That was how Global initially reported it - it does seem that the official narrative has changed to “medical distress”.

Yes and the former partner of another victim was a Burns too. Speculation only but it seems all the Burns family deaths may’ve occurred because they wouldn’t disclose or didn’t know his ex’s location. Given MS’s violent past, she and her children may’ve been in hiding ever since the day he was released from prison. If so, clearly her fear of this evil monster was justified.
“Lana Head is the former partner of Michael Brett Burns, and the mother of their two daughters, plus three children from a previous relationship.
Burns told APTN News that Head and her male partner died of their wounds on the James Smith Cree Nation on Sunday.”

Saskatchewan massacre yet another case of Canada releasing a violent criminal to strike again
Every month in Canada yields more robberies, sexual assaults and even murders committed by men who might reasonably have still been in jail
Sanderson had a lengthy history of stabbings, beatings and one occasion in which he tried to punch his way into a room where his children were hiding. Despite being deemed at “high risk” for one of those incidents to occur again, he was granted parole in February.
Sanderson is only the most conspicuous example of a justice system that routinely grants early release to dangerous and even unrepentant offenders. Every month in Canada reliably yields more robberies, sexual assaults and even murders committed by men who might reasonably have still been in jail……..
Did anyone see a quote saying where the Rosthern RCMP spotted the Avalanche? Devin Heroux (CBC) posted on Twitter that it was headed Westbound on #1 toward Rosthern (which isn't a thing).
If it was actually Westbound it would have been on 312 (which, incidentally, ends at cemetery road in Wakaw).
Parts of that road are in such rough shape I'm uncomfortable going the speed limit...:

2:49 pm - emergency alert issued - vehicle stolen out of Wakaw at 2:10 pm and last traveling in Wakaw on Cemetery Road - direction of travel is unknown.
3:30 pm - MS taken into custody on Hwy 11, North of Saskatoon near Rosthern
Heroux does tweet that the white Chevy truck was seen by a Rosthern RCMP officer driving in an unmarked vehicle, traveling west along highway 1 toward Rosthern (TOOM - you're the local - he must mean 312?)
He also reports the truck was stolen from Tarnopol but that the couple wasn't home
(Don't we have reports that he had an interaction with a woman and tried to take her hostage??? We do. CBC article previously linked. That home is apparently 30km NW of Waka and CBC reports this happened around 2pm)
My thoughts
So picks up a vehicle in Tarnopol. Takes the 41 W to Waka, then 312 W to Rosthern then south on Hwy 11?
Toon - this shouldn't take an hour and a half should it? Maybe he took some back roads? Doubled back? You drive these roads - I figure you must have some insight

From what I gathered immediately following the call from the woman about the stolen vehicle, the RCMP issued a alert to the area and received numerous tips of sightings from the public. The RCMP arrived with vehicles and a helicopter, including the officer in the unmarked car from Rosthern. IIRC that was when he exited somewhere onto hwy 11 which initiated the pursuit and his speed reached 150km. I recall during the PC she mentioned that was directly a result of his effort to escape. She spoke in detail about how the events transpired but I have no success in finding anything cohesive in a news report so this is just all my recollect.
Alert -
RCMP have received a report of an individual armed with a knife traveling in a white 2008 Chevy Avalanche with Saskatchewan license plate 953-LPL.
“The vehicle was stolen out of Wakaw around 2:10pm and was last spotted on Cemetery Road in Wakaw.
The direction of travel is unknown and it is unknown how many people are involved.
RCMP believe this theft may be related to the multiple stabbings on the James Smith Cree Nation and in the village of Weldon.”

The photos show a four lane, divided highway with a substantial median. CBC says, "Police vehicles are seen on a stretch of Highway 11 near Rosthern, Sask.".
Maybe #1 was just a typo, which is somewhat understandable since absolutely everything in Canada happens along Highway 1.

Ah found it, the transcript of the media conference last night by the RCMP is available at this link below and is far more compressive than most media reports.
I agree, highway 1 is a typo, it was highway 11.
On Wednesday, September 7, 2022, 2:07 p.m., Wakaw RCMP received a 911 report of a break-and-enter in progress in the Wakaw detachment area. Further information provided stated Myles Sanderson was standing outside of a residence, northeast of Wakaw, and was armed with a knife. Sanderson stole a white Chevrolet Avalanche truck with Saskatchewan license plate 953-LPL and fled the property. The homeowner was not injured.
The Saskatchewan RCMP Operational Communications Centre continued to receive additional reports of Myles travelling in a vehicle.
All available police resources in that region immediately responded to the report, including a neighbouring RCMP detachments and an SPS and RCMP Aircraft.
At 2:49 p.m., an emergency alert was issued to help ensure the safety of residents in the Wakaw region and travellers on the highway.
Between 2:49 and 3:35, the Saskatchewan RCMP Operational Communications Centre received more than 20 calls from the public with potential sightings of the white Chevrolet Avalanche.
The white Chevy truck was seen by a Rosthern RCMP officer driving in an unmarked vehicle, traveling west along highway 1 toward Rosthern at a speed recorded at 150 km/h. Police confirmed the license plate matched the initial report.
At approximately 3:30 p.m., the suspect vehicle was seen travelling south on Highway 11, south of Rosthern. To ensure the safety of drivers on the highway, the vehicle was directed off the road into a nearby ditch.
Police officers surrounded the vehicle and through verbal identification, confirm the identity of the driver to be Myles Sanderson. He was arrested by police and taken into custody. A knife was located inside the vehicle.
The emergency alert was cancelled at 3:50 p.m. once the identity was confirmed and taken into police custody.
Shortly after his arrest, he went into medical distress. Nearby EMS were called by police to attend the scene and was transported to a hospital in Saskatoon. He was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

I haven't been replying here or reading this thread much as it is painful to. I am not connected to this community but am Indigenous from nearby and know many impacted. There were beautiful words by the brother of a victim just now as we was standing with his arm around the wife of Damien. He truly spoke to our spirit as Indigenous people and the pain of our history that has led up to this tragedy. I really recommend watching if you can find a replay of the livestream. I agree it's a typo, BUT doesn't hwy 11 run N/S and not E/W? I agree with the rest of your assessment, and I know this is a small detail, but he would not have been seen driving West on Hwy 11. It has to be Hwy 312 if he was driving West. MOO (if it was a major road). The subsequent statement is that he was seen travelling south on Hwy 11.

I'm so sorry for the loss and suffering to the whole Indigenous community. I will try and find a way to watch later.
Can I ask what more you think there is to the story? IMO I am not convinced of Damien's invovlement and am unclear why they laid a 1st degree murder charge against him. But i guess we wait to see how it all plays out. Also MOO, but it's clear to me that certain people were targetted. There was obviously a lot of discord in that domestic relationship. With it being such a small and interconnected community it must be SO difficult for those involved - I wish peace and healing to all the members of the community.

Yes I what you mean. The hwy west toward Rosthern from Wakaw is 312, then Rosthern in at the junction of hwy 11. I’ve never been on hwy 312 but would concur with Toom‘s earlier comment, it’s often difficult to travel as fast as the speed limit on some of Saskatchewan’s secondary hwys let alone fly through at 150km.
