I wish I had your faith in the media. I just don't.

JMO

Actually I have very little faith in the media but they are not idiots. They do not include a specific name unless that person did give them the information. The Lt. would be the first to see their heads roll if it wasnt true.

They would just use their old crutch of 'sources' or 'inside sources.'

Mom almost seems to be in shock to me and I've even thought perhaps she's medicated. She seems slow to respond and seems to be having trouble comprehending. Just a personal observation.

Big red flag :(

Did I read a local post here that Marlene generally speaks in an odd/confused way? Or somewhere else? I know I stumble over words.

They'd know when the phone was thrown generally because the ping info would have remained static I assume.

Is it possible that she's on anti-anxiety medication of some sort? I suspect that I'd require it under these circumstances.

Also, is is possible that she and the BF left at approximately the same time, and this is all a matter of semantics, i.e. who was out the driveway first? As in looking back on it, she drove away and he might have/might not have?

But yes, definite red flag.

Yes, first mom said she and Sierra were alone in the house...then NG questioned her about the BF and she said wait, he did leave after Mom...

When LE first said that the scenthounds followed Sierra's scent to the end of the driveway, her mom said that this showed that Sierra made it to the bus stop... I think she is operating on very little natural sleep, probably sedated, and going through hell right now... The things she says may not always make sense, but this is JMO...

Has anyone ever explained what are all those trailers essentially in SL backyard, there even seems to be a footpath leading from back of the house to one, it just seems odd. Also in looking at Google maps then bing maps can see where the garbage area to the side of the house, once only stalls had a roof installed. Some construction done on it, on one a boat is visible, on the other all is covered with the new roof.

I wonder if she was confused and made a mistake saying he left after she did?

it does bother me that they are not cleared tho... What changed? What date did they make that statement that all 3 were cleared? I wonder if they found evidence that made them hange their minds?

The media reporting has been terrible often conflicting You believe what you hear people say not what others say they said

I imagine she has had it with the side issues.

First it was all about Steve being a RSO.

Now it is about her boyfriend when the Sheriff's own Lt. said he has been cleared and his whereabouts are accounted for.

They seem to want to talk about everything else but finding Sierra.

IMO

I agree it would be frustrating to mom if they were confident they had all been cleared and the public wants to divert the attention away from where it needs to be "finding Sierra".

Jumping off your post here : I have seen references to this ... but what raised red flags with me was when Marlene repeatedly referred to Sierra in the PAST tense ...

A mother whose child is missing would NEVER give up hope that their child is not alive ... NEVER give up HOPE !

Some don't see "past tense" as a "problem", but IMO, I do, and I would "think" that the profilers would also ...

I didn't hear that Rick took a lie detector, only Marlene and Dad.They did say they weren't finished giving them.I wonder if they recently gave one to the boyfriend? I feel for Marlene she has been through the mill.I surely hope he had nothing to do with her missing.

On her previous call to NG, I thought Mom sounded numb. JMO

I am not concerned so much about what Mom said or how she acted...as I am with the Sheriff clearly stating that no one has been eliminated and refusing to answer questions about the BF's work or his alibi...of course that is going to make some people wonder why not. She could have easily said that all those close to Sierra have been cleared, she had the forum and she had NG grilling her, trying very hard to find out if he got to work on time, etc...and she would not answer.

It is not out of the realm of possibility that LE allows people to believe they are cleared in order to keep them cooperative.

I have no idea what LE is thinking or where the investigation is taking them, but I know of a few cases where people were "cleared" early on, only not so much, later on...

I'm actually one of those people who don't place a huge amount of importance on this; however, I do notice it. Marlene has been referring to Sierra in the past tense since this case started. I'm not sure I've ever heard her use present tense when talking about Sierra, but if she has, it's been infrequent. There are perfectly reasonable explanations for why people do this, but as I'm not a psychiatrist, I'm not going to theorize.

I don't know how this was verified, but someone here posted that the owner of the home that Sierra lives in has an import company. And they ran the business out of the home at one point.

I am curious to know more about that. Maybe they had employees that still came around to the home or had keys to the place. I wonder if they have any supplies or belongings left on the property? I wonder if Sierra ever met any of the employees. She might have felt comfortable letting one of them on the property or accepting a ride/

I've got errands to run. I need to see this NG show for myself. Sigh. Either Mom misspoke or something inside the investigation has changed and we just don't know it yet.

Need clarification on this because either this is nothing or it is "huge". I have no way to tell based on what I know as of now.

It's been about 3 weeks since Sierra went missing. Unless by some slight chance we have a Dugard situation here, I think she's more than likely deceased at this point and time. Either way she needs to come home.

I'll check back in later. :(

This is possible. I can't imagine her being able to sleep, and sleep deprivation can have major side effects. It's also possible that she's blocked something out ... maybe as a self-protective measure ... and it's coming back. JMO.

Marc K. said "apparently they took and passed LD tests..."

I am not sure how much LE really confides in MK in these cases, no offense to MK, but he is known to get close to the families rather quickly...that could prevent LE from telling him much and he could be taking his info from the family members,. JMO

Speaking from someone who has experienced some trauma in my life, Marlene would be a mess and it would be hard to speak at all. Nervous cameras around, no sleep, shock, not knowing where or what happened to Sierra and definately most likely on some meds.

I don't agree. OFTEN parents/loved ones speak in past tense because they cannot see, touch, smell their lost loved one. IT IS in the past in their minds because they aren't there anymore. It is perfectly natural since they are MISSING. JMO and from talking with the missing's families.

Just like if your kids have left home for college/jobs ... you speak OF them WHEN they lived with you = past tense.

Are you talking about the phone or the bag? Because the bag would be difficult, if it had books in it...to throw very far at all...

According to this post:

Websleuths Crime Sleuthing Community - View Single Post - SPOTLIGHT CASE CA - Sierra LaMar, 15, Santa Clara County, 16 March 2012 - #6

throwing a 30 pound bundle of papers over the roof is not difficult.

Having watched my own rural newspaper delivery, I totally believe Dewey.

That JC bag is nice and I have no doubt Sierra knew how to cram it to the brim but I'd be incredibly surprised if she were lugging a bag that weighed more than 30 pounds.
