Circumstances of Disappearance:
Joiner was last seen in Vacaville, California on March 8, 2000. She was home alone that day at her niece's house where she was residing at the time on Songbird Court near Leisure Town Road, between Alamo Drive and Marshall Road. She apparently decided to go for walk and left home between 8:00 AM and 2:30 PM, leaving her purse behind. She failed to return and has never been heard from again. Search dogs traced Joiner's scent to the Beacon gas station on Leisure Town Road near the entrance to Interstate 80, but no additional evidence regarding her whereabouts was discovered.

Joiner suffered from Alzheimer's Disease and her physicians and loved ones determined that she required constant care. She had been living alone in Colorado Springs, Colorado but had recently relocated to her niece's residence in Vacaville, California. She was unfamiliar with the area and had only been living there a few days before she disappeared. Her niece told investigators that Joiner was in good spirits on the morning she went missing.

Joiner's family members reported that she did not want to move to California and believed she was capable of caring for herself. There was speculation that Joiner left of her own accord and doesn't want to be located, although her loved ones disagree with that theory. They believe that Joiner was taken against her will and fear that foul play was involved in her case, although there is little evidence to support this. Joiner has not contacted any loved ones since March 2000. Her case is unsolved and her whereabouts remain unknown.
