CA CA - Tiffany Slaton, 27, camping alone in Huntington Lake area, Fresno County, 20 Apr 2025

News reports today have released video of Tiffany Slanton at a Mini Mart in the "Shaver Lake area" on April 20, 2025. Just after 3pm local time, she is seen driving up in her bike without a trailer to the front of the mart. She is then seen sitting outside the minimart on the concrete strip, then later seen walking out onto the docks of the marina area. She briefly talks to a woman before walking to the docks. The figure on the docks is very fuzzy, but the news report says Fresno County SD confirms that is her on the docks.

The news report has the location incorrectly named as Shaver Lake, it is on Huntington Lake.

I found the minimart:

China Peak Marina and Mini Mart, 63000 Huntington Lake Drive.

She is clearly hanging around there consistent with waiting for batteries to charge. This might be about the time she calls her parents. They don't specify what time she talked to them on April 20. Note that this is just at the junction of Highway 168 and Kaiser Peak Road. If she was intending to ride to Mono Hot Springs the next day, this is the general area that would make sense to stay in. I also note there are some pretty crummy old decrepid mobil homes and trailers in the general area. I would certainly not choose to camp right in that area.

Weather in the Huntington Lake area was not very comfortable for tent camping the 4 days prior to this video.

On Thursday, April 17 the high was 38 and the low was 14
On Friday April 18 the high was 42 and the low was 27
On Saturday April 19 the high was 46 and the low was 31
On Sunday April 20, the high was now 53 and the low was 34

The temps stayed that same range for 4 days and then a cold weather front came through and the highs in the region were 28 and the low 23 with snow, on Saturday April 26. WOW.

This cold weather forecast could very well be why she would leave that area and seek warmer temps at a the lower elevation of Cressman's. Huntington Lake is at 7,028 ft and Pine Ridge is 4,843 ft. Still too cold for tent camping, IMHO.

Perhaps someone with ill intentions offered her a place to stay indoors to get her out of the cold.

In the video, it mentions some nice people she met & stayed with. I wonder if she gave them any clues about her upcoming itinerary that would help searchers pinpoint areas to visit? Did she change any plans? Did they give her advice on alternate routes or other neat things to visit/see?

Also, I don't know the terrain well but with the dry lake bed & her in a tan shirt, I'm thinking she would be hard to spot vs. brightly colored clothes.

It just seems so strange that there is no evidence of her, her bike, her tent, or her trailer.

Hoping against hope that she's still ok somehow & is soon located.

It seems that Fresno Sheriiff's are being very closed-mouth about the information they release on her. They made no mention of this sighting or of her staying with any new acquaintances in the area.

The lakes are not dry lakebeds. They are filling with spring runoff.

With the way the temperatures were getting colder and less amenable to outdoor exploration, I would wonder if she had been traveling more westward in direction, back towards Clovis or Fresno. There keep being mentions of her seen on Aubrey Road, north of Pine Ridge, which is about the altitude of 2,081 ft and has a more pasture-like vegetation with oak trees instead of pine forests.

This is an interesting comment in todays Fresno news:

"“What this video basically was is Tiffany had gone through the Santa Cruz area. She stopped at a farm. She met some nice people. She stayed with them for a little bit. And as she hit the trail to start heading toward Fresno County, that’s those friendly people from the farm who were following her on the road,” Botti explained. “They were sharing some laughs, some nice little conversation.”

The friendly people from the farm who were following her on the road. Do they mean by social media or actually driving behind her on the road? It's a nice thought that people she met at the Santa Cruz farm cared enough for her to accompany her for some part of crossing the Central Valley, possibly to help with route planning or keeping her safe in traffic. At least that's how I read this section. I have only seen the comments from the one friend in Santa Cruz who drove past her on the street near the farm there, so I haven't found any other independent confirmation that she had friends for part of the rest of her trip. If it were valid, it would be a mark of the esteem and concern they had for her and a further credit to her character. Would be nice to get that correct.

Have any of them been to the Shaver Lake- Huntington Lake area to follow her there?

The article is confusing. It implies the first video sighting of her in Fresno County was at Huntington Lake. That doesn't make any sense, as Fresno County is very large and extends from Interstate 5 on the west to the John Muir Trail along the crest of the Sierra on the west. Huntington Lake is on the eastern end of Fresno County. Surely there must have been video footage of her in the central valley area, in Fresno, or Clovis, or near Madera. Even if she was avoiding major highways and using Auberry Road to join up with Highway 168, instead of going through central Fresno and Clovis, she certainly must have been on CCTV at multiple places.

I wish the routing and the question of whether she was traveling with others accompanying her by car was more clear.

Top speeds for lightweight ebikes are 28 mph, but the less elite ones top out at 20 mph. Fully loaded, she might be even lower than 20 mph on the flat.

That's going to be a long slog through the flat, hot Central Valley, likely on rural roads that can accommodate slow-moving farm vehicles and avoiding 4 lane or interstate highways where the slow speed could impeded adjacent traffic and end up with a slow-moving vehicle violation.

Oh and this reminds me: Having an air tag or two on her vehicle, the trailer, her backpack could have given hugely valuable information to her family in following her.

In addition, the What Three Words app is really invaluable for being able to identify a location without having to text or call.

I use this and find it to be incredibly accurate. UK SAR teams use it when trying to identify an accident site or a place where emergency help is needed without having to verbally give an address without having to ask someone.

I use it and have at least 20 different locations in my home. It can tell the difference between my driveway, my front porch, and my kitchen.

As I reread the post and the news article, I think I have interpreted this incorrectly:

I think "those friendly people from the farm [in Santa Cruz] who were following her on the road, only refers to the video we have seen of the woman driving the car and the passenger who is in the passenger seat videoing her as they drive along side her. I NOW think this was only locally and there were not multiple people who were following her by car on her way to Fresno.

Sorry for any confusion my misinterpretation might have given.

Bbm.
Why would they be videoing her ?
Just curious.
I do hope Tiffany's found safely.
Very unsettling that her things are missing, though.
Imo.

Personally, I'm not a fan of this app for several reasons. But regardless of whether you have it or not, I think it's worthwhile to learn how to get your current longitude and latitude coordinates from your cell phone.

This is for the iPhone, but I'm sure that Android has similar functionality.

Option 1: Open Apple Maps and click on the blue dot that hovers over your current location. A window will pop up with your coordinates.

Option 2: Open the built-in Compass app which will show your coordinates at the bottom of the screen.

My ears perked at the same mention. Could she have encountered someone with bad intentions? I’m worried about that possibility.

Where is Tiffany and her belongings?!!!

Detailed pictures of Tiffany and equipment.

The last confirmed sighting of Slaton came from citizens, who say they saw her in the area of the old Cressman’s General Store on April 24th.

Detectives are now asking the public to notify them of any video they may have captured on or around April 24th. This includes surveillance cameras, dash cameras, etc. There is a possibility Slaton travelled along Auberry Road and past Pine Ridge School in order to access Highway 168.

Video of Tiffany.
The 19 minute video provided by the Fresno Sheriff's office website is worth watching. Sheriff's Office Update - Missing Georgia Woman
There is a question and answer session with local media.
The Sheriff's Office mention they have no leads on Tiffany's disappearance.
They have no 'pings' from her cell phone.
Tiffany was apparently unfamiliar with the area before traveling there.
The Sheriff is perplexed by the fact no trace of Tiffany or her equipment has been found.

Missing Camper Miraculously Found Alive

On Wednesday afternoon, 27 year old Tiffany Slaton of Jeffersonville, Georgia was found safe near Lake Edison in Fresno County. The owner of Vermilion Valley Resort was checking on his property near the lake when he found one of his cabins was occupied by a woman. He was aware of an ongoing search for a missing woman and she matched the description. The owner immediately contacted the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office to report his discovery. Deputies traveled up to Kaiser Pass Road and met with the owner who had driven Tiffany out to the staging point. Deputies confirmed it to be Tiffany and medics arrived with an ambulance to examine her. She was dehydrated, but was otherwise in good condition. Medics transported her to a hospital for further treatment and observation. The detective handling the investigation immediately reported the good news to Tiffany’s parents who were in Georgia.

It is important to note that the road from Kaiser Pass back to Lake Edison was impassable due to the snowpack. Snowplows cleared the road on Wednesday, which allowed the resort owner to access his property so he could begin preparations to open it up to the public for the summer season. The owner said he had left a cabin unlocked as a precaution for this exact situation where someone who is lost could seek shelter and increase their chances of surviving the outdoor elements and harsh weather.

Tiffany’s family reported her missing on April 29th after not hearing from her for the past nine days. The Sheriff’s Office began searching for her, along with distributing alerts to the public to be on the lookout for the missing woman. The community provided several tips to the Sheriff’s Office. During the process, we confirmed she was seen at Huntington Lake on April 20th and near the old Cressman’s General Store on April 24th. There were no confirmed sightings since the 24th.

From May 6th - 10th, the Sheriff’s Search and Rescue (SAR) team conducted a full scale operation in the mountains looking for Tiffany. The search spanned nearly 600 square miles, stretching from Mono Hot Springs to Wishon Reservoir, Pine Flat Lake to Auberry and all areas in between. Due to the snow filled road at Kaiser Pass, SAR equipment was unable to make it through. However, we did utilize our helicopter to fly the Mono Hot Springs and Lake Edison areas, but the crew never found any trace of Tiffany or her belongings.

Detectives are now arranging to meet with Tiffany to learn more about her timeline of events and overall experience.

HOLY HELL She is ALIVE and SAFE and found near Lake Thomas Edison

So sometime after April 20 she did then take Kaiser Pass Road and it would have passed by Mono Hot Springs and then on to Lake Thomas Edison.

I really want to hear her story. God Bless the owner of Vermillion Valley Resort who leaves a cabin open for just this kind of event

Thank GOD for miracles.
