received more local publicity early on.

To me, his recent fill-up at the Chevron station says that he intended to keep traveling.

I couldn't find any updates. I thought maybe now that the FBI was involved it would get more attention from MSM.

FBI now has case of missing California man

Dec 2
Tuesday marked the 80th day since Shane Michael Rollman was last seen by his family. Recently, the FBI joined the effort to locate the California man. Rollman, 31, according to video surveillance and bank records, shopped at Bashas’ supermarket in Camp Verde and fueled up a Chevron gas station Sept. 13.

He hasn’t been seen or heard from since.

Shane Rollman’s car was found at the McGuireville rest area along I-17 on Thursday, Sept. 24. His phone and computer were in the car. His FBI missing person page can be found here: SHANE MICHAEL ROLLMAN — FBI

FBI now has case of missing California man

Sept 12
Last seen at his home
Said he wanted to take a nap, but by 6pm he was gone
did not take suitcase, belongings of such
Sept 13
shopped at Bashas’ supermarket in Camp Verde and fueled up a Chevron gas station
took $700 out in cash
debit card was last used
Sept 14
phone pinged at 6:30am (phone carrier first stated it pinged in the West Covina area, but was later learned that ping was in Arizona.)
Sept 24
car was found at the McGuireville rest area along I-17 that afternoon
car was parked in the first possible parking place sometime after 8am
car’s gas tank was on empty
clean inside car, found inside was an ice cream cup from Bashas’ and a water bottle from Love’s (Travel Stop, the nearest location being in Williams)

•his father stated he wasn’t sure if video showed whether Shane drove his car to the rest area or not.
•he feels it’s a possibility the car was parked in the first parking spot because it was running out of gas.
•father thinks it’s possible Shane hitch hiked after parking his car.

My question:
Where was Shane from when he was last seen (on video) Sept 13 til his car was left at the rest stop on Sept 24?

  • #47
If you're going to hitch hike you would take your phone and/or cpu.
Unfortunately, I think something happened very early on in this timeline gap & that is why the car was only 20mins up the road ten days later.
My question is why so much cash? Did someone see this transaction & follow him? Casino?

Camp Verde to Williams
Is Williams on the way from West Covina to Camp Verde?

Camp Verde is in AZ, correct?
The title’s thread has me a lil confused. Sorry.

Yes, Williams is on one of the routes to Camp Verde (the most scenic, IMO - not the shortest). Shane would have had to drive through Needles, up onto the plateau where Flagstaff sits, then head south to the Camp Verde area.

FBI Asks for Help in Continued Search for West Covina Man Missing Since September

Shane fueled up his BMW at a supermarket in Camp Verde on September 13.
Shane’s BMW 328i had no gas left in the tank.

Does fueled up mean he got a full tank of gas on Sept 13?

I don't think we know - but one would assume so. Which means that 11 days later the car is out of gas. I think.

Pretty sure that's how the timeline goes. Car is found at McGuireville (not far from Camp Verde, but 11 days later - there's lots to see in the area, but we don't know if he was sightseeing, or if he had a full tank of gas).

which has me asking, what was going on those 11 days? And was Shane even with his car those 11 days??

Both really good questions.

For him to be on empty at McGuireville by going there straight from Camp Verde, he would have had to have bought almost no gas in Camp Verde or gone off on side roads for a lot of miles.

I do notice his interest in filmmaking that his film short has a kind of Indiana Jones theme (I didn't watch the whole thing but it is set in the outdoors). He had been to this area before, IIRC, and there are some really interesting Anasazi ruins and much else in the vicinity. It's not that far to Oak Creek Canyon, for example.

Did he know anyone in that area, I wonder? Some online friends? If he did hang out on his own or with others for a few days, driving around, then he's headed back toward the Camp Verde area, perhaps spending the night in the rest stop?

Do AZ rest stops all have cameras?

Here’s the thing, there was no camera that showed him taking out the money, there was no cameras at the rest stop where the car was found, he didn’t take anything with him for an extended trip along with being pretty close to his parents he mentioned nothing about leaving. I don’t think he was out there for days on a planned trip. They suspect foul play but there’s been very little released as publicly.

•Steven Rollman said his son was captured on video at Bashas’, but that was the last place he was seen. His son also took out $700 in cash.

Surely there’s cameras where he took out the cash..IMO.

Now as far as cameras at the rest stop...??

Ok, never mind! Answered my own question.
I found this link:
Mother Hopes To Find Missing 31-Year-Old Son From West Covina

It states he took $700 out at an ATM that did NOT have any cameras.

This is a heartbreaking update.
Do you have a verified source we can link here to confirm?

I’m waiting for it, I’m not sure if it’s going to be something they post in the news regarding the case but I’ve heard from a very reliable source close to the family that yesterday the body found was confirmed to Shane’s. I’ll post as soon as I have more details.

I am a resident of the Verde Valley (not far from where the body was found a few days ago). On the Verde Independent FB page, there was an update about human remains found but nothing indicating or hinting it was Shane. However, local talk is that it was him which is so sad. The body was found not far from the rest area :(

Scroll down to the pictures of a 4-wheeler & a guy standing behind a ranch gate to read the story about the human remains that were found & where
