I also wonder if it could be a hotel or nearby business or something. I doubt anyone looking for their missing wife/sister/friend/etc has time to put up Xmas decor

A lot of excellent sleuthing here; imo.

Agreed that Hubby probably did not put up any decorations since Sherri went missing. Now THAT would be strange.

Wonder if anyone who visits them (extended family, close friends) noticed anything different about their house ? I.e., furniture moved around, pictures where there weren't any before, etc. ?

I feel for those who loved Sherri, and I think it's way too soon to say the search should be expanded or that she might be in a different area ??
Couldn't she be held at a neighbor's house ? Have they checked the houses in the area ?

:moo:

Didn'a witness say they saw someone in a gray and pink outfit sitting on a bridge? What bridge would that be and does it go over water?

RSBM

Did you have a link for that ? Interesting. Maybe they need to search bodies of water/rivers ? :(

I hope this isn't suicide.

There's another woman missing. She was living in Lewiston which is about an hour away from Old Oregon Trail and Sunrise Drive. Stacey Smart last had contact with her family on October 12, 2016.

http://kymkemp.com/2016/11/07/trinity-county-woman-missing/

Santos explained that her mother who is also known as Stacey Hamilton doesn’t have a car or driver’s license. “Also, she can’t walk very well due to an injury to her left leg,” Smart’s daughter said. “I have tried social media to get the word out that her family is looking for her…[N]o one has seen her in weeks. It is out of her Character to go so long without contacting her family.”

Stacey SmartSantos said she filed a missing persons’ report with the Trinity County Sheriff’s Department on Wednesday, November 2. She asked, “If you could please spread the word that her family is looking for her, it would be greatly appreciated.”

Smart is 52 years old. She is about 5’8″ with blue eyes and pixie cut hair–slightly shorter than that shown in the photo. “She likes to wear hats,” Santos said. “She has a lower-back tattoo of a red lotus blossom.”

Smart last had contact with her family on October 12. According to the Trinity County Sheriff’s Office, “At the time Ms. Smart was living at a residence in Lewiston. Stacey Smart has not been located at that residence and it is unknown at this time where she might have gone or what she was wearing at the time of her disappearance.”

Anyone with any information please contact the Trinity County Sheriff’s Department at (530) 623-3740.

This was already talked about earlier and they confirmed it was a man.

Any touch DNA or prints on her phone ? Any unusual phone/text activity ? Anything found in her vehicle ? She is so petite...from behind she would resemble a child/teen..Hope she' s found soon.

From a previous news source, http://www.nbcnews.com/feature/miss...fornia-mother-sherri-papini-last-seen-n679321

Keith Papini, Sherri's husband, tracked her cell phone to less than 1.5 miles east of Interstate 5 in the Mountain Gate area north of Redding using the Find My iPhone application. Sherri's ear buds were still in the phone, with strands of her hair attached. No other items were recovered at the scene.

This seems to parallel this kind of pathway that runs from Old Oregon Trail (@just north of sunrise rd) up towards the mountains. It isn't listed as a road, but it's gated at OOT and has a turnoff from Sunrise Road as well. Looks like it might be an access road, or a hiking trail. Just this road that's not on the map. To quote Rabbit from Twister it's "like 'Bob's Road' " Some random road.

pretty creepy.

How far from her house was the phone found?

  • #431
Ok, here's where it gets VERY creepy. There's pretty much only one building on this pathway. About halfway up there's a giant metal shed/garage with construction machinery outside in various locations. Much secluded.

I'm also wondering about this race thing, what if she was out canvassing the neighborhood looking for pledges, and she encountered someone with less than honorable intentions. Sorry, sounds so "mind won't wanna go there"

"According to the Shasta County Sheriff Tom Bosenko, they have not yet found Sherri in any of the surveillance footage that they have gone through."

Curious if there's any surveillance footage that SHOULD show her if she was in the area at that specific time ?
As in odd that she wasn't seen on sec. cams anywhere ever ?

Any sec. cams at her house ?

I'm assuming the last people to see her would be husband and children. So did she call/text, see, or talk to any extended family or friends like the day or evening before ?

Just to clarify for anyone who hasn't been perusing this group - Keith's step-dad (or his Moms long term fiancé) has been commenting here and providing more detail. IMO it seems trust worthy information but I understand that it has to be treated as rumor

Crime is pretty high in Redding - necessitating such a group with a lot of active users.

I live in a comparably low crime city in California, but we have one of these local pages too. Interesting things I don't know about because we live out in a rural area much like Sherri's neighborhood.

I'm so sad his family is being put through this. It's awful, and we see it over and over and over. When a family is going through the very worst thing imaginable, the public turns on them and attacks them. I don't think it used to be like this, at all. It's like a sport now - look at the hurting family, and kick them in the teeth.

Like The Lottery by Shirley Jackson. Why are we like this now, a society with zero compassion? The term schadenfreude comes to mind. :(

Yes, JeannaT, I agree it is very sad, however, statistics say to look closely at the spouse. I think posters are showing a lot of compassion for the missing mother, and just want to clear the husband.

IMHO

Family Believes Sherry Papini in Another Area By Now

"I think we exhausted the resources that we have out here to search for her," said Sheila Koester, Papini's sister. "We are trying to reach out to national news and social media networks ... We feel that it's moved to where she's been taken from this area, and everyone in the nation needs to be looking."

http://www.redding.com/news/local/S...tives-in-Sherri-Papini-search--400291581.html
I wonder if there is a specific reason they think she was taken from the area?

Now, that is rare in this day and age...

Seriously. I remember an MSM article in which it was stated Sherri always had her phone with her. Anyone find ANY Social media for her?

There's an ex in the picture? I am amazed that this tidbit hasn't made it to mainstream yet. He would definitely add another player to the possible scenarios IMO.

Now, that is rare in this day and age...

Becoming less and less so, especially in certain demographics. I don't use it. And as much as it's been useful in sleuthing cases, the reason it's useful is because over time it builds a profile of your personal life that anyone can dig through. Which is by design, for marketing.

So the family is coming into defense of him now. Because they know what is being said and that there is a tide turning.

More importantly, LE is VERY aware of this also. They could stop the whole thing by publicly clearing him. Or they could say something like , " While NO ONE is cleared 100% at this time, we have NO REASON TO BELIEVE that Sherri's husband has any knowledge or any involvement in her disappearance.

LE has said that during other investigations..they need to say it now IF they can.
