So obviously based off his last name and internet presence, Yuri was ethnically Armenian. I'm wondering if he was born and raised there and immigrated to the US, or if he was born and raised in the US? He seemed very into Armenian identity, maybe he was looking for an Armenian community in Michigan?

There are some odd posts on his Instagram page.

IMO I am leaning towards him having mental health and/or substance issues. This doesn't seem to be the thinking or online presence (IG) of a mentally stable person, especially coupled with rapid weight loss. JMO.

Details of Disappearance​

Karapetyan was last seen by his sister in Los Angeles, California at 9:00 p.m. on April 6, 2022, after taking an Uber ride to a local Vons store. He left all his personal belongings and credit cards behind and has never been heard from again.
Prior to his disappearance, Karapetyan told his family he had plans to move to Michigan to live and work. He was an accomplished guitar player and spoke of wanting to tour the country, playing at dive bars. His case remains unsolved.

Michigan is home to a lot of Armenian people too

Los Angeles, Specifically the San Fernando Valley area, has a VERY large Armenian population. He may have been living close to his family and had many community ties here, if so.

It's odd that NamUs does not specify a particular area of Los Angeles. It is a very large city with very distinct sub-divisions.
