Profiler suggests torture, captivity may be work of cult (brainwashing)

She pretended she was tucking in her kids to bed while she was in captivity to keep strong. Rolled up a piece of clothe and pretended it was her youngest child.

Thanks to those posting updates, you've painted a great picture, don't think I need to even watch it now.

Yeah, you do. The written word, even as well as described, can't accurately depict the true demeanor of each person interview. In my case, particularly true of KP (who appears extremely genuine to me) or Gamble (:aktion1:)

Sheriff: "We don't know if this was a random abduction or a targeted abduction." in answer to whether to be worried that perps are still out there.

That was heartwrenching!

Did the women have theirs faces covered when they approached?

Great point! KP made it seem as though Sherri approached them after they asked for help because they seemed harmless

CG says if you go into these situations thinking the victim is dead you lose hope right away

Makes sense and sounds authoritative. But can anyone find a link to a news article or any other source that indicates Gamble has any previous experience walking into a situation like this, with a kidnapping victim who might or might not be dead?

At the following link, the bio he provided to "We the People Radio" says he has trained all branches of our Special Forces, plus the Secret Service, plus LE, and that he hopes to be the "centerpiece" of family safety all across America. It does not indicate he has worked on any actual kidnappings. http://wethepeopleradiorecords.com/20121007/#.WEJBK_krIdU

Just a question, not bashing, not accusing... If SP is that battered, would a child only notice tears and not the physical changes including hair etc?

Does this make sense to anyone else? I always thought cults manipulated people and enticed them to join. Ive heard of not being able to escape a cult but not of people being abducted off the street aand tortured to be in a cult.

WOW!! So so sad. I am a mother of five and just crying for this poor mother.

Well I certainly wouldn't approach a vehicle with 2 women who had their whole faces covered

I do not want to argue at all one way or another about this being a hoax, but I do just want to mention that David Lohr, that wrote the HuffPo article, is actually a good crime writer. I was very impressed with his work on the Grateful Doe case before the match was made to Jason Callahan. In fact, he posted here about it and was very gracious in answering questions. I really hope he clarifies this discrepancy between his story and the Sheriff's Office. That is all, JMO, MOO, etc.

With the story he wrote today, I would say his credibility is zero. I would be highly suspicious of any other stories he wrote. I think he should consider writing fiction. Hopefully he is finished as a news reporter.

My problem with that idea is what cult has mostly Spanish-speaking Hispanic women running around abducting middle-class housewives in rural areas?

Could explain the position of phone. She takes off the earphones, coils up the buds as she is walking toward them. Maybe they point a gun and tell her to put the phone down. She does so.

Woman calls 911.

Sherri is disoriented, doesnt know time or day.
Which confuses me considering she can recall specifically a 2.5 hour drive at one point after being abducted.
