Wow, I never had to answer any questions.......
Here's the same article but from a different place......

http://www.thepresstribune.com/article/jacobson’s-son-discusses-fears-around-mother’s-disappearance

I don't know for sure, but perhaps you were logged-in to FB at the time?

I experienced the same as SuziQ. Either I missed the response box the first time or else reloading the page brought it up. I answered the questions and the article loaded instantly in full.

Thanks for a second link!

I have nothing to offer...just stunned that there is no sign of Susan and that LE admits they are stumped.

No I wasn't logged on to facebook . How bizarre! Glad the second link worked for ya! :)

I think that's got to be so hard to do for<Mod Snip>. I'm glad to hear from an investigator. I need to go back and reread some things. I thought I had heard about the dog search on a post, but I didn't remember that he went to a field.
Thanks to Susan's son, who has been vocal on here too!

Thanks! I've not tried the second link. The first link worked, once I answered the 2 questions. I immediately saved the entire article to my Evernote for future reference. It's quite a good review of the case.

Where IS Susan? Just where could she be? The concern expressed by son and father is palpable. Sending all positive thoughts and support their way...

Unfortunately I can't read any of the two links posted above. It says my location (IP) is blocked, because of some form of spam or abuse. There are no question boxes appearing for me after or before refresh. I never been to those websites before, let alone spam them or abuse them in any form. I did managed to just go to the home page of the first link, but the moment I'm clicking on the link of the said article from there, it takes me to the same error page which says I'm blocked. I'm trying to open those links from Europe on my iPad, maybe that's the problem?

Anyway, could someone summarise it for me, please?

Are people in town aware enough about Susan to know to have checked any private video they may have installed on their homes in the blocks surrounding the plaza?

If an honest PI is found, he/she might be able to be useful in looking for things like that, as I don't know much time LE can spend walking the neighborhoods.

I think they need to look for video closer to her home. Seems they have nothing at the shopping center so ....

Hi all!

Long time lurker; first time poster...

I registered here specifically to post in the Susan Jacobson thread. I live in Roseville, and have been trying to keep up with her case daily. It is frustrating that there is hardly any media coverage. While it is true that our city is pretty safe, there is a seedy underbelly like most other cities. I think we are all lulled into a false sense of security here. I grew up in Roseville so I have seen the city grow exponentially. Everyone has this impression that it is a white bread upper middle class city, but let me assure you there are pockets of uber nice and pockets of crap.

Anyway, I doubt highly that my story is related to Susan's, but I want to tell it...

About two weeks (give or take) before Mrs. Jacobson went missing, my mother went out to have coffee with a friend. At the end of her outing, she dropped her friend off at her apartment complex (the Woodcreek ones... Heritage Oaks I think it's called...). She and her friend were finishing their conversation in the lot, and out of nowhere a man tried to open the back door of her car. She always keeps her doors locked, and when the guy couldn't get it open, he started saying that he needed a ride and to let him in. My mom and her friend started screaming "NO!" and her friend got out and ran to her apartment and my mother drove off. My mother got home a few minutes later and told me what had happened and I made her phone the police. She told the dispatch the story of what just took place, and they told her that they'd investigate. She hasn't heard back about the incident or anything. Skip to Susan's disappearance not that far down the road, and I about fell over! Like I said, I don't think it's connected, but It's one of those things that do make you think... No matter how safe we think our cities are, there can be danger hanging around. And, we women need to be ultra mindful about our surroundings.

Not a day goes by where I don't think about her and her family. I hope she is found safe and sound. I do love the idea of a candle light vigil though to get some awareness and press coverage. If the family decides to have one; count me in.

Thank you for sharing the story of your mom!

I am so glad she and her friend are okay!

Thank you guys for being nice to a n00b! It makes it easy to take part in serious discussions!

For me, the scariest aspect of what happened to my mom was that she wasn't going to make a police report. She was just going to let it go because it was over... I forced her to telling her basically that what if it happened to someone else and they weren't so lucky... Then in the same area Susan goes missing... And My mom is about the same age, on the short side, and gets mistaken for younger. So, yeah... Creepy...

Have you called police again lately? I can't believe they did not want a sketch done or something.

Welcome JReed! I hope you will keep us informed of anything we don't see in the media. I too have worried about Susan. She reminds me of my dear friend of many years. I'm happy your mom and her friend got safely away. I once had a man try to open my back door while I was at a traffic light. Turns out he was drunk and thought he was in a parking lot, and it was his car. Just scary though.

From what Kjac said earlier there's not much video to be had, unfortunately. You're right that Pleasant Grove has cameras but they appear to just be for streaming traffic videos, and not recorded. I'm hoping they can find something closer to her home, or better info from the shopping center video, but it's hard to believe that there's much on the video that's useful since they apparently haven't found anything yet.

Kjac great article and interview. It was good to see some kind of press coverage!

Thanks for posting your story. So glad your Mom's ok! Yikes, that had to be scary.

I'm glad to hear from another local. Roseville's a funny place IMO and you gave a really good description of it. Because of the people I've known who have lived there I've always thought of it as mostly pretty "fancy" for lack of a better word.

My husband on the other hand has mostly worked towards the more old-town/"original" Roseville area and it's like night and day. Still nice but much more working class (and frankly I'm more comfortable there, I don't feel "rich" enough for some of the other areas).

I consider all of it fairly safe, but like you said it's certainly not crime-free. My biggest worry with this particular shopping center is that it's so close to the freeway - way too many directions to go in, and very easy on/off access, if someone wanted to commit a crime and then take off.

Due to another late-night bout of insomnia a couple of nights ago I was out driving around and headed out that direction. I ended up driving past that shopping center about 4:45am and there was already a fair amount of activity, looked like people getting ready to go to Starbucks mostly. I imagine it only gets busier as the morning goes on. It's just so hard to imagine that no one saw her, or saw whatever happened. I really wish they had better leads to go on.

Still thinking of Susan and hoping she is home SOON.

There's a response block: You have to answer 2 questions or use FB, etc. I did the 2 answers and then the article loaded fully.

~jmo~

Thanks Shana, this worked for me although I only had to answer one question. Bizarre, never seen that before! I'm glad you posted this so I had some idea what to look for.

My mom didn't follow up with anything, and the police didn't either... She gave them a description of your basic creepy white guy. I'll see if she or her friend can remember more specific details.

Not to sound like a conspiracy nut or anything (but here goes), it seems like all sort of big crime here is totally blacked out by the city. Like we have to keep up with the all American city image. It's strange. And, I am like Susan in the way that I love doing my errands early in the morning. The traffic gets so bad in the mid morning to afternoon. It is ridiculous and horrible. But even in the daytime I am careful to let my husband know where I'll be.

Roseville is just a super odd city. I always thought they had cameras everywhere. We also have an absolute jumble of people. From transient people who ride the rails to the spiffy richy-rich types and everyone in between.

We also have a weird abundance of UFO sightings.

I just cannot believe no one saw anything that morning. There are people out 24/7. Even the bike trails are well traveled. There's always someone around...

It is not just your city. There is a mindset in a lot of places that cater to higher incomes to downplay or not publicly report crime. Where my in-laws live in FL is like that as well as my sister's suburb of Houston. She only found out through neighbors that the path behind her house in a pretty, wooded area had been the site if several unresolved rapes, after they moved in, with two teenage daughters.

  • #398
Totally! They soooo downplay everything! Right after Susan went missing, I was walking my dog through Old Town, and literally the police shut like five blocks down. I mean shut it down! There were police cars at every intersection and they were shining flashlights in everyone's cars. You'd think something like that would make the news, but nothing. I still have no idea what that was about.

The older areas are more blue collar, but quiet mostly. If you ever go to Old Town you'll notice it has an interesting aroma. Sort of a mix of perfume, beer, vomit, and wee-wee.

NikB- Glad you're a local too! I tell people I live in the Roseville Ghetto! I don't feel "rich" enough here either! I've lived here since it was crappy!

It's not the freeways that bother me here, it is the railroad. Tommy Lynn Sells came through here before he was caught and we've had more than our share of serials in the Sacramento area because of the railroad. Well, in my opinion...

I think the PR program allegedly conducted by the city of Boulder, CO, in the JonBenet murder was the first I'd witnessed...and more since then.

As well, the lack of reporting also signals to me the way of MSM anymore. Reporters parrot rather than ferret-out. IOW, not many truly investigative journalists exist anymore, save for a very few and most often on national issues, not crime cases. I'm thankful for the first, but it's especially disheartening when it comes to the latter.
