Could our Jane be one of the ones DDP mentioned as being ID'd, but they have to sit on an announcement?
On December 17, 2021, the DDP posted on facebook a new Carl's reconstruction in an attempt to identify her. I don't think she is among 11 cases that were identified but not announced. They have a lot of cases with good matches, which are probably among these 11.

Man, you're probably right :( wishful thinking, I suppose...I do hope there is progress made and that her ID is found in 2022.

since they have not found any relatives who can place her, is it possible she too was the product of an affair?

Hoping for an update soon!

I keep hoping she will be ID'd very soon or (God willing) already is. She is one of the ones I want to see go home the most. I wish there was something I could do to help. I'm glad the monster who did the heinous crime was caught. I'm hoping she can go back to her family soon and her child/children are alive and will get answers.

This new headshot is really helpful. Wondering if a full standing rendering of Westlake Jane Doe with depiction of her actual clothing and shoes be possible?

There aren't any photos of her clothes available (as I'm aware), so a full body rendering would have to substitute the clothing she had. Although I'm sure that's not a problem, as Carl did that with Sherri Jarvis' renders because her clothes weren't recovered. I'm just questioning if it would be useful to the case...

Ventura County Jane Doe (1980)

I think, since her killer has already been apprehended and is in prison (thankfully), the value of a full-body recon with the mock-up of the clothes would be to try to jog people's memories of possibly seeing Jane hitchhike (wearing the specific clothes she was found in), particularly around the area Chouest alleged he picked her up from (Visalia/close to College of the Sequoias). However, it's been so long since, and I don't think many, if any, people would've seen them together.

I'm reading an article from 2016, and it reminded me of the fact that I forgot that Ventura Jane and Shirley Soosay were killed very, very close together - found only 4 days apart. Some of the article's wording is a bit confusing to me as it goes back and forth between describing Ventura Jane and Shirley Soosay's murders. We know Shirley was brutally murdered in Chouest's car (which he forced his roommate's sons to clean up after the fact), and then Ventura Jane was brutally murdered a few days later and there is no mention of the sons being forced to clean up the car after Ventura Jane would've been killed. I imagine there are not witnesses to her murder/abduction like there were with Shirley's.

If she was wearing the black heels found by her body (which she probably was), then I imagine they weren't very comfortable or practical for hitchhiking. I really do wonder how honest Chouest is being with regards to his claims about how they met.

As we know, pregnant women are much more likely to die of homicide (usually by a male partner, but still). I wonder if she was visibly pregnant or not - she was about halfway through her pregnancy, so up in the air on that one IMO. She was quite petite, so a bump may have been more or less obvious than with most women who are larger.

It’s been awhile since I’ve checked up on this case, so they’ve actually found out who her baby’s father was- but he cannot remember her, have I got that correct?

Yes.

Unless it was some fully drunk one night affair, i cannot imagine the father does not remember anything about her.
To me it sounds like an excuse. He is probably settled in a good job and married with kids and grandkids and does not want any trouble. Also he would automatically count as suspect, which he may want to avoid.

I have to agree.. I think he is using the “ I don’t y remember excuse” in hopes that it will all go away!

I know it's been suggested before, but I wonder if she was involved in prostitution. That would explain Chouest's story, the heels, and the father's lack of knowledge about her (especially if he was a regular, but not for a specific woman). It would fit, but it's not the only theory that would fit. So many Jane Does have a similar story though, I think it's worth consideration.

The heels are a fashion statement more than indication for prostitution, but generally, prostitution is a possibility.
Even though in 1980s a prostitute had ample options for birth control and in case of an accident, get a morning after pill. So i doubt she just got pregnant by some random patron.

I think the babydaddy knows more than what he admits. He is not the suspect, obviously, if Chouests DNA was allover her, but he may remember her as a past short term girlfriend but doesnt want to stir up trouble.

When I worked at newborn nursery in the county hospital, (1985-1996) plenty of babies were delivered from prostitutes. AIDS was full blown by then too.
