If this is the case I hope they can take him alive and no one gets hurt, this is a shame....makes me so sad. I find myself praying for the Officers, Hostages, and the Gunman....that normally is not the case. IMHO

What was the point of that press conference? Just to announce there will be another one at 2pm? Weird.

They had announced the one at Two pm. this one was just impromptu I believe, they really don't know much yet. I cannot imagine the poor vets on lockdown triggered right now, oh man this is horrible on so many levels...IMHO

A man says a gunman quietly came into a going-away party and staff meeting at a Northern California veterans home and let some leave, while keeping others hostage.

Larry Kamer says his wife, Devereaux Smith, is a fundraiser for the nonprofit Pathway Home.

She was at the party Friday morning of 10 to 15 people at the Yountville veterans home. Pathway Home's program treats veterans of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars with post-traumatic stress disorder.

Kamer says his wife is now inside the home's dining hall and is not allowed to leave. He spoke to her by phone.

The CHP is aware of the incident at the Yountville Veterans Home and has officers and aerial resources on scene working with Napa County Sheriff’s deputies and others to bring the situation to a safe conclusion. A CHP SWAT team is also enroute. More details as info is available.
