Wait they didn’t even do ground searches?
The area has been looked at, people have walked it----but not really ground searches as far as I know---but it is San Francisco. A very crowded urban area. If she was there, injured or hiding or deceased, we would know already. JMO

Did we ever know that?

Perhaps not. I just assumed we did because I recall "early morning hours" being mentioned.
I think it would be interesting to know what time her train was and the train schedule, what were her options that day?

I'm confused by the mention of a train. What train? From where? As far as I know, we don't even know where Syd lived. Just 'with friends in San Francisco'.

Her mum says in this video "Sydney has not been seen or heard from since early morning September 30th" " … before sunrise".

I've had a little time to consider voluntary missing but the thing that gives me pause about that, is that by all accounts she was living independently, not under the thumb of somebody like controlling parents or anything like that. Why would she feel the need to disappear? I suppose the school angle is valid but it's not like she would be checked on every day.

So really, I am very worried that this is either a case of self harm or foul play of some sort.

I've read everything in the thread, but forgive me for asking if it's been posted, have we heard anything about her cell phone? Is it missing too? When was the last time it was used and where did it ping?

I thought she took a train into SF, but I'm probably wrong. My fault for not checking my facts. I won't post again until I've reread the thread.
I'll just say then it would be interesting to know what time she left home that morning and what time she was seen near Crissy Field.

We know very little at this point. All we really know is that she was last "seen" in the area of Crissy Field and the GG Bridge just before sunrise on September 30. We know what she "may" have been wearing and that her hair was either in a ponytail or bun. We also know that she was a student at Berkeley and she suffers from depression.

We don't know where she lived or with whom, how she traveled to the GG Bridge area, whether she had her phone or debit/credit card with her or how it's been determined that she was in the area of the bridge.

I'm not very hopeful at the moment.

When I was looking for statistics yesterday on the bridge, I ran across this thread here if anyone is interested.

Golden Gate Bridge Suicides
Thanks for linking this thread. I was reading it and this thread stood out to me. Allison Bayliss’ bicycle was found at Chrissy Field and it is presumed she jumped from the GG bridge due to a suicide note she left on her computer. Her body was never found.

A View to a Jump: Working As a Painter at the Golden Gate Bridge - Marin Magazine

Recommended reading. The interesting takeaway is that it is pretty hard to jump off this bridge without someone seeing you unless you do it in the middle of the night, but as a few people have repeated in this thread, there is 24/7 bridge security and a myriad of cameras.

This group may also be worth contacting if LE hasn't done it already, if they were out there around the 30th they may have seen something Bridgewatch Angels

Yes, but the video cameras on the GG Bridge determined the exact time it happened to prove she had jumped the morning she traveled by BART. Opinion: Mental Health First-Aid Training Could Have Saved My Daughter’s Life

If she traveled from Berkeley to the Presidio area in SF, she had to drive, take an uber, OR take the BART rail.

I don't think she used a car because no one has mentioned a missing car at this point.

If she had taken an Uber, I believe LE would already know that from her phone records/bank records/ And would have given us the location and time of drop off.

So by process of elimination, I am leaning towards BART, which is the usual mode of transport for Berk to SF.

I was a UC Berk student and my boyfriend lived in SF---so I took that BART railway many many times. Fast and cheap.

I wonder where in San Francisco she lives, because that's probably a hassle to go to Berkeley. Is UC Berkeley having in-person classes or are they're doing everything remote?

im super late to the party, but its a hop on BART. i think she was prob visiting tho and lived in east bay, but let me catch up.

Not knowing where Syd was during that evening, perhaps it is possible that she was dropped off in that area ... by a person who has or hasn't come forward.

Not knowing who she was living with leaves so much speculation to be had. Was she living with old friends of hers, was she living with new friends of hers, was she living with friends of her parents?

Based on the string of vague information, she left UC Berkeley either by dropping out or deferring. She was said to be living with friends somewhere but that location is not publicized. For all we know, she lived near Chrissy Field.

It is strange because her parents have spoken out several times ---and yet we have not gotten a lot of solid factual info about the circumstances. Very frustrating.

Can't stop thinking about this, and no new info still..

Can someone from California area search and help find her
Not good that there are no local searches, barely any media covering it here
