I've always thought that Skylar and his group of thugs were involved in the disappearance of the below listed couple missing from Arizona. The day they were last seen was the day they were meeting someone to purchase a very expensive Ducati motorcycle and had cash on them. It seems to me this type of crime would have been right up Skyler's alley.

Details of Disappearance
Russell and his fiancee`, Catherine Nelson, resided in Phoenix, Arizona in early 2002. Russell told a friend that he and Nelson planned to drive to Tucson, Arizona on February 2, 2002 to look at an advertised Ducati motorcycle. They have not been heard from since.
Nelson and Russell were traveling in their red Ford SVT Lightning F-150 pickup truck with Arizona license plates 274-HBF at the time of their disappearances The truck was discovered abandoned in the parking lot of Santa Cruz Catholic Church in Tucson on February 7, 2002. Russell's checkbook was located inside the glove compartment. There was no indication of a struggle at the scene and no additional evidence was found inside the vehicle.

Nelson and Russell's family members told authorities that it is uncharacteristic of them to leave without warning. They left their dog unattended inside their house, as they planned to return home during the evening of February 2. Their relatives stated that Nelson and Russell would have placed their pet in a kennel if they expected to stay away for an extended period of time. They are described as having a very stable and loving relationship.

Authorities believe that Nelson and Russell may have been lured to Tucson for the purposes of a robbery, but little evidence is available to prove any theory. Foul play is suspected in Nelson and Russell's disappearances.

I guess it's never worked right for years. Something about an old motorcycle injury? Amazing he had kids.....

I think this is all just a ploy for an insanity plea. The wife's attorney, Molfetta, alluded to him wanting a sex change operation when whe was on trial. Supposedly this is why she knew nothing about his plans of murdering the Hawks.
This story just keeps getting stranger and stranger - the entire cast of misfits is disugsting.

"(Molfetta, by the way, raised the sex-change yesterday as a motive for Skylar wanting to kill the Hawkses and steal their money and boat. In addition to the thousands the Deleons owed creditors, Skylar had also put down $500 toward a sex-change operation he'd scheduled for two weeks after the murders. He needed $15,000 more.)"

They really should have just let him bleed out. he is wasting our oxygen.

From the family website (lonk posted above with the arcile - the trial should be taking place in August.
**Notice - Trial Postponed until August 25th 2008**

Wow, SuziQ you might be right. I wonder if LE has made the connection. Have you emailed the links to the PD? It seems so obvious we all assume they would have looked at them as suspects but we all know how much miscommunication and things get overlooked in between dept's, etc.
It is in the right area and is completely this guy's MO.

People murdered for financial gain with the exception of sexual crimes makes me the angriest. To murder people so you can have more money just pisses me off to no end. The fact is these people are so narcisstic they believe owning a new car or new boat is as important as two people's lifes.

gaia, I did send an email way back when. But I couldn't tell you who I sent it to. I think I'll send another one today.

ETA: I just sent an email to Phoenix PD.

In reference to my post 138, I received an email from Phoenix PD the same day I sent mine to them. It simply stated that they could not comment on an active investigation.

These murders were horrific. I cannot imagine what the Hawks' family and friends have gone through. It seems the only consolation families of murder victims can hope for is finding out that their loved one(s) didn't suffer. The Hawks family did not get that consolation. So, so sad.

No streaming video anywhere? No cameras in the courtroom? I am left hanging on the vine. The defense opening yesterday has left me reeling.

Alonso Machain, 25, of Pico Rivera, (right) is also charged with two counts of first-degree murder for his role in killing Thomas and Jackie Hawks in November 2004 by tying them to an anchor and throwing them overboard.

and:

Now Machain is being called to testify against the presidentially named John Fitzgerald Kennedy, 43, (left) the reputed street gang member allegedly hired by Deleon to subdue Thomas Hawks aboard the 55-foot trawler, the Well Deserved.
