"We really need the public to come forward and help provide us with any information they may have about this vehicle," Cardoza said. "We want to know if they saw it in Morgan Hill, outside of Morgan Hill during the time she went missing so our investigators can piece everything together."

this is the post about the target

I went to school in Watsonville, my folks grew up there, I moved out about twenty years ago but still have a few friends/family members there. The Target in question always seems to have a few abandoned cars in the lot. Once, I parked in the lot and there was a burned out truck smoking in the lot. Literally, the tires were melted into the pavement.

Once upon a time, Watsonville was an okay place to live. Now? It's dangerous and full of gangs and crimes and violence and drugs. It makes me so sad. I wouldn't be at all surprised to find out there is a connection to Watsonville and, in fact, the main route from Watsonville to Morgan Hill would take the driver very close to where Sierra's bus stop is. For what its worth, many of the field workers live in the Watsonville area and there are quite a few people who commute from Watsonville into South San Jose so this potential connection isn't at all surprising, really. It actually would make a lot of sense. I realize this is just some kid's tweet and really worthless but it wouldn't surprise me.

Oh, haha, got ya. I misunderstood. I think that is a Target parking lot, but I could be wrong. I would guess that is LE on the driver's side, but I could be wrong; probably why he is cropped out, though.

Unless I am mistaken, Target stores have cameras in the parking lot that are pretty good quality. My checkbook was stolen a few years ago and the thieves hit a number of stores, spending my entire tax refund, my savings, and a few thousand dollars more. I viewed video in Target, Home Depot, JC Penney, Macy's and Home Depot, and got copies of some to take to LE. I managed to identify the make/model/year of their car they were driving, and ultimately, to decipher the tag number from parking lot cameras.

They are probably reviewing the security cam video to see how long the car was there, and who left it.

About 4:30 this morning some posted about seeing twitters going on about commotion at a Target store involving the car or maybe this car in Watsonville .Can someone do a goggle of that maybe ? Address is 1415 Main st.

You cannot do a street view in the Target parking lot, but from the above view it does look like there are a few spots that car could be parked in relation to the shrubs/trees surrounding it.

well this is interesting!!!

On Tuesday the sheriff's office released video surveillance photos of the red Jetta with a black hood they're seeking tips about. A day before, they announced they had identified the car and put out a generic photo of the make and model, but gave no indication they were in possession of it.
Cardoza acknowledged that the Monday release could have given the impression that they were seeking the car,
but remained tight-lipped about the discovery, including whether the find has spawned additional leads in the case. He would not say if investigators have talked to anyone connected with the car.

Thank you for your firsthand information. Much appreciated!

My thoughts are total opposite. LE believes this to be an abduction and the FBI is involved that does not say runaway to me. JMO

I agree. I think they are hoping she is still alive.

This part of the previous article linked makes me think they know this is not about a runaway.

Cardoza told reporters at a Tuesday news conference that detectives have determined that the attempted kidnapping of a 16-year-old girl who may have been shocked by a stun gun in San Jose on March 23 was not related to this case.
But he didn't rule out whether two attempted abductions in Walnut Creek in mid-March could be connected

Was gang activity why Sierra was pulled out of her Fremont school and moved to Morgan Hill? ( I am associating burning and abandoned cars with gangs.)

You know if the tweets are are true and the car was found in Watsonville . This case might have came full circle in a way. Iirc when this case first broke . A few days after there were a few reports of sightings of Sierra hitch hiking in Watsonville and getting into a pickup. How bizarre would it be if those sightings were true.

IMO, whoever is the driver of this car ts a young person. Maybe even a teen.

Bingo! My first impression because of the wheels, the black carbon hood, nice paint job. Doesn't look like a junker to me, and it's 15 yrs old plus-or-minus. Something tells me they have been watching the car for awhile. Perhaps got a partial plate # from the surveillance videos. Mmmmmm.

I zoomed in from above too, but I couldn't find any small spruce trees like in the car picture. I was anxious that I might see a red car with black hood in the parking lot lol.

When Rafferty was arrested (in Tori's case) I found the LE garage with blue doors that identified where his car was taken. Google is my friend. :)

In the picture of the car that is being referenced above, you can tell that, next to the car, there is a Palm Tree, so look for a parking lot place where it could be parked with those shrubs in front of it, with landscaping to the side of it, including a Palm Tree. Not sure how someone can see a person standing next to it. Isn't that photo supposed to be one of the ones from a surveillance camera in and around SL house in Morgan Hill?

By the way, where is all the information coming from about a Target in Watsonville?

The Target info was on Twitter. The other 2 photos were from surveillance video. I think this one is an LE photo after they got the car. It's easy to see the guy standing behind it... even his feet.

That's a palm tree? I thought it was a blue spruce (but I'm from Canada). Going to look again.

edit: I don't see ANY palm trees in the Target plaza.

Is it a spruce or a palm tree trunk?

I get the impression the photograph Sarx showed may be the car after it was impounded. There are definitely two images of the car caught on surveillance but not sure about this photograph..

There were a couple of tweets last night saying the car was spotted in the Target parking lot, a well-known gang hang-out, in Watsonville.

No one in LE has addressed whether the car was checked out forensically. I would think it would be a treasure trove of information.
