Anyone remember Oba Chandler and what he did to a mom and her 2 girls vacationing down in FL many years ago? I had many sleepless nights after hearing about that one.

These kinds of crimes especially haunt me because I can feel the terror these poor victims must have felt since they were alive and knew what was going to happen, OR saw what was happening to their loved one(s).

Yes, Taximom I remember that case well. Did he get the death penalty? I can't remember if got the DP or LWOP.

When Ryan Hawks plead for the children to be given up, his reasoning was, IIRC, so the children never have to know what their parents did and would never have to know they were used to murder his parents. That just got me beyond words! So heartbreaking.

I agree with all of you that this was one of the most difficult stories to hear about. Unbelievably horrible.

And this quote from the article:

She was twice offered immunity and an immediate release from jail if she would testify against her husband, Skylar Deleon, and the other defendants, and twice she refused, saying she could never face her children if she turned on their father, whom she is now divorcing.

I am so relieved that she was not given immunity and released from jail. I can't imagine someone so dangerously heartless being out on the streets, or living in freedom. And her reason for not testifying against her husband was because she wouldn't be able to face her children if she turned on their father? Yet, she could help lure this couple into a situation in which they would be emotionally tortured and then murdered... with seemingly no concern about facing her children afterwards. She and her husband are evil.

I watched those episodes and they were very interesting and soo sad. Ryan really looks like Tom, doesn't he? His remark that he sees his Dad every time he looks in the mirror really got me. And the story about Tom taking Jackie along on a men's weekend was so sweet.

Such a nice family...and now forever scarred because of those stupid, evil thugs.

After his wife's trial and conviction everything has gone quiet, Skyler and his accomplices have not come to trial yet,

The other day at the bookstore there was a book on this case, the end of that book said at his trial Skylar went to trial looking like a woman, he had plucked his eyebrows, I think had his nails done and looked very feminine. Now I'm not sure if this was the final triall or what, but according to whoever was giving this account to the author said Skylar did this thinking he'd gain sympathy from the jury because they were apparently leniant with his wife--whose name escapes me at the moment. I didn't buy the book just read the last chapter there at the store.
The murdered couple have a website (run by the son), they should have an update.

According to the news updates at the couple's webpage the trial has been postponed until June 2nd. And according to the site his wife Jennifer was given life last October.

Thanks for the information, I will have a look on the website to see if Skylar and his co-defendants will be tried together,

I knew of his wife being convicted and sentenced, I am surprised it has taken so long to try the others,

one of the men who took part in the murders pled G to the crimes and testified against Jennifer Deleon, he will do so against the others
