San Mateo police found a father, mother and two 4-year-old twin boys dead inside a home, in what appears to be a murder suicide, two sources told KTVU.

In a statement, the San Mateo Police Department said two of the victims suffered fatal gunshot wounds, while the cause of death for the other two remains undetermined. The victims have been identified as Anand Sujith Henry (42), his wife Alice Priyanka (40), and their twin children.

“Tragically, the two children were found deceased inside a bedroom. Their cause of death is still under investigation. The male and female were located deceased from gunshot wounds inside a bathroom. A 9mm pistol and a loaded magazine were also found in the bathroom,” the San Mateo Police said. While initial suspicions pointed to carbon monoxide poisoning, authorities found no evidence of gas leakage or faulty appliances in the home.

According to LinkedIn, both Henry and Benziger worked in tech. Henry’s most recent role is listed as the co-founder of Logtis, an “in-house Generative AI.” Before that he worked as a software engineer manager for both Meta and Google. His wife worked at Zillow for the last six years, most recently as a data science manager.

The couple moved from India to the United States some nine years ago. According to documents viewed by NBC, Henry filed for divorce in December 2016 but apparently did not go through with it.

San Mateo officials had determined last year that the father, ex-Meta employee Anand Henry, 37, killed his wife, 38-year-old Alice Benziger, before taking his life on Feb. 12, 2023. But the cause of death for the twin boys, Noah and Nathan, had previously been under investigation — until now.

In a coroner’s report released to the Chronicle, officials determined that the cause of death for the two boys was homicide. The children were found dead on a couch in a supine position, with a pillow resting along each of their right sides, reports show. A large “foam cone” was noted to be emanating from Noah’s nose and mouth at the scene, officials wrote.

Medical examiners also noted small red or purple dots on the boys’ faces that can be a sign of strangulation or choking. Officials wrote that the dots and the pillows “suggests the possibility of smothering, however this diagnosis cannot be made based on the limited investigative information and nonspecific findings.”
