Not sure what you mean by articles being written to sway people's mind to a certain way of thinking.

What are they trying to get us to think?

I have no clue
The following is one of the first news reports on Will's disappearance
I would think that the reporter is printing what he has been told by LE and possibly family
I know that news sometimes runs with a headline which catches attention, but not really seeing that in this case

The story hasn't changed all that much since the beginning, with the exception of times of a couple of phone calls, the addition of blood and the vid of the SUV
From day one we knew that the nephew had visited, well, AFAWK, We only have his word about golf which came second hand through Will's sister.

I guess the big question I have is

DOES LE STILL THINK THIS IS A MP CASE?????????

Not yelling, just frustrated
SABBM

Yep.

In order for this to be a MP case...LE HAD to have seen WC exiting the house walking. (Still doesn't mean someone was threatening/coercing him.)

Maybe LE is being parsimonious with the details because they're trying to nab a 'bigger fish' ?
Except WC doesn't strike as the sort who would have info on big time, crime players. Seemed to be a humble 'homebody'.

I thought the NEPHEW said they were watching golf. Sorry if I completely missed that.
Shows how little I'm paying attention.

Also thought that LE said the nephew was cooperating ?
Even though Will's wife shook her head "No" when that was said during the presser.

I don't think the nephew has spoken to the media at all
During the PC, Mrs Peck (hope I have the name correct) was the person who said that the nephew was at Wills' watching golf.I would assume that is what the nephew told her.

Cierzan’s wife did note that in her previous conversations with her husband the day of his disappearance he never mentioned the relative being present.

Cierzan’s sister told KCAL9 by phone her son did not indicate that there were any signs of trouble prior to Will’s disappearance.

“He (the nephew) said everything looked fine, everything was fine,” Will Cierzan’s sister, Andrea Peck, said. “I asked that question. You know, did he have a headache? Was he not feeling good? Was he acting like, did you guys get into any kind of argument. We went through all that. And it was kind of like, no, nothing.”

The above quotes in the second report are from two different sisters
I have never seen a quote from the nephew

I don't mean to quote myself!!

If anyone is interested in taking another listen to the entire 20 minute press conference here is the link.
https://www.facebook.com/khtsam/videos/1293125887419179/
You will note that when LE
is asked if nephew is cooperating their response is a flat "he has provided a statement". No other details about the nephew was disclosed by LE.

IMO any timelines provided by the nephew to his family and reported to the press are just reports for now.

The detective in the PC mentions that LE did a search of the area by walking the neighborhood and surrounding areas and searched by helicopter. LE also states that they did not release the home surveillance video of the SUV to the press.

So this explains why there has been so much conflicting information in the press. Much of it has been tidbits of info revealed through other sources.

So then, are you maybe suggesting that at some point (probably in the video) LE witnessesd Will leaving the house under his own power?
(Not in a rug or a gun to his head?)

This is very strange indeed.

I am not sure what to think anymore.
But after LE found blood, did they then change his status from missing to endangered or some such thing?

And if they think he has been taken against his will or is endangered, are they (LE) handling any searches other than the initial neighborhood and house search. and helicopter search?

It makes one think that LE believes WC is fine and wanted to leave.

Another thought--- if this is the case and WC left of his own volition (and he contacted LE to let them know)--- wouldn't LE HAVE to just say he's missing and leave it alone ?
I'm not sensing any urgency from LE in this case.

So maybe everything is fine and WC wanted to start his life over. It happens.
IMO

Eta : Except if I were LE , I'd let Will's wife know that she needn't worry any more.
Not really sensing this has occurred.

Nor am I.
I have no idea what protocol is if an adult voluntarily disappears and contacts police

LE is staying very quiet on this case so its very difficult put iany pieces together that make sense. I think LE may have a strong POI but won't say a word until they have enough evidence to make an arrest.

If LE believe that Will disappeared at the hands of another, then yes, I agree, they have a solid POI
They still have to search for and try to find the body IMO, if they believe he is deceased

Hmmmm...Well, there are those that are searching for WC high and low. They seem to be looking for a body. In fact, one such searcher replied to a post of mine the other day (where I suggested that maybe WC got mad and left) that I was way off base. So....it seems the searchers might know something we don't or they are searching for no apparent reason. Would LE be obligated to tell the public that they believed WC walked out of his own life voluntarily? Certainly they would have to say something to Linda and/or WC's family.

Yes, they must have a great deal of information that is not available to us.
Not sure where they are getting it though, must be someone close to the source
LE must have the same information
Why are they not searching?

LE is not obligated to tell the public AFAIK
Same with suicides, often LE never mentions it

I also feel like the rain storms after William went missing may have affected finding him. :(

...or maybe they didn't see anything and all they truly know is he isn't home/missing.

Wonder if LE had the video enhanced ? If so, and they suspect foul play, they would have a strong POI. jmo I found it significant that LE responded with " No comment" when asked about the bloodstains at the presser. jmo Also, LE originally said that the nephew had given a statement, and "was cooperating " with them. In the last presser, didn't LE say only that the nephew had given a statement. ? To be blunt, this would be a difficult case without finding WC's remains ( sorry, graphic). A defense lawyer could and would be able to raise doubts, and imply that WC had left voluntarily. jmo

Might it have made a makeshift grave more visible ? IDK, jmo
