David Ennis, who has changed his name from David Shearing since the mass murder, killed three generations of a family in August 1982 in central British Columbia.

I would encourage all Canadians to familiarize themselves with this case and please sign this petition, if so inclined. A similar petition back in 2021 kept him behind bars, where he belongs for his natural life.

One of the reasons I feel he's particularly high risk to reoffend is because of how wantonly and casually he committed the crimes he did. Just a man who stumbled upon a crime of opportunity and killed 6 human beings for sexual gratification.

He systematically denied any reason other than theft for the murders until after his sentencing, of which he fortunately received the maximum. He intentionally hid the truth to try and gain leniency and received letters praising his character from friends and family, which I think further makes his ability to hide his true self all the more dangerous.

There is a definitive book written about the case by the lead investigator and a recent podcast that tells the story of the case, for anyone interested.
