I really don't know why he wasn't arrested on March 28th when they got the DNA results.

I am speculating here folks...

Maybe they ran DNA from the clothes, and it came back as a match to unsolved NH cases. In April they found the car, and ID'd the owner. I think they either had to wait for HIS test to come back for a match to the other 2 samples (Sierra and NH).

Recap

Why Sierra believed to be dead:

-evidence both direct and circumstantial incl forensic analysis
-lab results from her folded clothes in her bag matched his DNA on Mar 28
-3 assaults in Morgan Hill and he may be linked to at least one of those
-all 3 assaults were unsuccessful
-his DNA was in data base due to a prior felony arrest
-appears to be a stranger abducting young girl

-the accused spent most of his life in Morgan Hill

Thanks to all of you for the information you have provided here. I always come here to get the most up-to-date and ACCURATE AS POSSIBLE news in the cases of the missing.I am not good at ferreting it out for myself.
Such mixed feelings reading all your posts and like you guys I am glad they got him (and hope they can "seal the deal") but am so sad for Sierra and what she may have had to go through and for her family.
Prayers..........

I agree - I think they were still building the case. I also like that they put him under surveillance hoping he would lead them to the body. The fact that he didn't makes me wonder if she was placed in a dumpster.

The fact that they found the clothes she was wearing that day in her bag is just so scary. He stashed it there maybe with the intent to go back and go through it. MO
I always felt the bag was placed there for safe keeping like he wanted to keep it. Wherever she is she is naked :( - I hope they find her.

I felt right from the start when Sierra's personal clothing/items was found discarded she had been kidnapped/raped, and murdered by a stranger pedophile.

I dont think he was coming back to get it. I think he was just dumb enough to throw it out there.

Good find, nursie! At the presser they didn't say that these assaults were in a Safeway parking lot (unless I missed it).

Imo, the main thing they were hoping for was he would return to where he has discarded Sierra's remains. When that wasnt working and SS did say he may have known he was probably under surveillance.........they arrested him.

By this amount of time they knew he wasnt going to return to where Sierra's body is located.

IMO

Any word on his immigration status?

IF (and that is not confirmed) he was a Safeway employee, I would expect him to have proper documentation to work in the US.

He was in CODIS - National Database

-he was in database because of prior felony
-checked his home-found nothing that I'm aware of at this time
-he HAD worked at Safeway-he had moved from one to another several years ago
-he was in-between jobs

-we were afraid he would flee the area and then re-commit>decision to arrest
