Not to make light of what is clearly a tragedy, but some time back I remember sreshowtime climbing in different size containers to see if a human body could fit. The resulting posts were pretty funny, Oriah was razzing her.

I'm 5'5, not gonna say what I weigh, but I can fit in a 45 Gal can.

Don't think this poor person is Sierra though, MOO. That photo of the can looks like one you would buy at Home Depot or OSH, not one issued by a waste collection company, fwiw.

I think they mean the photo of the van and body on the stretcher. On the photo it says this is the can the body was found in, but the can is not on that particular photo... Hth

So, maybe ATG (or his accomplice/friend/family member) led them to her remains and that was the tip/phone call. Maybe that's why they didn't wait for Santa Clara investigators. Maybe that's why they just took the remains/body and left the rest. ?? They don't have to worry about preserving evidence if they are acting on the words of the perpetrator. ??

Thinking out loud.

It makes no sense to remove the body from the trash can, if that is what happened. Even if they had a confession, LE would still need to prove every aspect of the crime, as confessions are often withdrawn and not even leading LE to the body is always enough. I can't imagine not taking the whole container, intact, to a lab...very strange, if true.

There's a Home Depot in Pleasanton off the freeway near Stoneridge Mall, but the trash can they offer online doesn't look the same.

So now there is a new WS case if this isn't Sierra. Things just keep getting stranger and stranger.

Someone buys a new trash can to stuff a body into and leaves it some place to be found.

If this turns out to be Sierra, we know one of his hommies did this to seal his fate. Maybe someone's conscience got the better of them, but I would think it was to make sure the guy in jail is convicted.

That IS just weird.

I just can not believe they would remove a body from that trash can and not take the can. It would hold a wealth of evidence.

This is truly chilling. Leaving someone in a trash can screams intense anger and revenge.

Or maybe trying to make it look like it was someone else. They don't come across as the brightest bunch. If the body isn't where LE thought it should be (MH or near) it COULDN'T have been AGT.
