I don't think it will be anything like the coverage on that case; Mickey Shunick's suspect had his arraignment last week and it was barely covered outside of the local area.

And Bless You for that Cazador! As I've posted before, the search I participated in could have missed her 1000 times over. We were moving way too fast. If LE has a forensic psychiatrist at their disposal, they will figure out where he stashed her, or at least significantly narrow it down. I suspect that is why they have spent so much time where he went "fishing".

She *will* be found, and he will rot in jail for the rest of his miserable life, if they inmates don't get to him. Especially the ones with daughters of their own....

I was just having a quick look at the official Find Sierra website and see there is a searchers appreciation bbq scheduled for a week or so. I am glad there are still people searching regularly, hopefully she will be located soon.

There is also a 4 part documentary on the search, I haven't watched it yet, just thought I'd let people know.

I am thinking of Sierra's friends and family, hoping they are drawing comfort and strength from each other.

I honestly didn't have many hopes for Mickey Shunick's body to be found, yet it happened. I so hope the same will happen for Sierra.

You're right, diamond12. Life surprises us and a defeatist set of expectations only damages the case. The amount of time Garcia-Torres is taking before entering a plea is unusual but again, it profits nothing to sink into discouragement. In the meantime, new evidence may surface and the search for Sierra goes on.

Even if Garcia-Torres has a strategy, the refusal to enter a plea over these months, makes "not guilty" seem calculated & disingenuous. (If you are not guilty, you know it straight away.)

Does anyone else find it kinda sad that her friends just sorta... moved on? I don't know. Maybe I'm a bit too emotional for all this but it went from tweeting every few minutes about how distraught they all are and now just.. nothing? :/ Maybe I've got it wrong.

Is this delay all about waiting to see how much LE will reveal about their evidence? As in Mickey's case? As soon as the evidence was made public, the plea, and the discovery of her body followed very quickly...

To be fair I'm reasonably young, but I still wouldn't just kinda 'get on' with life and act like everythings normal if my supposed best friend was murdered and they were actively searching where we live for her body.. ya know what I mean? Just makes you wonder how many of poor Sierras friends were actually her friends.:moo:

Ugh I hope so! Hopefully the DP will make him cop a plea deal the same way that Mickeys killer did.

Garcia-Torres is scheduled to plead on the charges on August 29. He was arrested May 21st.

I think when their distress was high and they were very scared, they wouldn't have been able to stop themselves communicating about it. I would be more worried about them if they were constantly tweeting about her now. I checked in a week or so ago and there were still mentions of her, photos tweeted etc, some amongst the usual day to day stuff. I doubt they have just forgotten.

I was 19 when one of my best friends went "missing" (presumed dead); his body has never been located...21 years later. Sadly, LE bought the friends story and a real search was never performed....supposedly, he "drown" (although he was an excellent swimmer). Oh, and he was drunk, but my friend didn't drink. :waitasec: I didn't attend his memorial service either. I was so upset, I just wanted to be alone.

After a period of time you do have to kinda "get on" with life. The way they act may not be how they are truly feeling deep down. They may be completely emotional when in private. I know that I was. Even after 21 years, I still grieve for my friend, but I know he wouldn't want me moping around wondering where he is (although I do wonder and I still cry at times).

I pray that this murderous monster will find a place in his cold heart and tell LE where Sierra is. Her family deserves that much...and more. Hasn't he caused them enough pain?!!


ETA: If I had a 15-16 year old daughter, I wouldn't let her go on a search for her bff's body. Can you imagine the trauma she would experience if she was on the group that found the body of her bff? Yes, closure, but way too much emotional damage could be done. They've already gone through enough for such a young age.

FWIW, I don't think we can judge the validity of a friendship based on what we see on Twitter.
