GUILTY CA - Terry Smith, 11, autistic, Menifee, 6 July 2013

Per a friend who was out searching tonight-"the S.O. has asked all searchers to quit for the night and they will have a grid search in the morning, safety concerns"

NBC, channel 4 news had interviews from the parents and they say he runs when scared. I think Sarx was right and they should set up a perimeter with all the volunteers. If Terry sees all these people, he must be terrified. Praying for his safe return!! Praying for all the volunteers. Really wish the children weren't out searching at night. It is so dangerous. The news said it's very rough in some areas of the search.
Stay safe everyone!

He is very likely going to run and hide if he is able to, which means that all the searchers may just be pushing him in crazy patterns as he tries to escape from them. A perimeter would be a much better use of the people IMO.

I'm sure that's the smart thing to do.....but I sure wish they had found him this evening. :sigh:

It is, and hopefully, if he is able, with all the commotion settling down, he will come out.

Wonder if they've checked to see if any of the homes in a mile radius might have cameras on their property/garages.

http://www.pe.com/local-news/rivers...es/20130707-menifee-autistic-boy-goes-missing.

Here's where 10:30 came from:

Terry’s mother discovered the boy was missing in the morning around 10:30 a.m., according to Deputy Martinez.

“When they woke up in the morning he wasn’t there,” Martinez said.

9:30 I think I saw earlier before the article was updated, or maybe it was in the comments. Sorry, I know comments aren't technically approved here on WS, I was kind of hurrying when I tried to post info earlier. The article's been updated, also.

In any case in the MSM article above he was discovered missing at 10:30am, after the family woke up and discovered he wasn't there. Doesn't say exactly when they woke up. Maybe the boy often woke up before everyone else?
No exact details but he went missing the night before-
"Though the child disappeared Saturday night, the mother did not discover it until Sunday morning, Masih said.

“At first (the older brother) withheld the information that he went missing that night,” she said. “We were under the impression he went missing yesterday (Sunday) morning.”"

Found one more article: http://murrieta.patch.com/groups/ed...ing-through-the-night-for-missing-menifee-boy

"“They are going to push up the mountain where his house is, lighting glow sticks and dropping water just in case he is out there and needs water,” Rose said. “That way if he comes across the bottles he will have some water." - GOOD IDEA IMO. A great way to not only get water to him, but to indicate where he can find it, if he needs to.

This might've already been posted but here's the FB search page I ran across: https://www.facebook.com/FindTerrySmith?fref=ts

Folks please don't copy/paste comments from facebook. It's not allowed on WS as it's considered rumour unless it's from a media or LE page.

This article has a lot of good info...very different from initial reports!

As of noon today, there has been no sign of Terry Smith, who was last seen wearing blue basketball shorts and walking south on Helen Lane toward his home about 7:30 p.m. Saturday.

There have been conflicting news reports concerning the circumstances surrounding Terry's disappearance. His brother, 16-year-old SA, told Menifee 24/7 he was home alone with Terry after their mother, Shawna Smith, left early in the evening to go play pool with friends. SA said he left the house sometime after 7:30 to visit a friend and saw Terry following him.

"I told him to go back home," SA said. "He didn't want to at first, but I saw him walking back toward the house. That's the last time I saw him."

SA said Terry is sometimes left home alone playing video games, although "most of the time we prefer to have a babysitter. He only comes here (Menifee Market); nowhere else."

SA said when he returned home later, he went to bed and assumed Terry was in bed, too. Shawna Smith said when she returned home later that night, she assumed both boys were asleep in bed. She didn't notice Terry was missing until she got up Sunday morning.

"When I left at 6:15 Saturday, both boys were home," she said. "There was nothing abnormal. SA was supposed to be watching him. I didn't know Terry wasn't there until the next morning. I thought he was in bed."

Authorities Search for Missing Autistic Boy in Menifee
A search for the boy included a helicopter, bloodhounds and volunteers

"He is approachable, somewhat," said his mother, Shawna Smith. He is sensitive to water and becomes frightened if water comes into contact with the top of his head.

"It's going to be in the hundred-degree range today, and we need to get the boy found," said Lt. Charlie Wilhite, of the Riverside County Sheriff's Department. "Those are very rugged foothills up there. There are a lot of rocks and areas not accesible by vehicle. There are a lot of areas where you might not see somebody unless you were right on top of them."

OH no :( So he was never in bed asleep, so he's been gone quite a few hours longer. So the one who saw him walking behind him, said ' go home' , never looked again to see if he was still following? Just assumed he followed instruction and went back home?
Oh dear ;(

I am so thankful he doesn't much like water.

Sadly, this general area has one of the highest concentrations of sexual predators in all of California. It is chock full of group homes for sex predators who aren't allowed anywhere else.
It's also the desert and pretty inhospitable at this time of year, during the day. This little boy is in extreme danger.
