CAMPAIGN to help Equusearch get more volunteers and news coverage!

Thanks everyone, I just finally found the cell phone number in my papers, and called TES. Lisa told me only about 100 searchers showed this morning.

A letter will be going to all press this afternoon from Riley Ann Sawyers grandmother (Baby Grace), asking members of the Orlando community to support this search effort for Caylee. Texas Equusearch was so beneficial in helping the family of Riley Ann Sawyers, and continues to this day to support them in their efforts to raise awareness of missing children.

It is our hopes (the foundation we are creating in Riley Ann's name), that a plea from a grieving grandmother, that has faced somewhat of the same circumstances, will move some people to come out to help. Riley Ann's grandmother has agreed to send this letter, and I am in the process of getting together a group of media contacts now. If anyone has any suggestions, please, please PM them to me. She is more than willing to speak to media, etc. Her focus is on Caylee, nothing else, nothing more. She wants to bring Caylee home, as Riley was brought home.

That is wonderful news. Thank you for your efforts, and please thank Riley's Grandmother.

I believe there are some here who can help you with media contacts, and I hope they see this.

Thank you. On behalf of Sheryl, Riley Ann's grandmother, I know she neither wants or needs thanks, she wants poor Caylee found. Her heart is broken over this case.

I've pm'd Tricia for help in media contacts. Anyone else that can help, please let me know.

Ok, I sent TTTTeri's post to the Admin of a high-volume reader site I belong to, and asked him to please, please post it.

Also sent to old co-workers with all of our office in FL and asked them to post, pass and send it along.

I'll keep trying to think of other ways. I'll ask my Boss tomorrow if it's be okay to contact my customers in Florida, but I need to clear that first.

What was TTTTeri's post?

I found an article in the Orlando Sentinel that stated the following. Thought it might give some insight as to what can be done from a distance.

Mandy Albritton, EquuSearch's deputy director in the search for Caylee, said members are realistic about the chances of finding Caylee, who relatives said was last seen alive in mid-June.

"Whether we're looking for a live child or a dead child, we'd like for the community to continue to work for Caylee," Albritton said. "Whether she's coming home to live out her life or home to rest, it's still a rescue mission."

Albritton said the nonprofit group will spend at least $25,000 on the search and hopes that local businesses will donate food and water for volunteers. She also said she hoped for a larger turnout, and worries that local ill will toward Casey Anthony is distracting locals from the need to focus on Caylee.

It doesn't sound to me like they have plenty of food and water if they are hoping that local businesses donate food and water. Didn't you state that they had plenty of food?

Bravo, Believe!! You have it right!! Let's get our people out there to search for Caylee!! C'mon, WSers! This is the time to step up to the plate and find Caylee!!

for those that live to far to help with the search. remember TES also need food and water. perhaps a store can be found near by that you can order these from and have them delivered. oh another idea i saw posted with stacy was calling different businesses and organisations to help donate water and snacks.

I seriously believe people arent helping is because they arent looking for a live person. The media has been all over the story last night and today, asking for volunteers to come and help. I would have been there again today if I felt better. Am hoping I will feel up to helping again tomorrow.

Also - the Anthonys or anyone from their family have helped in this search for Caylee. Yes they did stop by the command post yesterday to thank people and to give out Tshirts - but where are their relatives - friends - business associates? Perhaps if people hear that the Anthonys are doing their part, then more strangers will do their part as well.

Just my opinion...

I just sent them an email too asking about what info people need to know regarding participating in the search...what to bring etc. I offered to make fliers and post in our area and will send out fwd emails and bulletins on myspace. Would just like to have more info. I'm not going to be able to join today, but will be there tomorrow. I'm assuming they will continue.

For locals, how about flyers at stores, the library, etc.[/QUOT

I sent the following to FOX News, Greta, Geraldo, O'Reilly, Hannity, Sheppard, Live Desk and everyone I could find an email address listed. Maybe someone will get the word out. BeanE I took the liberty of quoting you in my email, hope that is ok. You said everything so well!

I am going to try to go tomorrow if possible. I live 2 1/2 hours north.

Please put the following on all Blogs and News cast to get the word out that Tim Miller with Texas EquuSearch needs volunteers in Orlando to help with the search for Caylee Anthony. They need people to help in different ways. They need to know if they are uncomfortable possibly seeing something horrible they can work behind the scenes (see below). Just please help.

Only 100-150 people showed up Saturday don't know how many today (Sunday.). Please ask your bloggers close enough to go out Monday if they are still searching and help. Contact family and friends in the area to help.

TELL THEM NOT TO LET THEIR FEELINGS OR FRUSTRATION FOR/WITH HER MOTHER CASEY OR THE GRANDPARENTS ENTER INTO THEM HELPING. THIS IS FOR CAYLEE!!!!!! SHE NEEDS TO BE BROUGHT HOME ONE WAY OR THE OTHER. THIS LITTLE GIRL DID NOT ASK FOR OR DESERVE WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO HER. SHE NEEDS OUR HELP!

Can you also ask FOX News to let people know they are needed regardless how they feel towards the family.

The following taken from a poster "BeanE" at Websleuths with wonderful ideas how to help:
"Can go to the search, and volunteer for activities other than searching the grounds. Some ideas would be:
sorting, setting out, distributing sandwiches and drinks
running errands
'runners' to convey messages and items to people
people with cell phones to convey messages to searcher's families, call local businesses to ask for donations or deliveries of needed food, water, etc.
People with wireless laptops to look up information, research, use google maps to get and print directions and maps
collecting and sorting donated items
- Can volunteer, but are long distance/not in the area/local but can't leave children at home. These people all have computers at home. Some ideas would be:
Developing, printing, copying, sending, maps
Research, looking up information
Making up flyers
Developing and sending press releases to local TV and radio stations, and local online websites, asking for local volunteer searchers, equipment, water, food, socks, bug spray, and providing signup or delivery info
answering emails
answering phones
ordering and having delivered (and paying for) food, drinks, socks, bug spray, energy bars, whatever is needed
local people who can run errands or pick up and drop off items
local people who can provide transportation to searchers

I'm kicking myself for forgetting about people who develop websites, and could develop add-ons for the TES website for individual cases. Update with local info for volunteers, donations that are needed, rides that are needed, equipment needed, etc. Where's Caylee?!? "

Sincerely,
Lynn
A Florida Granny

Here is what I have always been advised to take when joining in a search:

Long pants
Hat
walking stick
water
Good sturdy shoes
If a swampy area, boots (wading boots)
bug spray

I talked to Tim Miller from TES a few minutes ago. Yes, they will be there tomorrow unless they find Caylee today. His words exactly were - "We are not leaving until this baby is brought home".

I will post a new thread on exactly what to bring, if different, when I get an e-mail from TES shortly. They are sending me some more info. I have worked a lot with these guys in the past on Baby Grace / Riley's case, and they are wonderful folks.

For those of you who can't be in the search....

I'm currently riding in an rv on my way to Orlando where I plan to participate in the search tomorrow with TES unless our prayers are answered before I arrive.

I had a hundred reasons for not going but in the end I know it's the right thing to do.

I will keep you posted as much as possible.

Don't forget to hound the media about covering Caylee!

thanks,

~drumstick

Thank you drumstick, and all others who have already, and plan to participate in this search - Caylee needs you and others like you. :blowkiss:

AWESOME! I wonder if it would be too much for me to suggest, at some time, Riley's grandmother contact Cindy. I would not suggest that now, but in the future. I think if she called now Cindy would chew her ear off.

Thank you Barb! You are wonderful! :blowkiss: :blowkiss: :blowkiss:

Kinda misleading header, but wanted to let all know I have a message into Tim for info, will post when I hear.

As a new WS who is all the way across the country I must say that I am a tad bit disappointed. This post is not to offend but to vent ...

I am disappointed that some of the Floridians (include veteran WS members) who have this opportunity to look for this child, whether alive or not, and don't take it.

I am utterly frustrated being in California when all I want to do is fly to Orlando to help. Regardless of whether G & C show their appreciation or not I could care friggin less. It's NOT ABOUT THEM!!!!! I wouldn't want them to show their face there because they would be only doing it for appearance sake anyways.

It's about Caylee. Nothing more nothing less.

Someone wrote earlier that if they weren't already at a bankrupt budget they would be there ... my sentiments couldn't be any further.

So, instead of posting how you are close but can't go or are afraid to go, please suck it up and just go, for Caylee & for the hundreds of us that wish we could go but are too far.

SoCaliMom

:woohoo:

this is the first time i have ever agreed completely with an entire post by someone on here! (we all have our theories and opinions).

im in vegas and i keep thinking how all i want to do is hop on a plane, how much it would be cost wise...how i could get my kids there or taken care of. it just isn't feasible and it breaks my heart!

please people who live in florida, go out there, find this precious girl, give her peace - alive or not.

Update from TES posted:

They did yesterday. Lots of people brought snacks, sandwiches, drinks on their own. I don't know about today.

Seeing as how I am pregnant, have 3 kids, a job and live in MI, I will not be a hands on participant. Although I would love to.
Can someone give me a rundown of where the searchers are meeting tomorrow, which radio and TV stations have been contacted, that type of thing. I am getting back on the phone in about 15 minutes and feel that i might need to know these things if I am going to get anything done today.

For those that can't hear the update above for whatever reason:

Nothing about searching tomorrow, it was a daily update. It said that volunteer turnout was low and they are working closely and together with LE searching areas LE is suggesting.

Thanks for the link!
