Merona is a brand currently sold at Walmart and formally sold at target until 2019. I can also find some listings on Amazon, but they're relatively scarce.

8 1/2 shoe for men is relatively small, he may have stood around 5'5"

34 waist size could indicated he was about 155-200lbs, but I'm more inclined to think he was closer to 155 due to his shoe size.

Surely that age range is meant to be 18-65....

Likely so, especially considering he was found with a watch. Not sure I know many younger people who still wear a watch.

Merona was acquired by Target from Oxford Industries, which had acquired Merona in 1981. Before then, I believe it did exist, I see advertisements for vintage 1970s Merona clothing. Wondering on this MP, who disappeared from North Highlands CA (near Sacramento) Feb 13, 1977, he was supposed to be heading towards San Francisco, but I don't see a vehicle mentioned and wonder if he was hitchhiking or got a ride from someone he knew:
That's going to be extremely difficult to identify that Doe, such an enormous span of time. Am looking towards the '70s because that region with Placer county seemed very active in this timeframe. Lassen County is relatively close to Placer county.

They might be able to narrow the time range with information about the shotgun.

They have this range for date of death completely open, but they also note decomposing/putrefication for the remains. I mean, I think in just about any climate, they'd reach "skeletal" (or maybe mummification?) by a certain point probably well beyond the 1970s. But as I research, I am seeing that in semi-arid, high elevation climates (Lassen County), it might take several decades to reach complete skeletonization.
