''Although authorities were able to find and rescue her daughter, a 74-year-old woman who got separated from family while mushroom picking in California remains missing.

The woman, whose name has not been released by authorities, was out foraging for mushrooms on Friday with her husband and adult daughter near French Hill Road in Gasquet, according to ABC affiliate KRCR-TV.

Around 8:00 p.m. that night, her husband arrived at the Gasquet Ranger Station "and reported that he had been separated from his wife and daughter in the woods," Del Norte County Sheriff Garrett Scott said in a statement, per the outlet.''

Del Norte County Sheriff’s Office says conditions out there are treacherous, making the efforts tougher.

“Yesterday we did locate her dog and a small piece of clothing that belonged to her, extremely steep terrain, extremely brushy,” said Del Norte County Sheriff, Garrett Scott.

Neither the woman’s name nor a photo have been released.

The sheriff says around 150 searchers have been out over the last 5 days looking.

He says it’s a reminder to stay prepared if you plan to go out into the wilderness.

DEL NORTE, Calif. — The son of the missing woman in Del Norte County is shocked over his mother's disappearance and is asking for more people to help assist with the search to find her mom after a dog they were with was found.

**********
The son, Michael Chansazang, says he never thought something like this would happen, given his mom has over 20 years of hiking experience and has been in the Gasquet area before. Michael says his mom is leaving clues. we found the dog. And then after a little bit, shortly after, dad goes down a little bit more. I found the piece of clothing that was intentionally ripped and placed between these really too-thin twigs. So I knew it was my mom," said Michael.

Chansazang goes on to say with these clues his mom is leaving for searchers; he believes they are close to finding her. However, the family says officials are currently discussing possibly pulling back the search because of dangerous weather conditions and the last day of searching could be as close as tomorrow.

DN Sheriff Decides to Continue Searching For Missing Woman, Will Get More Searchers, Resources From CalOES

After searchers found her dog alive as well as a piece of her jacket recently, the Del Norte County Sheriff says he doesn’t want to suspend the search for a 71-year-old Washington woman that’s been missing near Gasquet for about six days

Sheriff Garrett Scott said at about 12:40 p.m. Thursday that the California Office of Emergency Services is sending resources to help, though he’s not sure yet how many people are coming in.

Searchers from multiple agencies have combed the steep wooded area between milepost marker 5 on French Hill Road and milepost marker 15 on U.S. 199 since Friday. The missing woman’s name as it appears on her driver’s license is Sisophia Va, according to the sheriff. Her family knows her as Vana Chansavang, according to her son-in-law David Lim.

“This morning we have the SAR command center set up,” Scott told the Outpost on Thursday. “There’s a crew of U.S. Forest Service members doing a ground search and working on a trail to make access a little better. I believe they’re all volunteering their time. We have one more helo possibly coming from the CHP… and I have a drone up there today.”

Va’s family are also searching, though Scott said he’s warned them that with the steep terrain it could be dangerous.

“I decided let’s go ahead and continue,” he said. “The U.S. Forest Service crew is in the brush as we speak. We have not called off the search and at this point, I’m not willing to do it yet.”

HUMBOLDT BAY COAST GUARD RESCUES FOUR DEL NORTE SAR MEMBERS ENDANGERED DURING SEARCH FOR MISSING WOMAN

Press release from the U.S. Coast Guard Sector Humboldt Bay:

BRAVO ZULU to the duty crew for rescuing four Del Norte SAR Members from steep terrain near Gasquet, CA. The Ground SAR team was continuing a search for a missing woman from the weekend when they encountered thick brush and steep terrain. Hypothermic and unable to safely continue at night, they called for a MEDEVAC.
The duty crew launched last night, but encountered thick fog and several layers of clouds. After several attempts to work into the valley from both east and west of the stranded SAR group, they aborted the mission and returned home. They regrouped and launched at sunrise, safely evacuating all four personnel to awaiting EMS. The rescue was along a valley wall at 1400 feet MSL; the crew had to hover at 210 feet above the ground to avoid the tall trees and terrain.

Outstanding job by Del Norte County Sheriff’s Office with their coordination and communication to ensure a successful and safe mission!Congrats to AMT1 Brittney McDaniel for FINALLY getting her first live hoist!

DEL NORTE, Ore. —The Del Norte County Sheriff’s Office is releasing new information about a woman still missing in the Gasquet area.

It’s been 12 days since a 71-year-old woman went missing during mushroom picking with her family. Now we’re told the search efforts are ramping down because of the winter weather.

***********
The sheriff’s office is identifying her as Sisophia Va from Tacoma, Washington. Va’s daughter, dog, pieces of clothing, and her mushroom bucket have all been found.

Del Norte Sheriff Garrett Scott says crews have saturated the entire mountainside with no luck. He says 35 to 50 searchers have been out there daily from a wide range of local law enforcement agencies.

“We’ve got 11 full days of searching at 12 hours a day, we’ve probably got about 6, 600 hours search hours into trying to find her and we’ve been unable to find her,” said Sheriff Scott.

I wish they all would have stayed together. It's kind of odd that all three of them became separated from each other but I guess not unheard of. It makes me sad to think of this elderly woman leaving clues behind but I understand why the search is being scaled back. The conditions that the searchers have had sound very treacherous. MOO

It’s hard for family to understand how dangerous the conditions are for searchers and how minuscule the chance is that she could survive. With proper gear, 4 SAR were hypothermic in one day. There is simply no chance she survived in this area, in these conditions. Moo

After more than two weeks of combing the densely wooded mountainsides near Gasquet, searchers found the body of a 71-year-old Tacoma, Washington woman at about 6 p.m. Saturday, according to the Del Norte County sheriff.

According to initial reports from searchers, Vana Sisopha was found under a log, Sheriff Garrett Scott told the Wild Rivers Outpost. He said she may have died of exposure, but added that an investigation is necessary to determine the cause of death.

Found deceased

According to Esther Chansavang, Sisopha and her husband are avid mushroom foragers and have been hunting for them up and down the West Coast for about 20 years. They have visited the Gasquet area about four to five times previously, Esther Chansavang told the Outpost.

Over the past two weeks since Sisopha was reported missing, more than 200 individuals from Curry, Josephine, Douglas and Marin counties helped search for Sisopha, according to Scott.
