Investigators say they have received credible information from multiple sources that Justin Bolton was involved with the homicide of Pullins on June 15, 2022. She was reported missing to the Mariposa County Sheriff’s Office on June 18, 2022.
Investigators say Bolton is “considered armed and dangerous” and those who see him are asked not to contact him.

Probably found his fingerprints all over that Jeep, when they found it. Wouldn't be surprised if someone has also talked about what happened.

Very scary. He's had lots of time to change his appearance, that's for sure.

I can't read the article, because I'm outside America. Who is this guy and how did he and Wendy cross paths? Do they know each other or have a mutual friend f.i. Is there anything about it in the article?

Moo...maybe just bad paint, and the rain washed some away while it was laying there?
I once worked at the same place as a Russian emigrant. He bought a used car and painted it with house paint and a roller. Whoever painted the Jeep probably used whatever was handy.

I also wonder how the Subaru they were looking for fits in the "story". This car has been found on Okt. 6, 2023 it seems. Did it belong to Justin Bolton?

Mariposa County Sheriff Reports Subaru Outback Located in Connection to Wendy Pullins Homicide Investigation

October 11, 2023 – Mariposa County Sheriff’s Office officials report that on Friday, October 6th the Sheriff’s Office served a search warrant in connection with the Wendy Pullins homicide case.

The information we received led to the discovery of the 2005 Subaru Outback we had been looking for. This vehicle is now at the California Department of Justice lab being processed for any forensic evidence related to the homicide.

“Keep the information coming. Bringing those involved to justice and answers for her family continues to be our goal and we will not stop until we meet those goals.”
Said Sheriff Jeremy Briese

It's very scary to know that you, while you just minding your own business, can run into the wrong person and be killed. I'm so sorry for Wendy and her family. Yes, I hope justice will come swift.

Mariposa County, CA – Investigators are turning to the public to help locate the man possibly involved in the homicide of Wendy Pullins.

The potential suspect picture in the image box is Justin Bolton, who is wanted for questioning by the Mariposa County Sheriff’s Office regarding the disappearance and murder of 57-year-old Pullins of Manteca. As earlier reported, she went missing in June 2022 while driving her Jeep in Mariposa. It was found crashed on its side down an embankment in September of that same year. In October of this year, tips from the public regarding a vehicle believed to be involved in the homicide resulted in it being found on an unidentified property, as earlier reported here.

The article is pretty short, and doesn't answer any of your questions about him.

I think it was a stranger abduction/carjacking, personally. I don't think she knew him at all. He's a drifter/criminal type and opportunistic - this was a crime against a vulnerable person, IMO.

Grew up there, it can be pretty shady. It’s got small town community but also small town politics.

And it's notable that while overall crime is about average, violent crime is on the rise/is higher. Property crime is lower but not crimes against persons.

I didn't grow up there, but have been up there many times and have had friends try to move there - both Madera and Mariposa have very interesting local politics (and mixes of people).

Also, I do believe there's a large population of people who are somewhat transient in that region - and I wonder if the person sought in this case is one of those. I fear that he might be very far away by now - and he sure does look scary to me.

IMO.

Just this week sheriff's office detectives identified Justin Bolton as a suspect saying they received credible information from multiple people that Bolton was involved in Wendy's homicide.

Holly said Wendy was friends with Justin's mom and the Boltons' house was the last place she was known to be. Now Holly is hoping for some sense of closure after 17 months of wondering what happened to the best friend and sister she misses so much.

The sheriff's office said Bolton is considered armed and dangerous so you should not attempt to contact him. If you know where he could be you're asked to call law enforcement.

Holly said she knew Wendy planned to stay at a friend’s house on Stumpfield Mountain Road in Mariposa County rather than return to the family’s shared acreage and homes in Ahwahnee.

Who is this guy and how did he and Wendy cross paths? Do they know each other or have a mutual friend f.i.

I'm glad that is cleared up now. This guy didn't came out of the blue.

Interesting that Justin's mother (Wendy's friend) isn't arrested as far as I know. Or is she? What the hell happened?

I don't think that we can assume she was involved in her son's crime.
For all we know, she might be cooperating with LE in building the case and in trying to locate him. We just don't have enough information to say one way or the other. Let's hope JB is located soon. The facts will come out after his arrest.

I'm not assuming anything, just wondered. All this must be known by LE and she is not a suspect as far as we know. I think she is totally broken, knowing what happened with her friend and her son being involved.

Forensic analysis of blood located inside the vehicle was a positive match to Wendy’s DNA, according to investigators.

Mariposa County Sherriff’s Office says, on October 6, deputies served a search warrant in connection with the Wendy Pullins homicide case – leading to the discovery of a car suspected to be involved.

Here's a previous arrest for JB for aiding a felon and resisting arrest after he fled the scene with a suspect accused in a stabbing.

The search for a man wanted for questioning in the homicide of Ahwahnee resident Wendy Pullins is over.

The arrest of Justin Bolton, 42, of Mariposa, punctuates a case that spanned two counties over 17 months. He is charged with murder in the case of Pullins.

**********
The details of the arrest were still unfolding at press time on Tuesday, but the Mariposa County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) did say he was arrested in the town of Willits, which is in Mendocino County.

That town is located approximately 150 miles northwest of Sacramento in a remote area near the Pacific Coast of California.

Kristie Mitchell, the public information officer for the sheriff’s office, said local deputies worked with the Mendocino County/Lake County Interagency SWAT Team to take Bolton into custody. It was not clear on Tuesday why the SWAT team was involved, but those details are expected to be released in the near future.

She confirmed he has been charged with murder. No bond has yet been set in the case because Bolton was still in the Mendocino County Jail as of Tuesday morning.

The man sought in the homicide of Wendy Pullins, who disappeared last year during what was supposed to be a short drive in the Sierra Nevada foothills, was arrested Monday in Mendocino County.

*********
On Monday, Nov. 13, law enforcement officers saw the suspect getting into the passenger seat of a car in Willits. The vehicle was followed about half a mile, and then officers from Mendocino, Lake and Mariposa counties closed in on it and “performed a high-risk enforcement stop,” said a statement from the Mendocino County sheriff’s office.

The driver, said to be a relative of the suspect’s, obeyed commands to get out of the car, but the suspect did not. A dog was “deployed into the vehicle,” and the man was removed.

He was taken to Mendocino County Jail on a felony murder arrest warrant pending extradition to Mariposa County, the sheriff said.

“Just because Bolton is in custody for the murder of Wendy Pullins does not mean that we’re done,” stated Sheriff Briese. “We need to ensure that everybody and anyone that was involved in this case will be held accountable. We will continue to investigate this case until its completion.”

*******
The goal, according to Briese, is to partner with the District Attorney’s office to later give a more detailed release, adding, “This is all the information that can be given out at this time.”

This article gives detailed description of press conference.

*******
Wendy contacted her family to let them know she would be staying overnight in Mariposa. During her stay Mr. Bolton received information that he believed Wendy may have information or been involved in the death of Mr. Bolton’s older brother, James Allen. Mr. Bolton was enraged with what he believed was Wendy’s suspected involvement. At that point he decided to physically assault Wendy. He continued to beat her until she was deceased. After she was killed, Mr. Bolton wrapped up her body in plastic and put her inside of her red Jeep. At some point during the day on June 15, 2022, Mr. Bolton drove to a remote area in a location near Midpines in the Sierra National Forest and disposed of Wendy’s body down a steep embankment. He then drove the Jeep to a property in the Southern Sierra Miwok allotment land in Midpines where he left the vehicle.

Long article gives a time line of the investigation.
