"With no new leads in the case, police are now scaling down the search for a Roseville woman missing for more than two months."

Video also with article and interview with Susan's husband.

well.
that was...uh, interesting.

Still trying to enhance video?? Are they doing it themselves, or reaching out to persons capable of such within the LE network?

Scaling back?? Huh? Has LE actually still had persons in the field searching on the ground for Susan?

BTW, I thought the dog handler 'volunteered'? And to put it rather blunt, I am not so sure that was a nationally certified dog/handler, so I personally would be very leery of anything coming from that...like setting up any false hope.

Wondering if she's being held hostage and that's why LE isn't asking for much public cooperation? Why LE is decidedly so silent? (the eternal optimist in me searching in the dark for a light switch)

Usually when there is silence it's bc there is some sort of break in investigation that warrants confidentiality and sensitivity.

I think her son would at least know if she was being held hostage. And what would be the reason? I can't think of any. Clearly her son is as mystified as most of us are, IMO.

I hate to think of her being held prisoner for months anyway, but that is just me. I personally don't think I would survive it.

I was so surprised to see that news story last night on the local CBS affiliate in Sacramento. Scaling back the investigation really surprised me?? The investigation has been invisible so far, so scaling back from what? At least a couple of times there was mention of not even a "single" lead in the case? Wow. I'm starting to wonder why the City of Roseville is not getting the message out for people to be more aware of their surroundings, no matter what time they are conducting business in the community. There is a missing woman in the city, and you would think there is no concern at all given the lack of messaging from City officials...

I know! Her case freaks me out and I don't live in CA. How are people not up in arms over her disappearance? Does LE actually think she took off? If they do, they need to say why, not just say they are "scaling back" from what has looked like a non-existent search.

Looking at everything that has been presented as a whole, it makes more sense that Susan was Never at the shopping center, and her car and wallet Planted there.
It just doesn't make sense that her car was unlocked with her purse in the unlocked car and her wallet found elsewhere, particularly when she always locked her car and carried her wallet in her purse. It doesn't make any sense that out of the Wealth of Video that Susan is no where to be seen, and that the police will Not discuss where the car was parked and the police won't discuss anything about Susan's car other than her car was found somewhere in the shopping center with it being unlocked and her purse in the unlocked vehicle. IMOO.
If she was abducted from the shopping center in broad daylight, how was she subdued? Then forcibly put into another vehicle and driven off?? It just doesn't make sense. And the wallet...with ID left in it to identify that it was Susan's....if Susan threw it from the vehicle she would have been abducted in, why is her purse left in her own vehicle? Why would she hygrade her wallet to take cash and credit cards out? Makes No sense. Why not leave the purse in the car with the wallet in her purse, lock it and walk away? That makes more sense that way, but it did not happen that way.
This case has no rhyme or reason.
What are the reasons Susan is missing??

We have a case on another thread for Adrienne Salinas that has some eerie similarities. Adrienne's car was left behind/abandoned on a side road after a supposed wreck. She disappeared that night but her wallet, keys, and personal affects were back at her apartment. Not one of her roommates remember her dropping the items off after the wreck.

She has not been seen/heard from in a month. LE has limited information to the public despite more information helping the public to find her. Rumors of a hostage/ransom situation are going around now. The family will not validate the claims nor will LE. it's as if they've gotten a lead that they don't want the public/media to compromise.

I wonder of the same is going on with Susan? A left behind car moved from its original location - personal affects left behind almost intentionally as if staged or forced to do so.

Both cases have a lack of info provided by LE/media. Is this bc people/media will hinder the SAFE recovery of the victim?

Eternal optimist strikes once again!

Where are rumors of a ransom situation going around?
JMO only but that is extremely unlikely in either case. It would not go on for months, or even weeks. Ransom demands can be traced. And except for gang-drug-crimelord type cases, it just does not happen, or one in a million cases. Kidnappings for ransom are super rare in the US and hostage situations are most often domestic.

It's true they can be traced, but rescuing the victim can take time as the captors may be hostile and put up a fight that the victim becomes injured/killed during. many die during the rescue process.

In AZ the hostage situations are quite different than many other areas of the US bc the state is a hotbed for human and drug trafficking which both play a heavy role in Hostage situations in that state.

In Susan's case in CA, I have a theory that Eric Thorpe and his accomplice who is now in custody could have abducted Susan as they were known for impersonating officers to abduct women, procure and use their credit cards while holding the women captive.

Eric's accomplice was caught bc LE traced the stolen credit cards that had been used to him. So I wonder naturally if Eric got the heads up to not use Susan's cards or else he would be located and apprehended (possibly along with Susan)
IMO and theory.

I'd like to know if the Aquatics Center has any type of surveillance cameras. And if any other searches have been carried out in that vicinity since the one the lady did for the family.

  • #851
In fact I should really specify that I believe if Susan is held hostage it is more in the realm of domesticity and not for ransom. With AS I believe it's more related to a trade off or ransom an non domestic. If my theory were true (again theory) than Susan would be in more immediate danger than AS because AS is worth more alive than deceased if she were taken hostage for immigration/legal amnesty.

IMO

Seriously good point. Anyone know? Treelights! Over to you!

The only part about Susan's abduction is, if she never made it to the shopping center, someone perhaps overheard her talking to her husband about going shopping that morning, because her vehicle was found in the very shopping center that her husband said she was going to be at.
Now, either Susan always went shopping on that same day of the week/time, or how many people knew that she was going shopping, if she did not even make it to the shopping center?
If she did make it to the shopping center, did she park next to the perp's car?
Supposedly she parked away from other cars so she wouldn't get a "ding" in her car. Did the perp park next to her?
This case just Boggles the mind.
And if it was this Eric guy who would have abducted her, why would he then throw out her ID with wallet so that it could easily be found??
Makes no sense to me, anyway.
IMOO.

What???

Scaling back a search that's been practically invisible to begin with?

We don't have any leads so we're just going to drop the fact that a woman might've been abducted? We're not concerned that she might still be out there in need of help...

Don't they normally ask for MORE info or give suggestions on what people might've seen, not just come out and shrug shoulders and say "oh well"?

I understand resources are limited and all that, but this seems ridiculous to me. It's not like there are dozens of people missing in Roseville that they need to turn their attention to.

Unless LE is focusing on her husband...this "scaling back" makes no sense.

  • #856
That's what I was wondering if LE was waiting for someone to "trip up".........
IMOO.

The quiet before the storm so to speak...

Maybe LE is waiting until they find her remains and then proceed onward.
