If her car was not caught on video, it always seems as though as it was parked purposely out of range as there should have been lots of spots at that hour and LE said they had heaps of video, but none that was useful.

Yep. And now there seems to be some confusion (at least to me) as to where the car was actually parked and whether or not law enforcement is withholding specific information on the exact location of the car.

This is a woman who had a hip replacement and possibly (if I recall correctly) would not be inclined to walk long distances unnecessarily. If the car was found further out in the lot, would she park that far away on purpose, knowing that she also planned to run other errands after finishing her shopping at Raley's that would also require walking? And still possibly plan to walk her dog later?

I understand the door ding dilemma and not wanting to park right in front of the store.....but at that time of morning, couldn't one park fairly close -- four or five spaces down from the first spots -- and be relatively protected?

Curiosity about exactly where the car was parked is one of the top questions on my list -- right below wanting to know when Susan was last seen or heard from by someone other than her husband.

(P.S. - eyestowardHeaven -- THANK YOU for your response re surveillance).

And something else that is odd, is if it wasn't Susan driving her vehicle to the shopping center, then whoever did drive it, knew that she would be shopping there. So how many people knew that Susan would be shopping there that morning?
They parked the car right where Susan would be shopping that morning. So the car is in the place it should be. ESP, lucky guess, coincidence??
IMOO.

IIRC, Kjac said Susan's habit was to park in the middle of the parking lot, so this wasn't unusual for her. There is a photo of the parked car on FB.

That's what was said last time this subject was brought up. But suppose for a minute that Susan wasn't the one parking the car and the reason for the car being where it was was because it was out of site of any useable video tape. That's the point I've tried to make. What if???

And speaking of hip replacement, did she have a Handicap placard??? My sister has had two knee replacements and has one. That's another way to not get your car doors dinged is to use a Handicap placard.

I'm more apt to believe she parked it there but after she got to the lot, she was accosted by someone and then the rest of what happened to her went down.

Or Susan wasn't driving the car at all and someone else was who would know what her plans were. Now I'm skating where I don't want to go so I'll stop now.

At the risk of stating the obvious, I've always believed that the reason law enforcement appealed to anyone who was in that parking lot between 4 a.m. and noon to contact them, was that they wanted to see if they could find anyone who places that car in the parking lot prior to Susan's alleged arrival. JMOO.

But handicap spaces are right in the front. Not a comfortable location for Susan due to all of people and activity.

That is an interesting thought, as some of us could not figure out why they wanted people to come forward from earlier in the day. I thought it was maybe to see if anyone saw anyone weird.

I joined this conversation late. But this was my first impression when I read the request. I think it's multi-purpose, though. Investigators could question people who were present at that location that day/time about a) the car, b) anyone/anything weird, and c) the general amount of activity they observed during the time they were in the parking lot that day, and whether or not someone could accost someone and go unnoticed. The latter observation being something that could be used at a later date, such as testimony at any legal proceeding connected with Susan's disappearance (which will hopefully be precluded by Susan's safe return home....and soon). JMOO.

I wonder what Susan's other errands were for the day. Perhaps Susan went elsewhere first, and was then followed to the shopping center parking lot. Perhaps someone parked right next to her at that point, and grabbed her, and the wallet, and left and threw the wallet out from the vehicle they were in?
IMOO.

Post on Facebook page for Susan published Friday says hoping to hold a vigil or similar event for Susan in the next few weeks.

Heartened to see this happening.

Here are the stats for the weather for the month of May, 2013 in Roseville, California.

I really appreciate the links! I just have to question how they're possibly so different, given that Sun City is basically IN Roseville. Maybe it's just me, but I wouldn't read too much into them saying it was 90 in Roseville and 77 in Sun City on the same day (May 4). I just picked the date as an example. It doesn't make any sense - I mean literally drive 1/4 mile and you're out of "Sun City" (which is basically just a community in the city) and into Roseville. I'm not that familiar with Accuweather. Is it possible to see a map or description of where the weather equipment is located?

I DO think the weather and temps that day could be important, particularly when trying to understand the parking situation. IMO generally someone would be unlikely to intentionally park that far away if it was overly cold or hot at the time. Maybe I'm just a wimp. :)

Quick PS haven't heard anything back yet on the other ideas I had about the fair or the Roseville Tuesday night thing, but I know it's still the holiday weekend. Fingers crossed for tomorrow. Come home Susan!

Absolutely, this is great news! The State Fair also starts Friday. I wonder if it could be tied in somehow. I just realized I should've referenced that the State Fair is very close to the Sun City/Roseville area, so I'm not talking/thinking about a place that's 6 hours away or something. It's maybe a 30 minute drive. Here's a really basic map for reference: http://y.ahoo.it/rJwOlY4j.

So hoping to hear something back on the fair tomorrow!

Not to be harsh, or unrealistic, as I am not far from Susan's age...but what would be the motive for abducting her? So near a Starbucks, young women were likely coming and going throughout the morning hours, though I know it is mostly retirees. But ransom is not an issue, apparently. I know offenders don't always care about age, but I can't imagine why anyone would want to abduct me, for example, unless they mistook me for a younger woman. And Susan is small and could have appeared much younger. But most random/stranger sex abductions result in the body of the victim turning up not far away. Also the time of day is unusual though I know some morning joggers have been abducted.

What other motives? Robbery, obviously, but how much cash would she have on her at that hour? Most people don't even carry cash, and her cards were not used, her car not stolen.

So motive is really mystifying me, as far as an abduction. Any ides on motive? I do NOT believe she walked away from her life.

I agree, motive is the most mystifying thing for me as well. I guess in every abduction case I think to myself WHY???, but specifically here it's been so long and there's just nothing obvious that we've heard of in terms of a motive. Robbery, life insurance, ANYthing... it's very confusing.

"Sun City" is the name of the Del Webb 55+ neighborhood in which Susan and her husband live. The city is Roseville. Maybe you were looking at Sun City, Ca? That one is in SoCal in Riverside County.

<snip>

Sorry to respond to myself... this is a totally strange coincidence but I just heard about an autistic boy (Terry Smith) who went missing in Menifee CA. I posted a thread for him and was looking up maps, and wouldn't you know there's a town or city called Sun City near him. It's in Southern CA, Riverside county - many hours from Roseville (7.5 hours or so). I'm wondering if this is what was coming up on Accuweather as opposed to the Sun City community in Roseville? It'd make more sense on how the temps could be so different.

We cross-posted, I just saw this too. I think this has to be what it was. I was looking at the links Treelights posted but couldn't tell a way to see exactly where they were showing. Treelights, if you have more Accuweather insight that'd be great to hear!

I posted both cities, that's all. I understand that there are only several degrees difference in the cities. I knew that before I posted them.
