First and foremost Websleuths is a true crime discussion forum. A very close second is we are a victim friendly forum. Rarely do these two descriptions collide. In the Papini case, discussion forum and victim friendly forum smash head-on into each other.

First and foremost we are a discussion forum.

Because there are many mainstream media articles about the discrepancies in Sherri's story, we must allow a discussion to contain opinions that Sherri is not truthful, and the next logical leap is we must allow the theory that Sherri is not telling the truth about her kidnapping.

This is very difficult. We have the police saying they believe Sherri is telling the truth yet there are discrepancies.

Not that this played any part in my decision on what to allow in the Papini discussion I can tell you I can't find anyone who believes her other than a handful of posters on Websleuths.

Let me just throw this out there;what if everyone is wrong? Can you imagine the pain?

Before I tell you the rules for discussion Sherri's case, I want to envision you are sitting with Sherri, her husband, and her CHILDREN, while you are telling them your theory. Keep that vision in your mind while you type your post.

Whatever you choose to say (within TOS of course) you can do so in a kind and mature manner. With that in mind here is what is now open for discussion.

*You can discuss the discrepancies in Sherri's statements, her husband's, or anyone else who has given a statement to the police.

*You can discuss the discrepancies reported by the mainstream media. Example: Fox News Story Sherri Papini case: DNA evidence triggers new questions over 'super mom' kidnapping claim

*You can discuss, like a mature person who is expressing their opinion in front of the whole Papini family, why you believe Sherri Papini is not telling the truth. A side note if you want I would love to read your theories on why the police are so adamant she is telling the truth

*You cannot use rumor and innuendo to explain your theory as to why Papini made up the kidnapping story. Must be fact-based. Meaning mainstream media and police sources.

If everyone uses common sense and does not reduce this discussion to name calling and all kinds of other immature acts, we shouldn't have a problem.

Basing your opinion/posts on the facts in this case and doing so in a mature manner will mean the Papini thread will stay open. We shouldn't have any problems.

Sherri Papini: Husband of woman who faked 2016 kidnapping, files for divorce and child custody - CNN

Papini told the court she was in treatment for anxiety, depression, and PTSD for about five years starting in 2016 and struggled a bit during middle school.

Keith Papini, in his filing, said that his wife was “not acting in a rational manner.”

His wife had lied to their children about her disappearance, Keith Papini said in a court document. “The fact that their mother lied to them on such a major issue is something they, and I, are having a hard time dealing with. We, both children and I, need time to recover and stabilize.”

According to the divorce petition, the Papinis have been married since October 2009 and separated on March 3, the same day she was arrested on federal charges.

Sherri Papini’s attorney declined to comment on the filing.

Papini is currently staying with a relative in Chico, California, roughly 75 miles south of where Keith and the children live, court documents show.

Papini faces a maximum sentence of 25 years in prison and up to $500,000 in fines. She will be sentenced on July 11.

Keith has already won a series of legal battles in the divorce – including having his ex-wife declared an ‘unfit parent’ & gaining sole legal & physical custody of T & V. Papini is allowed only supervised visits with the children which take place at a court building in Redding & voice & video calls at Keith’s discretion.
On March 3, 2022, Sherri Papini was arrested by the FBI, accused of lying to federal agents & faking her kidnapping to spend time with her ex-boyfriend, away from her husband & family. Six weeks after her arrest, Papini signed a plea deal admitting that she had orchestrated the hoax. In September, 2022, she was sentenced to 18 months in prison & fined $300,000. Papini was released from prison in August, 2023 & placed in a halfway house. In April, 2022, a few days after Sherri pleaded guilty to fraud charges, Keith filed for divorce from his wife & for sole custody of their children. Trial began on 10/31/23 & ended same day.

She is NOT well! For her therapist to state that she "broke through a very difficult defense mechanism of lying and she is now, most of the time, quite honest". This tells me he is not a good therapist. She has a personality disorder and dissociation. This says it all, and they should not be helping her to cause her kids more harm. IMHO, this continuation of a story is harmful to her very innocent children.

Yeah, I had considered watching out of curiosity to see what she'd say, but now that I know that she's just going to accuse James Reyes, I think I'll pass.

The new ID docuseries includes interviews with Sherri and her parents, Richard and Loretta Graeff. In Caught in the Lie, Sherri now accuses her ex-boyfriend James Reyes, who previously denied any wrongdoing in the case, of abducting her after she intended to end their long-distance affair, which she hid from her then-husband Keith. “The injuries that occurred... the bites on my thigh, the footprint on my back, the brand, the melting of my skin—I am telling you there was no consent,” she said, according to People.

Another piece of information Sherri reveals is that she was sexually abused “really early on in childhood” by someone other than her parents. She says the experience helped mold her personality. “It really led to this shaping of, OK, if I can just please this person and if I can placate or make them calm down or make them be OK, I’ll get hurt less,” she said, according to US Weekly.

Her mother, Loretta, seemingly corroborates this story, acknowledging there was “inappropriate sexual behavior that I really don’t want to get into.”

It remains to be seen what other new claims Sherri might share in the docuseries. The first two episodes air Monday, May 26, on Investigation Discovery starting at 9 p.m. ET, with the final two airing the following night.

Her "therapist" is an insane psychologist who desires fame above all else. He is riding Sherri's coattails. He claims he cured his own personality disorder and can cure others too! Dr Stephen Diggs of NYSA therapy is bad, bad news.

He employed Suzanne Papini and he and Suzanne set Sherri up with her last (not current) boyfriend, Shawn Hibdon. How's that for ethical? Sherri and Shawn both said they were in a "doctor-approved" relationship and that they were "healing" each other.

I’m watching the show now. They haven’t yet gotten to the new Sherri stuff, but the interview with Reyes back then was an interesting rewatch. He seems believable, but bizarrely relaxed about the experience, including branding her. I don’t understand why he didn’t consider that SP was having a mental breakdown and call for help. Or recognize that it was a hoax and call the police.

SP speaks near the end for maybe a minute. Says she was covering up the kidnapping back then by changing the identity of the kidnappers. She sounds exactly as full of it now as she did back then.
