not asking reporters to lie by not describing the crimes. assuming that parents will know how serious this is without that info.

  • #424
THAT reporter is AN IDIOT ("asking us to lie")

  • #425
**He is being very sensitive, really genuine, nice to see how much they are trying to protect her.**

  • #426
Devonshire (gang) unit officers are assigned to the family's house for the foreseeable future.

  • #427
reinterviewing victim in the next couple hours, will hopefully get more details

  • #428
Wow, pretty scathing on the media outlets who have not protected her identity.
Who does that ? Grrr

  • #429

will re-interview girl today.

  • #430

ICYMI Police are describing case as "stranger abduction" bc girl said she didn't know the 2 men

ICYMI Girl reported being taken to several locations thruout SF Valley; police identified storage facility less than 4 miles from her house

ICYMI Girl was placed in "several different vehicles" during the 12-hrs she was kidnapped. Police found 1 truck, still searching for 1 other

ICYMI Police are searching for 2 white male suspects, 1 described as age 18. No description for other suspect

ICYMI 10-yr-old Northridge girl kidnapped yesterday is home w/ family recovering; had bruises & cuts on face

.@LAPDHQ has no other pressers scheduled today -- unless they catch the 2 suspects

Cmdr Smith said @LAPDHQ has never had to respond to the Northridge home in the past, doesn't have history of contact w/ the family

.@LAPDHQ plans to reinterview girl in the next few hours

Girl's school indicated there was attempted kidnapping on Friday near school but @LAPDHQ doesn't know about it, not sure if related

Cmdr. Smith said there hasn't been series of kidnappings, doesn't believe of serial incidents of "kids being snatched" from beds

.@LAPDHQ currently looking at this as a stranger abduction, which is rare, Cmdr. Smith said.

.@LAPDHQ continuing to look at surveillance video obtained throughout the SF Valley

.@LAPDHQ asks media to not publish name, photo & any further "crimes" that may have been committed on her during the 12-hrs she was taken

Storage facility girl was taken to was off Mason and Nordhoff, relatively close to girl's house.

Only description is that 1 suspect is believed to be 18 yr old white male; no description for 2nd suspect

Girl is home with her parents now recovering; "Understand this is a 10 yr old child who is traumatized" Cmdr Smith said.

ICYMI girl was found 12 hours after her parents reported her missing from their Northridge home

More than @LAPDHQ 20 det. are on this case who are asking for helpful tips from LA residents who may know about kidnapping

Cmdr Andy Smith said main reason for presser is to ask for public help re: search for 2 men who kidnapped 10-yr-old Northridge girl

Police ask that details and info about what crimes she suffered not be published.

Should we ask mods to delete references in posts?

A page or two ago, I was wishing there were less of those words in the posts.
We're adults. We know what happened. It doesn't need to be repeated. :(

I'll repeat - Devonshire gang unit officers are assigned to the family's house for the foreseeable future.

Just to explain where my theory comes from.

and I'm so glad. I've been worried if it's gang related that they are all in danger as I don't believe she was supposed to be released.

I agree that the reporters and media sites that are salivating for the gory details are revolting. It pisses me off to a degree I can't express. What have we become as a society when THIS is our priority and not protecting a little girl who has been SEVERELY traumatized and has to live with this for the REST of her life. Would they like THEIR names and pictures googled, 10, 20 years later? It's like they could care less if the victim is revictimized over and over again just to satisfy their readers' prurient curiousity and make a buck on a child's torture.

It makes me so sick. I wish we could get a law passed about it. A real law.

I'm not understanding the connection, unless the media is just connecting it?
The two brothers took their own children (so that would make them way older than 18 now, 5 years later I would think).
It was a custody thing it looks like at first glance, not for purpose of abuse.
Not seeing it.

There may be no connection at all.

"That 2008 kidnapping generated media attention, but law enforcement sources stressed that it is only one of several leads they are chasing."

How did I miss this? Did they specifically say gang or just Devonshire? Because the Devonshire police station is a full police station covering a number of towns including Northridge.

today they said Devonshire. Yesterday they said Devonshire Gang unit, so I assumed it was the same. so I dunno if they're gang detectives or regular officers.

I also don't wanna consider that 2 men, not under the control of a gang, could conspire to do this. A gang makes sense, even if horrific and terrifying. 2 consenting men conspiring together of their own free will is just unfathomable to me. sickos.

Ahh that's so interesting, I feel almost the opposite ... I find it scarier that a gang could make two people act in such a disgusting, evil, callous way, that this is a result of a system whereby people lose their humanity to get whatever it is they do from being in a gang. Do such a thing as a means to an end. Nature or nurture, I find it less scary, the idea of an aberrant person finding another to commit this crime, if someone "made" them like that they didn't make them expressly do *this thing*, and it come from a perversion of the drives we all experience (for power, relief from pain, lust). Not that it makes an iota of difference in the specific circumstance, just the gang idea scares me that more and more of it will occur. If it is from a gang, it says such a terrible thing about the culture, it is a warzone where atrocities are systematic.
