I wanted to post this, since some of you said that possibly Sierra could have previously accepted a ride from a person who seemed to have no ill intention the first time:

48 Hours Mystery: Escape From A Serial Killer

http://www.cbsnews.com/2100-18559_162-6986320.html

On Sept. 27, 1992, Jennifer Asbenson was 19 years old and working at a home for crippled children.

"I was working the night shift there from 10 p.m. until 6 in the morning… I went to the bus stop to catch the bus to go to work. I had run in the store to buy something and I saw that the bus had left without me, so I came running out in a panic. I knew that was the last bus for the night. I had no way to get to work.

"Somebody pulled up in a car and just said, 'Hey, do you need a ride?'"

The man, she says, looked "totally harmless."

"That's what makes him evil is that you don't see it right away," says Cook County Prosecutor Jim McKay of the man in the car. "He is smarter than you average serial killer. He learned as he killed…"

McKay says the man was waiting for Jennifer when she got off of work the next morning.

"Well, the next morning when I saw him, I wasn't scared," she tells "48 Hours Mystery" correspondent Susan Spencer. "My thought was, 'This guy is not dangerous. If he wanted to do something to me he had his chance last night.' And he said, 'Let me give you a ride home.' I opened the door and I got in the car."

Also, I have seen cases where people the closest have had strong alibis that cleared them at first. But then on second review, the alibis fell apart.

For example, in the beginning, they check the bf and he was at work by 7:30, and she texted at 7:11, so they give him the solid alibi. But maybe they decided to check back again and find hinkiness. Maybe he was at work at 7:30 am but then left work for a few hours and was not in contact with anyone. In that case they might wonder if he nabbed her at 6:30, put her in the trunk, until he checked in at work to be seen. And he could have done the same thing as the kidnappers of Hailey Dunn and Michelle and sent a text in her name.

eta: I am only speculating because LE seems to have backed off on their clearances for the time being and mom backed off on her timeline.

If the Sheriff is saying, today, that no one has been cleared...then I am not sure why anyone would be "off-limits". JMO

The perp might have dumped the phone & bag after handcuffing/raping her.
This would give him time to: #1. Fold the clothes and #2. Throw the phone 30 feet into the field.

See this map - http://g.co/maps/dkj4t

20120329_103432_ssjm0330sierra90_300.jpg

A) HOME
B) USED CONDOMS/HANDCUFF BOX
C) CELL PHONE
D) PURSE/CLOTHES

Possible Timeline:
#1. Perp abducts SL in her driveway, handcuffs her, takes her down Palm to dead end.
#2. Perp folds her clothes neatly in bag.
#3. Perp discards phone at C
#4. Perp discards bag/clothes at D
#5. Perp escapes (with or without SL)

#findsierra

IMO

This is possible, but as ive said all along, ANYTHING is possible at this point. Also, the phone could have been ditched right away before she was taken to the spot where the handcuffs and condoms were found.

And she must have left the area, because its been searched extensively with dogs.

-On a side note, I still think ANYTHING is possible with any of the family members being involved. There is no evidence at this point to make them "persons of interest", but its still possible. Sure, they have alibis, but this is also based on us assuming the last time she was seen was when her mom left for work. If that wasn't true, then the alibis mean nothing.

Not trying to imply anything there, its just I dont think they should absolutely be ruled out.

Why would the sheriff do that? I don't understand...

Who in the heck knows. Sheriffs dont investigate the cases...their detectives and Lt.s do. Maybe she needs to catch up on the case with her personnel before she speaks out again.

If she was going to go that route she should have done it from the start. Not after her staff has already come out in the media and said that all three have been cleared.

Maybe the media limelight has gone to her head.

Well the Sheriff is just blowing smoke now because we have read countless articles where LE has said they all have alibis and are not suspects in Sierra's disappearance.

IMO

I have been wondering if LE was lying .. Trying to get closer to the perp?? have they ever operated in this manner in any other case?? is it possible mom or BF were involved somehow...

What if LE did suspect the BF and told mom about it? What if mom was playing a game of "keep the enemy closer? I sure hope not because if this is what the LE and mom were doing .. I think NG show just screwed up the plan...

In previous statements they said near S.T. and Laguna. If you gone down a ways either direction there are buildings. But I couldn't map walk it. Wedged is confusing? Why would someone do that by a building instead of tossing it somewhere remote. I see clues here.

If wedged they either have a great arm and should be a pitcher for a baseball team. Or they got out of the car and placed it to hide it there. I agree they should be able to pick clues up

Both parents and Gardiner have been ruled out as suspects, and all three have alibis and can be accounted for at the time of Sierra’s disappearance, Sheriff’s Lt. Troy Smith added. Steve LaMar is a registered sex offender in Fremont, but police said he has been fully cooperative with authorities since the investigation began. Steve LaMar released a statement this week saying he immediately disclosed his previous conviction to authorities, and asked the public to focus on finding his daughter rather than on the “unfortunate” piece of his past.

This was from a Gilroy article. I will find the link.

Thank you for the link. Unfortunately that is not a direct quote from Lt. Smith. I would prefer to hear exactly what he said. With the Sheriff on NG tonight, I was able to hear what she said and what she didn't say and I tend to place more weight on that.

I dont think so. Never in my decades of researching true crime have I ever heard LE come out and clear someone and then backtrack and say they lied and they were suspects all along. It just doesnt happen.

LE doesnt say things in the media that can come back to haunt them. They have told the media that these three people have been cleared. That is the message to be believed or the police will look very foolish and untrustworthy.

I doubt it, as Mom got really angry about any questions about the BF at all...she was very calm about everything else...only showed emotion when the BF subject came up.

Not to be off-topic here :innocent: ... but I remember when Baby Lisa's mother, Deborah Bradley, CHANGED her time regarding last time she checked on the baby the night Lisa went "missing" ... the TRUTH does NOT change ...

And we could go on and on about cases here where we have seen this ...

JMO but when a family member changes WHO was the last person to see the Missing Person, that raises red flags with me ... and it certainly should raise red flags with LE ...

Nancy Grace's Show is worth watching tonight ... and I am going to re-watch it ...

I am glad she is covering this story ...

To each his own.

There are countless articles on the net that have said the same thing.

If it were not the case then they would not have assigned the Lts name to it, imo.

We have all heard from the start that the Mom was the last one to see Sierra and now her story changes that the boyfriend left after her.It would be interesting to know if she was honest with LE from the start, but why change that now.LE even stated Mom was the last one to see Sierra that morning, did they lie to the public too? I am confused is the investigation taken a different turn.I have found it strange from the start the boyfriend has been quiet. Then again the father was always around.

Big red flag :(

Did I read a local post here that Marlene generally speaks in an odd/confused way? Or somewhere else? I know I stumble over words.

They'd know when the phone was thrown generally because the ping info would have remained static I assume.

I wonder what their usual schedule was to leave for work. Who routinely left first. What time they had to be at work. LE surely has investigated that.

I imagine she has had it with the side issues.

First it was all about Steve being a RSO.

Now it is about her boyfriend when the Sheriff's own Lt. said he has been cleared and his whereabouts are accounted for.

They seem to want to talk about everything else but finding Sierra.

I will say from personal experience that a Sheriff is a mouthpiece, you are correct. However, when its a big case, the dept is given strict orders no talking to the press. This order comes from the Sheriff themselves and also the chain of command. When a statement is to be made its either made by the Sheriff or by an appointee, no one talks without the Sheriff telling them exactly what they can and cannot say and if anything is slipped heads will roll.
