I will look for and post an article I read last night. He was in the passenger seat. The female witness was in the driver seat. She is not a suspect. The car is not the crime scene. Brb.

I wonder if the woman in the car drove up and found Christopher on the road?

Sheriff's deputies spotted a car parked in the middle of the street on Pacific Avenue, near the Lemon Grove Square Shopping Center shortly after midnight Friday, sheriff's Lt. Rich Williams said.

Inside, they found Sgt. Christopher Truax Jr., 21, bleeding from a gunshot wound, and a woman. Truax soon stopped breathing and despite CPR efforts from first responders, he was pronounced dead around 12:39 a.m., Williams said.

Something odd about this.

The woman is not considered a suspect but a witness.
So, she must be able to tell LE details.
Did she find him there?
Was he with her?
Did someone drive by and shoot him?

Just looked around.
There is very little information out there about Christopher's murder

An autopsy confirmed the cause of death was a gunshot wound and the medical examiner ruled Truax's death a homicide.

The San Diego County Sheriff's Office Homicide Unit is still investigating the crime and has not publicly identified any suspects. Investigators have also not stated how the woman was involved.

Several days after a Horseheads native was found dead of a gunshot wound in the San Diego area, authorities are still searching for his killer.

Shortly after midnight Sept. 7, deputies from the San Diego County Sheriff's Office spotted a man and woman in a vehicle parked in the middle of the street in the City of Lemon Grove, California.

The man, later identified as Christopher Truax Jr., 21, was bleeding from a gunshot wound, according to the sheriff's office.

More reports are stating he was in the car.
I think I only read one that said he was found outside of the car

Chris graduated High School with my youngest daughter. His death has been devastating to all of us here in this small community. I want to tell you what sort of kid Chris was. Amazing, funny, kind, and truly popular with all of his peers. He was the kind of person that always made those around him feel cared about and included. He was a class clown, along with my daughter, but never in a dark or bad way. Even his teachers couldn't help but forgive his antics, like eating all the gummy fish in his science project. This was not a kid that was high risk for being murdered. The first stories that came out in our community and please let me stress these are stories, not confirmed actions, is that two neighbors, Sc (male) and Mo(female) heard 2 shots from Chris's apt. They called and reported them. The woman who was with Chris, was trying to get him to a hospital, but realized that she wouldn't get there in time, and that is why the car was stopped in the intersection. The officer en route is the same one who approached the car. That woman may have been Mo, but that is pure conjecture. Remember, these are stories and not confirmed, from his home community. Please remember Chris, and if anyone has anything that can help bring closure to his family, contact the San Diego authorities.

Welcome to websleuths, Gardenkeep and thank you for your contribution to the thread. Is there any indication of whom the visitor to his apartment was? Do you have the time of the 911 call?

Thank you for the welcome. There was no indication, but there was a description of a car given by Sc, which is in one of the initial articles. I'm afraid I don't know what time that Sc or Mo called in to 911.

No updates to this that I see. I wonder where the original crime scene is? If NCIS is involved, we probably won't hear anything until an arrest is made.
