She made the mistake of using the same screen name for all her accounts. This mistake makes it very easy to follow any child around the internet, find their parent's name, and then their address.

I know...she presented herself as very differently, I hope, than she probably was. And she often tweeted about wanting more followers and kept count...I noted at one point she made a joke about some organization for Huskies was following her...who knows, it could be some sicko who worked there, or a huskie lover, anyone...JMO

Well, if her account was hacked, it certainly was an excellent demonstration as to how her Twitter account could have been hacked or posted by someone else on the day she disappeared, also.

I don't think parents are that aware of tumblr, twitter and some of the others, so it would be quite shocking to find your childs page like that. It really disturbs me that all of the ones that I have looked at have equally explicit material on them. Their parents obviously don't know and I want to scream out to them. This is serious stuff, these kids, under 18 have pornographic material on them and this shouldn't be allowed by tumblr. They are also associating with gang bangers and drug dealers and the kids have no clue what kind of dangers they are putting themselves in. I can't beleive after what has happened her friends accounts are all still open and the parents haven't caught on to this.

It's obvious that the more people you get to follow you the cooler you are on twitter. I really feel that someone needs to bring attention to these parents of what the kids are doing on social media.

I agree with you the parents are clueless and they should know about what their kids are posting.After all I am sure most of them are paying for their cell phones and computer service.

It is kind of ironic that Sierra's phone would be shut off at 9PM..and she would just switch to her computer to continue posting, she even joked about it and complained how using the lap top made her neck hurt...

I would imagine a lot of parents in No Cal are more aware now, as many have probably seen or heard about Sierra's twitter...

Amen. And her Twitter and Tumblir accounts should have been turned to private after she was abducted. My gosh, the whole world can read these! I thought I was broad minded, but this stuff blew me away. What would an older conservative reader from, say, the Mid-west (as compared to California) think? Doesn't leave a very good impression IMHO. Whether or not she was just trying to be cool, this is what she projected. Poor kid needed boundaries.

What I find odd is the photos of nude women... Not just that they Are nude, but they are raunchy nude... Returned or tweeted.... Is this a new thing for teenage girls? Or is Sierra a lesbian? maybe that is why there is no boyfriend or crush (whatever words Danielle said) is because there was girlfriend? Maybe a jealous ex-girlfriend?

I still think a female was involved ...

Oh, it's not just her, it is all the kids. I don't blame the parents because IMHO they don't even know it exists. I think most of us have all learned how to monitor our kids facebooks but tumblr and twitter aren't monitored by parents and the kids know that the parents are oblivious to this. I think it's a good time to educate parents on the advances in social media that our kids are using.

I read the rules on tumblr and the only thing I could find is you have to be 13 to use it. It also mentioned a few things like bullying, mutilation but as long as it's not child , is acceptable. It never mentioned anything about drugs either. This is just one more thing we have to worry about with our kids and the advances in technology that we adults can't keep up with.

I noticed that on the other girls pages also. My first thought when I saw her tumblr way back was that this can't be hers. I thought then maybe someone hacked into her tumblr account. Maybe they just think the more graphic it is the more appealing it will be to others. I also wondered if some of those graphic photos were possibly acctual crimes being committed or maybe they are from movies.

The thing is, even a lot of people here at WS were not shocked by Sierra's social presence...to me, that is even scarier. People say it is "normal"...if it is, it is only because somehow the world has allowed it become so...JMO...I know I have kinda harped on this, but I have 5 nieces and I frequently snoop thru their SM sites, and have never seen anything remotely resembling anything like I have seen since coming to "know" Sierra and her friends. And I look at a lot of pages, as I tend to browse thru their friends, etc. so we are talking probably hundreds of girls...(yes, I have too much time, I admit that...)

Even after all this time, it somehow seems that many parents feel their kids are safe as long as they are in their rooms...when in fact they may be exposing themselves to many thousands of people they would never have come across in their daily lives otherwise...JMO

I agree, clu. The language I've read in the tweets might be common for a number of teens, but as far as I'm concerned, they are NOT indicative of a happy teen, regardless of what anyone wants to believe.

I've raised two teen girls and have interacted with their friends on many occasions. The signs are all there, if one is willing & able to see them. If teens are isolating themselves in their rooms - it's time to intervene & find out what's going on.

Meh, they are teens. They get lots ideas but don't have the wisdom (brain development) to filter out the stupid ones. They're impulsive and they have a limited ability to foresee consequences.
