It's just my opinion, but I think it's a palm tree and I assumed the picture was one from surveillance video. Either way, it's fun looking.

Was gang activity why Sierra was pulled out of her Fremont school and moved to Morgan Hill? ( I am associating burning and abandoned cars with gangs.)

Not that anyone knows of. The gang activity is worse in Gilroy, Watsonville area.

yeah! Basically he said that he said he acknowledged the monday release could have "given the impression they were seeking the car" and then wouldn't give up any more info about the find.

very interesting indeed.

why show a "close" picture to the car on monday then the actual car on day two if they had the car on day one?

putting pressure on someone maybe or a group of people they are watching?

Cardoza said they identified the owner of the car, and that is all he would say. I wish the newscasts would show the entire Q-and-A presser instead of just parts!

If they know who owns the car...either the driver/owner can explain why it was in Sierra's neighborhood that morning or they can't....I am getting the impression they are not getting much cooperation since they are asking where else the car has been. And I think they are just being hopeful, about saying they believe Sierra to be alive, though I hope I am wrong. I noticed on twitter that her friends have not even considered otherwise, so if she isn't alive...I can't even imagine what they will go thru. She seems to have some very close friends in Fremont...

I am pretty sure they just found it. I know Cordoza's statements can be construed otherwise, and maybe LE did get the car over the weekend. Like I said before, they may have found it over the weekend, released it Monday as if they didn't have it just to see if the owner would come forward (especially if they haven't been able to locate him). It indicates guilt if they can't find him and he doesn't come forward, and at the same time puts others on the lookout if they happen to know who was driving it.

'Anything' to generate leads when you're at a dead end, as long as it doesn't put anyone else in harm's way.

All just theories and opinions, of course.

If it was parked someplace secluded, they may have found it this weekend, and watched to see if anyone approached it. When they didn't, LE could have decided to leave it where it was and put out the word Monday that they were "looking for it", assuming the owner would go to the car to try to move it, burn it, or something. When nobody showed up again Monday night, and numerous callers had reported its' location, LE went ahead and picked it up today, since it had lost its value as bait.

I think the reason they did not provide a photo yesterday was to keep the perp from knowing they had actually found it. Red Jetta, black hood is sort of vague and obviously there is more than one, since three photos have been posted here alone.

FWIW, I think the reason LE keeps saying they believe she is still alive is to allow the perp to come in, admit to having given her a ride in that car, and claim to have dropped her off somewhere alive. If LE were to say that they have no reason to hope that she is still alive, s/he has less wiggle room to explain away the DNA or other evidence in the car that will prove beyond a doubt that he and she were each in the vehicle at some point.

I agree with the prior poster who stated that LE would NOT have said there is no reason to expect she is NOT alive if a HRD dog had alerted on the car. In fact, it would have been a flat out lie. Not that LE never lies, but... it would be beyond wrong to give Marlene this new hope if they know it is an empty promise.
