They certainly could find her. It has happened before. It is almost humanly impossible to cover every inch of an area.

Do you remember when Duncan had absconded? When he was on the lam he stayed at national parks and RV parks along the way to Idaho. I hope they are checking out any absconded sex offender even if they are from a neighboring state. Remember Idaho had no idea about Duncan because they didnt have him listed in their data bank. He was only listed in his homestate.I hope LE has merged their information all together from every state but the government is slow to update and enter in any current information.

Imo, this person has done this before and I feel very strongly he has a past criminal record.

IMO

Had to correct my post, didn't copy correctly. Bolded above: There is a term when there is failure to do what you've said above, it's called: Linkage Blindness.

Here's another view but from Bing maps
http://binged.it/HPYZ7B

Now that could certainly be the case too. He hid them and if he wanted them found why not put them where they wouldnt be secreted away?

It is so hard to get into the mind of someone capable of doing something this heinous. Maybe it is a serial killer wannabee. I dont know but I do think if caught it will be learned that he has a criminal history of some sort.

I just dont see someone doing this that had always lead an upstanding life.

Ugh, it's getting ugly over there.

IMO, that woman needed to do her research before passing judgement, especially in such a callous manner - in extended periods of severe stress/grief, people will run the whole gamut of emotions/non-emotions over time. You can't judge by passing impressions, especially in such a rare & extreme circumstance.

All JMO

yes it is....

and just jumping off your wonderful post to remind everyone about what is in the opening post of this thread (we are not going to be sleuthing the parents or the boyfriend). thanks everyone

Do we know that they are not using HRD dogs? They may be utilizing them also....IMHO

I hope we find the answer. Just from looking at the overgrowth and trees hung over the water around them seems like a potential spot to anchor someone.

Unless they are looking for the shoes flung out to the middle areas.
I'm baffled how this is playing out from one clue to another.

I think it was said early on that her phone did not leave the area? Could be wrong...

Just an observation, just a feeling persay..... But does anyone else feel a spark back in LE in this case? I do..... They are talking again, maybe saying very little but talking.... Something sparked them, they are on the hunt.....I feel it, don't you?

shoot... I don't have the link handy.. but I read an article that said they were using hrd dogs on the boats (there was even a picture)

imhoo they are also looking for other items that are missing as well (keys, shoes, socks etc) that is just :moo: however

CA Sierra Lamar, 15, Santa Clara County, 16 March 2012 timeline and media thread - Websleuths Crime Sleuthing Community

From March 28th:
The Santa Clara County Sheriff's office sent dive teams to Uvas Reservoir, Parkway Lake and Ogier perk pounds on Wednesday. Investigators said they will only send an actual diver into the water if a trained dog that specializes in water borne detection gets a hit for possible human remains.

The dogs and their handlers will be on boats with divers at the ready.

Santa Clara County Sheriff Laurie Smith told NBC Bay Area's Marianne Favro that Sierra's abduction was not a planned event. "We believe this was a situational crime," Smith said, meaning it was a crime of opportunity by a stranger. Smith also said she thinks the person who took Sierra knows the south county area very well and has strong ties there.

I agree. I think they were getting worn down with all of these searches with no results, but now they seem to be re-energized & focused, IMO.

Those ominous words ( "quiet " and a place where 'nothing happens ' ).... Historically their use spells trouble.

Couldn't agree more. Seems like LE feels they are close. They are picking up momentum. Finally a concrete purpose to follow. On twitter, Karina Rusk posted LE isnt ready to name a poi just yet.

Things are narrowing

I now have the utmost faith that LE is onto something in those percolation ponds. Can you imagine the expense and time and manpower that must be going into these water searches? I've NEVER heard of a case where every single body of water was systematically searched with sonar and divers without there being a very good reason why.

Celina Cass case. Has a perp. been found yet on that one?

I am really intrigued by the posting person from her twitter who taunted using different names. I read all the posts today (here) since last night, and there are a lot of very good comments. Although new, I followed this from day #1. I'm the mother of 2 lovely daughters and I can't imagine what Sierra's parents/family are going through.

I even sent in my own tip. In a local craigslist (we are hundreds of miles north of Morgan Hill) is a van for sale that is from Morgan Hill. Why? I found it wierd. I sent that tip in many days ago and had to call 3 #s to do so. Nobody seems concerned, but it really strikes me as odd...just putting it out there. Of course, maybe the seller wants some exposure to sell the van and it's completely innocent, but why not sell it locally also?

I have thoughts, deffinitely, about the perp's behavior. I agree. He had to know the family. Was it one or two men? Two condoms were located. I do think that they knew the family. This may describe why items were tossed. Not only to taunt, and get rid of evidence, but to return the clothing and belongings to the family. Don't forget, however, that many offenders keep a reminder of the event to relive over and over again.

I think DNA was connected between items. Perhaps condoms and undies. Perhaps the shirt found near the pond (and the blood someone rumored on it) to an item of Sierra's or to her own DNA which her mother provided. Perhaps there is mud on that shirt leading investigators to now concentrate on the ponds.

I think we will all know very soon, but I think the perpetrator/s live or work right in the neighborhood. I think they see her for a long time. This could be a big brother. A friend. Someone quiet who keeps to himself. Someone who plays video games a lot and is introverted...shows signs of OCD such as neatly folding items and who feels that by returning her items, it undoes the act just a little.

We will find answers soon.

I own 2 large dogs. I go to bed around 2 am and every morning around that time, I walk them outside so they won't have to go later on and wake me up. I hate being awoken. I also will walk them if they wake me...why? Because carpeting is expensive to replace.

Percolation ponds hold the treated wastewater from sewers. The heavier waste sinks to the bottom of the pond where they are slowly percolated/filtered into the ground.
http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/effluent

Maybe Sierra's clothes or purse were found to have treated sewage on them?
Hmmm....back to the secreted or urine rumor.

Those poor divers!
