Indeed. Personally I think it's a 99.9% chance it's the same car and that the lighting is making the handles look different. But, you never know - if the car was involved in Sierra's disappearance, maybe they switched out the door handles just to be "safe" re: evidence. I still think it's the lighting, but maybe the handles are different...I wouldn't be totally surprised.

could be quite possible, not ruling anything out, but my bet is on angles and lighting.

  • #562
I'm pretty sure that is it. When I'm doing 3D renders, similar effects happen all the time as I change angles/lighting. It happens most often with smooth surfaced, semi-reflective materials, traits that are consistent with a car door handle.

Yes this is my feeling too. We usually post around 60 pics of our cars bc of this reason.

Walnut Creek intermediate school is 60miles from 18 Paquita Espana court.. but the LE say the red car was seen over and over on cameras in Morgan hill so I believe its likely he lives in that area or has to pass through that are to get to when he lives...not sure if the two are connected given the distance but anythings possible...praying that there really is something indicating shes alive and its not just the same old there's nothing indicating that she's not...

I want to believe it isn't connected - at least as far as motive and chances of this being random and not some serial stalker/killer. So, for the sake of odds, let's say it isn't :please:

They said that it was spotted over & over within the key time frame & locations, but I haven't seen anything from LE indicating that it was spotted at other times.

As for LE's comments about believing her to be alive, the full quote involves just the type of statement you mention:

"We still do believe she's alive. We don't have any evidence leading us in the direction that she's no longer alive," Sgt. Jose Cardoza said.

I am thinking (hoping) that is a lighting issue with the car door handles. The other picture, where it is blurry also makes them appear black/dark, so.....

If anyone is local to the area, I need your help. Do you recognize where the car was in this picture?

To answer your question (or not), I've been Google street viewing Morgan Hill Police station. It's not parked there, but I expect it's parked where they are doing their investigation. There is someone standing by the driver's door in that picture (looks like he's wearing brown mechanic coveralls), but they've cropped his head off. I hate it when they do that!

I am keeping my fingers crossed that this car belongs to a friend of Sierra and this is why LE has stated they still feel Sierra is alive.

That is what I am thinking myself. Sierra it time to come home Girl to many people care and miss you.

my guess would be that it's LE and this car was abandoned and that's why it's cropped otherwise they would probably release it at this point if they felt they had the actual suspects pic. I am guessing that this pic is after the fact and the others where it appears the vehicle is moving is from camera shots during the time period of the disappearance.

I do not think Google Street View is real time, unless something has changed in the past couple of months.

It is not real time. Can be a couple of years old. I was trying to spot the little spruce tree or the curbs.

Carp...was hoping they wouldn't pull out that old cliche as being the reason they feel she is alive, but sure enough...:(

Oh, haha, got ya. I misunderstood. I think that is a Target parking lot, but I could be wrong. I would guess that is LE on the driver's side, but I could be wrong; probably why he is cropped out, though.

just had a thought....

I think that rear tire/wheel that is different is a spare. I'm betting the other rear side matches the front. Obviously these are custom wheels and tires and I bet this car had a flat maybe due to where ever it has been terrain wise? Maybe that's when the suspect ditched it bc in the pic of the car moving that is so blurry it looks like the tires match from what I can tell, however it is facing the opposite direction. Just a thought

About 4:30 this morning some posted about seeing twitters going on about commotion at a Target store involving the car or maybe this car in Watsonville .Can someone do a goggle of that maybe ? Address is 1415 Main st.

The wheel on the back is what comes with the car when bought new (google 1996 jetta and you can see). They either haven't got around to getting new ones for the back, or they like it that way. Here in SW Ohio, I have seen souped up cars with big wheels on the front and little ones on the back. No idea why.

Not saying you're wrong, it may be a spare, but I bet the two back wheels are just stock.

FWIW I saw a post on Twitter last night saying the car was spotted in a Target parking lot in Watsonville near a known gang hangout. This person has many tweets about her abduction being gang related. She states the car was pulled over by LE and was swarmed with cops...but she also states she saw this car in the parking lot a few weeks ago with out of state tags.

Take it with a grain of salt considering the source.

this is the post about the target

Due to the fact that the location of the vehicle found is not being released and the fact that the LE are saying with some degree of confidence (IMO) that they believe Sierra is alive, then I'm guessing they have a whole lot more information than we think and I think the water searches are proof of that, too. I've never heard of a person going missing and LE just randomly searching every creek, pond, lake and river in the county with side-sonar so methodically.

I'll bet my last dollar they have a person of interest, whether or not that person is still in the area or not, I have no idea, but there are going to be fingerprints, hair, dna in that car.

I just had the thought that this could all turn out to be a runaway case...not that I believe this to be true, but what if it is? What, exactly would happen to Sierra? I know if she ran away and people were intentionally hiding her, they would face charges, but what about her?

What kind of hang out?? And who's hang out??

ETA: I reread the post and I see it's a gang hangout.. Ugghh!

On Tuesday, detectives announced they had found the real one with the black hood. Cardoza said that detectives know who the car owner is, but there is "no person of interest" in the case yet.
Still, Cardoza said detectives need more help. "We need information about this car," he said, "and we'd like to know who was driving it before, during and after Sierra went missing."

Cardoza told reporters at a Tuesday news conference that detectives have determined that the attempted kidnapping of a 16-year-old girl who may have been shocked by a stun gun in San Jose on March 23 was not related to this case.
But he didn't rule out whether two attempted abductions in Walnut Creek in mid-March could be connected

My thoughts are total opposite. LE believes this to be an abduction and the FBI is involved that does not say runaway to me. JMO
