Her husband does too, and the children. Same for all the agencies that went looking for her. If she was “more” truthful this wouldn’t have happened. Just be truthful, “more” truthful doesn’t cut it.

I wonder if James is just going to ignore her current position or if he will file against her for slander. For him to not have said anything about it yet seems chill.

I’m watching the show now. They haven’t yet gotten to the new Sherri stuff, but the interview with Reyes back then was an interesting rewatch. He seems believable, but bizarrely relaxed about the experience, including branding her. I don’t understand why he didn’t consider that SP was having a mental breakdown and call for help. Or recognize that it was a hoax and call the police.

*Adding - ex-bf passed a polygraph.
SP speaks near the end for maybe a minute. Says she was covering up the kidnapping back then by changing the identity of the kidnappers. She sounds exactly as full of it now as she did back then.

I think the timeframe from the time she “left” him to go back to her life, and the time they actually talked to him played a big part in his reaction.




She freaking signed a plea deal admitting she was in on the hoax. She has waffled too many times and just wants money now - that is why her story changed again. No more, no less. She is still a liar being given a stage to act on. I agree, the innocent kids are the ones that have been hurt the most. She doesn’t care though.

You know what would be weird if she has told Reyes to go along with it and she will give him a cut of the monies made. Who knows, but she is awfully bold to incriminate Reyes to this extent not knowing what his reaction would be. He should be blindsided by it.

Keith has already won a series of legal battles in the divorce – including having his ex-wife declared an ‘unfit parent’ & gaining sole legal & physical custody of T & V. Papini is allowed only supervised visits with the children which take place at a court building in Redding & voice & video calls at Keith’s discretion.
On March 3, 2022, Sherri Papini was arrested by the FBI, accused of lying to federal agents & faking her kidnapping to spend time with her ex-boyfriend, away from her husband & family. Six weeks after her arrest, Papini signed a plea deal admitting that she had orchestrated the hoax. In September, 2022, she was sentenced to 18 months in prison & fined $300,000. Papini was released from prison in August, 2023 & placed in a halfway house. In April, 2022, a few days after Sherri pleaded guilty to fraud charges, Keith filed for divorce from his wife & for sole custody of their children. Trial began on 10/31/23 & ended same day.

Oh that's so stupid. Her, not you! She was "free" by that time, so she didn't have to leave bread crumbs. Plus, he could hear what she was saying, like he's not gonna figure that out? But everyone else will??

The only problem is, James’ mother is Irish, not Hispanic! When confronted with that fact, she said, “Oh, well she’s Irish then. I only met her a couple times.” Every time she got caught in a lie on this program, she had some ready made, or in this case, totally lame response.

I also could not believe she blamed James for kidnapping and abusing her, saying it was completely non-consensual, totally contradicting the plea agreement she signed admitting to the hoax. It was so clear she lied to the camera over and over, and she keeps changing her story.

She and her parents also blamed Keith for her unhappiness and emotional affair with James. I don’t really know what their marriage was like, but her constantly playing the victim grates on my nerves. I normally am a victim’s advocate, but it is easy to see right through her lies and manipulations, as the FBI did. I wish we could have heard from Keith directly on this docuseries. The emotional wringer she put her husband and kids through for 22 days, grrrrrrrr………He is better off without her.

It was so hard watching it. I feel she killed her daughters sense of safety, love and endless questions about mom that they should not haven't happen in the first place. Well with the post nup and living with parents, she can't get a job so I think it was for money. Plus paying for the hoax. I don't believe her

It’s been awhile since I watched but 2 things stand out: she was telling people that he was abusive. Once they were playing Wii Sports and her friend hit her accidentally and she told others the bruise was from Keith. Her friend was in the doc and was kind of like wtf? Another was that Keith didn’t seem to think they had major problems (besides maybe money. She didn’t want to work but still wanted to send the kids to daycare; he didn’t want to spend the $ if she was home.) She had texted Keith the day of the kidnapping to come home for lunch-time sex but he either couldn’t or didn’t see the text. So how bad did she think her marriage was if she was doing that? Keith didn’t think that was abnormal.

IMO he comes off as being kind of dumb about this whole situation. I believe his version (and evidently the cops do too) but agreeing to come get her knowing she claimed she was kidnapped and then agreeing to do some of the abuse make him look extremely stupid to me. If I were him, I’d be laying low from public ridicule and the small percent of people who actually believe her stupidly unbelievable story.
