The children's disappearance followed a court proceeding Wednesday at which their father was granted full custody, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department told NBC4 Investigates. The mother and children are believed to be in Mexico, the LASD said.

Cristal didn’t agree with the decision and took the children and fled the scene, according to Sgt. Mark Perkins with the station.

The mother’s phone was pinged in Mexico, leading authorities to believe she crossed the border with the kids.
