A GoFundMe campaign created by church leaders for a devout Christian couple who are attempting to resurrect their dead two-year-old daughter through faith and prayer has raised more than $43,000.

Andrew and Kalley Heiligenthal's two-year-old daughter, Olive Alayne Heiligenthal, died early Friday morning after she stopped breathing in her sleep in Redding, California.

The family called 911, and paramedics rushed Olive to a hospital, where she was declared dead. Her body was transferred to the Shasta County Coroner's Office, a spokesman from the couple's church told DailyMail.com.

On Sunday, Kalley wrote a heartbreaking post on Instagram, calling for 'bold, unified prayers from the global church to stand with us in belief that He will raise this little girl back to life.'

'Her time here is not done, and it is our time to believe boldly, and with confidence wield what King Jesus paid for. It's time for her to come to life,' wrote Kalley, who has more than 240,000 followers on Instagram.

A church spokesman said that this was the first-ever public prayer gathering that the church has hosted to pray for a resurrection.

At the same time that Kalley was calling for prayer to resurrect Olive, however, Bethel Music started a GoFundMe campaign to raise money for the couple.

Church leaders wrote on the campaign that the fund was to cover 'unforeseeable expenses the Heiligenthal family will incur, medical and otherwise.'

Many of those donating to the fund also left a comment expressing their faith that Olive will be resurrected through prayer.

'I stand firmly with you in faith that Olive will wake up! He will do it,' wrote Evianne Vikstrom.

'Just wanted the Heiligenthal family to know, in a tangible way, that we're here with you, standing, praying, and believing with you for a victorious awakening - for life to return to Olive's body,' wrote Kweku Acquah.

'Believe Olive will wake up by the resurrection power of Jesus Christ!' remarked Judith Moerdyk.

after I was able to close my mouth, I wondered... did she die of SIDs? She stopped breathing in her sleep...

Sad that this family and those who loved Olive are suffering now. Whatever it takes to get through the grief and suffering... you do it.

Except this.

IMO.

U.S. megachurch seeks $100K, prayers to ‘resurrect’ singer’s dead child
"The Heiligenthals are clearly being encouraged by the Bethel Church, a powerful Christian organization in Redding that claims to have approximately 11,000 followers and nearly half a million fans on Facebook. Bethel also has its own TV service, music label and media wing, and it’s in the middle of building a $96-million campus for itself in Redding.

The Bethel Church says it recently held its first-ever prayer service dedicated to a person’s resurrection. The group’s pastor, Bill Johnson, explained in a video on Wednesday that resurrection is possible because “we have biblical precedent; Jesus raised the dead.”

Johnson did not say how long the church would pray for a resurrection.

“Bethel Church believes in the stories of healing and physical resurrection found in the Bible (Matthew 10:8), and that the miracles they portray are possible today,” the church told the Redding Record and Spotlight newspaper on Tuesday.

The girl’s body has been at the Shasta County Coroner’s Office since it was transferred there from the hospital on Dec. 14, Bethel Church told local station KRCR News."

I'm not sure why they need $100,000 for a memorial service if they intend to have a resurrection. Oh dear, this is all so very sad.

Let me say first that I am assuming this is not a scam. We have seen some having to do with x------x.

Also note: I feel sure that Bethel Church is sincere it its beliefs, its faith, and in its outreach.

Sadly, @AzPistonsGirl, I must agree. "Sadly" because IMO there are so many sad and unusual things going on here. I am sure the grief is profound for the poor parents. Certainly their family, friends, and church congregation are also deeply affected by this should-not-happen death.

For what is the x------x fund going to spend its money? I noted they said "unforeseeable expenses the Heiligenthal family will incur, medical and otherwise." Doctors, all night vigils (seriously, no disrespect intended here), special healers, what else? What will happen to the parents, family and the congregation if this does not work, faith-wise (again, seriously speaking)?

Maybe funding and etc., this type thing has been tried before, and I just am not aware of it -- I'm sure many prayers, etc., have gone up for persons who have passed-on, but (again seriously) I have not seen that anyone has returned to life after death due to funding various things and whatever else would be involved as in this situation.
It did happen once, but without some of the trappings that are being discussed in this case -- about 2000 years ago (my own Christian belief). JMHO.

I am gonna have to follow this one, after I initially decided not to even read this thread. But here I am... :(

Please excuse my getting so carried away with this...

Yes. Perhaps the grieving family can honor their daughter by donating these funds to St. Jude’s Children’s hospital, or a similar 501c3 dedicated to children’s health.

amateur opinion and speculation

'Come out of that grave in Jesus' name': California church prays to resurrect girl
"Bethel, a Pentecostal church, is based in the city of Redding in Northern California. While originally under the Assemblies of God denomination, the church now identifies as nondenominational.

Sánchez-Walsh described Bethel as a church that is "much looser in terms of theology" and that does not operate on a hierarchical model. Being nondenominational, Bethel operates without oversight from a larger religious tradition.

"They're on their own because they don't have the same kind of restrictions that a denomination may have," said Richard Flory, senior director of research and evaluation at the University of Southern California’s Center for Religion and Civic Culture.

This includes the operation of Bethel Music, a ministry with its own record label that supplies churches around the country with worship songs. There is also the Bethel School of Supernatural Ministry, which offers classes on life coaching, preaching and career ministry.

Bethel and other charismatic churches emphasize spiritual gifts such as speaking in tongues and healings. Bethel has a particular emphasis on miracles.

"In general they believe in the miraculous access to the supernatural. That's their whole thing," Flory said."

I'm very sorry for this family...loosing there lovely girl....but if you believe in God wasn't it his choice to take her and you are not supposed to fight that.....That's what I learned from very religious people.

Besides that...I believe in live....and dead is a natural part of that...everything has a reason....should we intervene in that dynamics....no...I don't think so....It doesn't belong to us. Just a short reaction....I've could have going on posting things about this from a philosophic angle or discussing ethical dilemma's. I choose not to. RIP little one....I hope this family gets all the help they need and money will not fill the gap.

A different thing is when you loved one is taken away by the hands of others..but if you are gone...far before "your time".....no way somebody/no force can get you back.

Oh, my, @human, you said it -- did you ever. :( SMH. If only...

I don't know whether to go out in the street and scream what you just said, or to just sit down and cry.
Thanks for your words for the children.

Is anyone surprised this is the same church Cam Gamble is from?

(Google Sherri Papini reverse ransom if you don't know what I am talking about).

I was just coming here to say this. Here are some links.

Two weeks after Papini disappeared, an anonymous person created a website, sherripapini.com, to offer an undisclosed ransom for her immediate release and set an expiration date of 5 a.m. Nov. 23, the day before Thanksgiving. A letter provided instructions to the alleged captors and named Cameron Gamble as the middle man.

Gamble describes himself as a kidnap and ransom consultant and is connected to Bethel Church's missions. He said his actions to find Papini were independent from law enforcement and the family.
What we know and don't know about Sherri Papini's disappearance

Mr Gamble and his wife are the founders of Project TAKEN, which trains Christian missionaries and ministries to “prevent, survive, and escape hostile situations” worldwide.

The agency works in conjunction with the Bethel Church, which is based in Redding, Northern California, where Ms Papini vanished.

Setting aside the Cameron Gamble connection to Bethel Church, my heart goes out to any family losing their child.
If they want to pray for a resurrection, that’s up to them. Just don’t make money part of it. It smacks of the money-changers in the temple who were driven out by Jesus.

Unfortunately resurrecting somebody isn't possible
It's sad but this couple can't do anything but accepting the fact their kid is dead. This is life :(

How long will this be able to go on? As in, legalities and such, I wonder how long the morgue will hold the little girl's body. Such a sad situation. Can't imagine losing a precious child so close to Christmas, so suddenly.

<Sigh>. The older I get, the more cynical I get, but I just can't keep up.

As of midafternoon Saturday, a GoFundMe page that was posted by co-workers and friends of the family had raised $57,238.

The Heiligenthals will use those donations to pay for funeral and family living expenses, the church said.
Hope for girl's resurrection shifts to Bethel memorial service
