CA CA - Skeletal Remains under Historic San Luis Rey Bridge in Bonsall, Nov 2017

A crew clearing weeds near the Bonsall Bridge over the San Luis Rey River found a human skull and at least one other bone Thursday afternoon, a sheriff’s official said.

The habitat management team reported the discovery near the bridge along state Route 76 about 2 p.m., sheriff’s Lt. Richard Williams said.

An employee for a habitat management company called San Diego Sheriff’s Department (SDSO) around 12:30 p.m. to report they may have found human bones near the Historic San Luis Rey Bridge in Bonsall, an SDSO spokesperson said.

Homicide detectives were sent to investigate.

The area deputies were searching was on the outskirts of Bonsall, near unincorporated Vista.

Circumstances of Recovery Two employees from ACS Habitat Management were spraying for an invasive plant in an area of undeveloped land in Bonsall. As they were walking one of the employees kicked something and looked down and noted that it was a skull.
